What the bank are asking for is probate which is normal, this gives the executor powers to close any bank accounts and dispose of any assets , it is not normally understood that even with a will you need to go to court for probate. Average cost is 50,000 baht legal fees.

Not joking, I have details of two such companies both operate out of Bangkok but obviously the plane covers Thailand, you can even purchase repatriation costs.

What is your home country? For example UK passports can carry forward up to nine months from an old passport so in effect on your new passport you get ten years nine months. On receipt of the new passport go to immigration and they will transfer your details to your new passport then when that extension expires in August you can apply for a new extention as normal. The scenario you are describing means you would pay for two extensions @ 1900 baht each.

I have just finished the full routine (for me) at Jomtien Immigration (Soi5) this is a report of my personal experience.
End of March received new passport, went to Immigration, details transferred from old passport, (no charge)picked up next day, went straight to 90 day reporting, I was asked verbally to confirm my address, I confirmed and added I have lived there for eleven years (company house) . I then applied to British Embassy for proof of income letter, received this and waited until Songran mayhem finished. Went back to immigration last Friday and submitted paperwork for new extension, collected passport this morning complete with new extention and then submitted paperwork for re-entry permit, all completed I left the office having been there one hour.
My extension is marked "retirement" it is not a visa. At no time during any of the above procedures was I asked to complete a TM30, I have never completed one in the past and this was my twelfth extension. Hope this info is helpful but TIT and someone else could have a different experience, I can only report on mine.

Well it wasn't a wedding and they are not married ! Gay marriage is not recognised in Thailand so it was just a very expensive off fee!

I wish someone would tell Reuters that when the British Union FLAG is flown from a flag pole it is 'THE UNION FLAG. It only becomes a Union Jack when it is flown off the stern of one of Her Majesty's Royal Navy Ships! I am inclined to agree that this is a stunt by the Spanish to distract people from other issues on Brexit. Keep calm team and crack on with the other stuff. Gibraltar will never, ever be ceded to Spain and the EU do not have the authority to overturn the Agreement of Utrecht. Spain might like to return a couple of Island to Morocco that they stole!
The Union Jack is never flown from the stern of the Royal Navy ships !

I renewed my passport last week, last year I received a "proof of life" letter from the UK pensions so I used their covering letter and that worked. From application to receipt of passport was two weeks!

I was appointed executor by the family of a friend who had passed away as they did not want to come to Thailand, I had to appear in court to get probate which the bank asked for before I could close the account . Probate took six months and cost 50,000 baht. In this case it included, house, contents, car and substantial bank deposit.
