  1. I think it worth noting that Cambodia in general is not a "late night" country. Stores and restaurants (except in a few tourist ghettoes) close early and locals are home in bed at a comparatively early hour. ..and then up at the crack of dawn. 7 or 8 AM being considered normal hours for starting work and (as many of us have learned to our dismay) 6 AM is considered a perfectly normal time for visiting or calling upon friends.... that's just the way it is here.

As a result, streets are dark and quiet much earlier than they would be in other places. and here as anywhere else, a dark quiet street is not an advisable place for a stroll.

Simple rule of thumb: if you don't see "normal" (i.e. not dodgy, and both men and women) looking locals walking about, it is not the best idea for you to be either.

The problem of course is that most tourists and many expats want some nightlife. fair enough. But have it with due caution keeping in mind that say 10-11 PM in Cambodia is analogous to maybe 2-3 AM in your home country in terms of safety walking the streets: all the (local) decent folk are home asleep already.

This is true everywhere in Camb, nothing unique to SHV. It is just not a country of night owls, much the opposite.

I know for a start that G'Day Mate, the Aussie bar/hostel near to the bus station is 24-hours.Pretty sure there's a few others down on the beach also?
  2. I can confirm that Sihanoukville is indeed a very dangerous place,I have on many occasions been attacked by very beautiful and nubile Khmer cuties, generally while minding my own business in The Dolphin Bar.

These girls have forced me back to my hotel and had their way with me all night long,a very harrowing experience that has left me shocked and exhausted, their stamina is quite staggering.

Be careful out there,it's a jungle!

  3. Spicy is open till 6am.

Swing opens at 5am and shuts at 11am. Part-owned by the BiB. The only time I've ever known it to close was during the curfew imposed after the red shirt clashes with the army in 2010.

    Floods? It was open

Death of Supreme Patriarch? It was open

Most revered Buddha days?? It's open

Even when the police shut down all the late night joints like Bash, Insanity, Climax, Mixx, Scratch Dog . . . Swing is open

So it's the place to chill out while discussing with your fellow spank shop workers that massive deal you're going to get next week, when the new website's up and running as there's too much heat on the old one?
  4. As far as I'm concerned you can all go short and trade whatever you like. If you want to how to make money from investing and gave a peace of mind let me know. Your money in your money. Use it as you see it fit. Oh..., forgot, make sure you use maximum leverage so you have more fun.

Sent from my GT-I9190 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Why don't you explain the principles of leverage and how it works to us,should be no problem if you're capable of giving investment seminars should it?

Also, what would you say "maximum leverage" was?

  5. The old Dubliner by Phrom Pong used to be one of my favourite bars in Bangkok, not been into the new one so far, does anyone have anything to report on it?

Owned by all your boiler room chiseler mates, isn't it?

I've certainly heard the stories as has everyone else, doesn't make the beer taste any better or worse for me though.

You'd obviously know much better than me as these are your circles, aren't they?

Drinking with scumbags that relieve OAP'S of their life savings doesn't make the beer taste worse ? Seriously ?

The owner of your local could be a serial killer for all you know, would it make the beer taste any different?Of course not, don't be ridiculous!rolleyes.gif

  6. In my experience the internet in Thailand is surprisingly good.

There is a big difference however between ADSL and Cable.

ADSL connects via a phone line (copper wires) and has the advantage that you have your own line back to the exchange.

With Cable however (coaxial cable) you share the connection with many others in your street.

While Cable has good max speed, it is notorious for slowing down during peak hours.

So check the connection to your modem. Is it Cable (like a TV cable) or is it a normal phone line?

Another possibility is that you are using WiFi and are sharing the modem with many others (in a hotel, etc).

If one or two others are downloading large files, everything slows to a crawl.

I don't believe this is the case with the new DOCSIS set up from True Internet,I believe you have your very own dedicated IP address shared with no-one.smile.png
