Let me ask if it was the other way around and the foreigner bought the land when he married for his wife built a house and the foreigner out lived her would he get everything? would her family have any claims?

I have considered this, I think that in my case, I would continue to live with my wife's family even if I were to remarry. I knew that the home and land would belong to my wife, and her family.

I would be more distressed, because my partner was 50 years old!

After 7 years together, I spent almost 3 million baht to build my girl a new house, I guess that I am really screwed, because now I will have to live in said house for the rest of my life!

Friends and family back home are sounded out for a loan, but should none be forthcoming the government will stump up the cost to be repaid upon return. Other embassies work on a similar basis.

You must be new to Thai Visa.

Thai police seem to spend a great deal of time apprehending people who "slipped through the fingers" of police in other countries and in assisting police from other jurisdictions , as in this case, but of course it would kill some people to acknowledge that.

The police have to wait until a crime is committed before they can make an arrest. I watched a documentary about Australian heroin mules who were thrown in Thai prison after Australian police tipped off the Thai police. You can't arrest people and keep them in prison simply on intent.

Sure you can arrest people and keep them in prison on intent.

We are building now photo attached. Contracters wife is a friend of my wifes, we are in the States now, my father inlaw is on site every day. The contracter we used also built a store for us in 2009, and a house for my mother inlaw in 2010. This is near Chumpueng. I am not sure where you are located. I could get you the name of the contractor if you are nearby. We were happy with the other work that he did for us!

I was in PP 2 weeks ago, was able to buy Thai baht 33 per USD.At $15 USD per day our hotel did not have internet in room, but had 2 Cham Yeamcomputes in the lobby no charge. The sim card and phone time for 6 days, cost me about 10 USD.

Look around Central Market for the money changers, you will always get a good exchange rate if your buying B.

Speaking of Cambodia USD to Baht rate, Anyone from the USA like myself, doing a border run to Cham Yeam. Ten minute taxi ride to the market at Koh Kong,and you can buy Baht with USD at a substantial savings over Thailand.
