  1. I flew out of Bangkok on Sunday night. The immigration officer did NOT take my TM6 departure slip out of my passport and I didn't need to fill anything else in.

Haven't yet had time to catch up on other subjects ref TM6 but when I return to Thailand in a couple of weeks and they still don't use TM6, will that mean for immigration paperwork that require referencing TM6  I.e. 90 day report, I use the old TM6 number or will the forms scrap the requirement?

I have low hanging wires in many streets where I live and I am use to them. But sometimes a team of electrical workers are working on them and they go to lunch leaving a greater mess than before.

I'm absolutely with you. The health and safety here is non existent, which is why extreme caution is required even on a normal day, never mind when they are "improving" the wires ????

I'll take a 73 yr. old paying attention to the road over a 17 yr. old texting on his phone every time.

I think he wasn't paying attention. My post above explains what has been going on this last few weeks on this road. These weren't your normal dangling wires, this is all about a mass tidy up and loads of workers have been on that road. It really wasn't hard to miss what has been going on.

As for the bikers texting. I'm with you on that. Bladder idiots

  4. In fairness, anyone who lives in the Khoa Noi area knows the comms companies have been tidying up the wires for several weeks. This last week the road has been absolutely covered in wires that have been cut and left on the pavement / road until the truck comes and collects them. It was so obvious that extreme caution should have been observed for anyone riding on that road. We all know they don't have the same safety standards out here. I'm amazed that not of the workers have been killed. They literally put their wooden ladder on the road and climb up to do the cables. The odd one will have someone footing the ladder or a solitary cone at the bottom of the ladder.

Bank notes in my wallet have to be in order of value, which is probably not unusual.

Ditto that and with all the faces the same way. A mate of mine used to (probably still does) get notes in his change and scrumple them up in his pocket. Used to do my head in

Works are ongoing in Pattaya, since pre-Covid times, to remedy this problem by removing all this mess and lay cables underground. Pattaya Nua/North Rd and Klang are just a couple of many examples.

Is progress a bit slow? Yes, but it is progress nonetheless.

Please accept my fulsome apology for introducing facts into another Thai - bashing thread.

All they have done in Khao Noi and Talo is tidy them up a bit. Still ongoing and still a mess. After a few days you forget which ones they tidied up ????

The FPN is of no importance, what is important is that, with 16 or so parties

they showed no fear of covid while everyone else was in lockdown and the

economy ruined.  What would you conclude?

I think every political party have had some members who have breached the rules in some form. I would also wager if scrutinised, most of us on here if we are being honest would have breached the rules at some time. However, they are the ones who made the rules so they should have been extra vigilant. They are all as bad as each other IMO.

With regards the lockdown. I think ALMOST every country adhered to doing the same. Don't forget, the Labour party where condemning Boris for not locking down soon enough

Oh dear, just like Boris's gang, deny the facts countless times and believe your own fairy tales as true. Sorry but your utter denial of the facts in your fanciful world makes a factual conversation with you pointless so bye bye you are on ignore.

I see you are still unable to find anything that supports your view that a FPN is the same as a convicted criminal

Perhaps being fined is not  conviction in your make believe world but in the real world it certainly is.

If you want ignore the written law fine but it's your make believe world. In the real world the law is written down. If you can find me ANY article that states a FPN is counted as a Criminal Conviction please do so. In the meantime you may want to read this statement from the link below:-

    Quote

Is it classed as a conviction? No, but the information is still kept on the PNC. Acceptance and payment of a PND discharges all liability for that offence.

Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) / Penalty Notice for Disorder (PND) - Unlock

Edit:- Just to add for clarity. PND's are recorded on the PNC but in the main, Covid related FPN's are not

    Agreed not the same but he has committed a crime. As he has committed a crime, ratified by the issuance of an FPN he is hence a criminal. As to the fact it does not get entered as a criminal record is irrelevant to the fact. So sorry Mrbojangles, as much as the tory faithful would like to argue otherwise, he is a criminal, the definition of which is;

    crim·i·nal

    /ˈkrim(ə)n(ə)l/

    noun

a person who has committed a crime.

You stated that he was a "convicted criminal". I merely pointed out that statement is not correct.

Depends on how much you want to spend. You will either need insulators or DIY blue plastic pipe. Wooden posts insulate but won't last as long as concrete.

Wire spacing for cattle is easy but need lower wires if they have calves.

Energizer as has been said can be bought from Lazada but none of them are really weather proof.

Energizers use about 10W so any cheap solar trickle charger above 10W will do.

Aluminium wire is lighter and rust proof if you can find it.

Have a look around the neighborhood do you see any fences with strips of white shopping bag tied to the wire? If so the local cattle may already be trained to avoid electric fences and so all you need is the posts and the wire.

    Cheers Neal

Just found this on Lazada. What do you reckon? Is this the sort of thing that would cover it?

Seems it would be a lot easier & practical to simply run 1 or 2 lines of barbed wire.

I told the wife that but for some reason she wants electric. I think she's scared of the cows getting cut and getting infected

  14. The Mrs has some cows near our fish farms who roam around eating the grass. Her brother takes care of them but has to go and work somewhere. The Mrs doesn't want the cows to roam into the man sam palang field that is on the next plot and so want to put up an electric fence.

There is no electricity up there so looking for options how to power it. Thinking of a car battery type of thing but how could I charge the battery back up and would it need some sort of regulator etc? Anyone here done similar or have any ideas.
