  1. Very disturbing..makes me want to cry when I see it.

    Gut Wrenching.

A friend sent this photo of a horrible highway accident

in Germany. The picture may be kind of hard to take for some of you.

If you look closely you can see what appears to be some survivors of the

accident still in the wreckage. Although the picture is quite graphic,

it makes you realize how quickly our loved ones can be taken from us.

Take a moment today and spend some time with those you love, and let

this be a chilling reminder to all of you that life is just too short.

Survivers seem to be very shaken up!

    Shouldn't that be a "chilled" reminder :o:D

  3. Hep A 1200 baht BKK Red Cross.

Avaxim Vaccine from Aventis Pasteur, France. Dee maak

Larry, is this a one shot innoculation?

When I was innoculated for hep in the states, I had to return after one month for a second injection. cost 200 USD. Because of the obvious savings I would be interested in being innoculated in LOS next time, if it is a one shot vaccine.

Typhoid was 60 USD at the county health dept.

    Thanks Ray

Good Info. Thanks Larry. I will look into it again when I need next vacination.

  5. Newsflash;

An alien has been spotted in Mae Chan.

The Alien, about 80 cm tall was hovering and when approached by two locals, he declined to be interviewed and hovered away.

    Local police are investigating.

This is an English translation of Thai news so all details may not be acurate.

I THINK THAT I SAW THE SAME ALIEN DRINKING A CHANG, AND NEGOTIATING A BAR FINE! THE WORD IS OUT, SOON THEY WILL ALL BE HERE!

  6. If they are not bothering you leave them alone.

"Tirelessly swooping and diving in relentless pursuit of prey flies a number of often overlooked aerial phantoms that patrol the twilight hours between dusk and dawn.  They are the ultimate night time predator....the bat!  One bat can eat 600 mosquitoes in an hour!  Bats save farmers and gardeners millions of dollars each year by consuming numerous crop pests."

I dont like them myself, always the risk of aerosol transmission of rabies. I would be interested in how to get rid of them also.

  7. Here in the states, I live work and play in shorts from April thru october, except for the odd funeral or wedding.

Sirirat did insist that I bring a pair of long pants for visiting the temple last trip to the LOS.

I am surprized anyone would notice or care.

I will be on the look out for the farang fashion police next trip! :D

  8. Thanks for the replies all.

I have seen on a thai news site, that drought continues in parts of Nakhon Ratchasima,, wihich is somewhat near Buriram, and I am not sure exactly where mom and dads farm is. I will ask of course.

I tend to believe her. And I trust everyone, as you probably have noticed.

Maybe a good time to fly over for a visit.

  11. Any one near Burriram that can tell me what the rice crop conditions are at this time?

GF sent a photo today, of a dry rice field, also story of crops dying. I thought everywhere was getting rain at this time?

She has never asked for money, but wonder if she may be setting me up to do so.

What do you think actual dry conditions, or soon to be ex TGF?

    Thanks Ray

  13. I have went by Korean air, once with a connection in Chicago, and once With a connection in D.C. both flights went west, and where the cheapest I could find at that time. The best price I have found this year was $825 round trip Cleveland to Bangkok. Must purchase well in advance, and non refundable, But if you purchase the travel insurance, usually$25 to $35. they will cover your loss for legitiment reasons, Illness , emergencies, death in the family etc.

The prices have gone up because of increases in fuel costs, and I would be surprised to find a flight for under $1000 today.

I use a site called travelzoo to search and book on line. tried to copy and paste address, from my tool bar, would not do so to this forum,

    Good Luck Ray :o
