  1. Good Post jamseyboi. :o

    Here are some more:

    - Nobody ever needs to go to the toilet EVER even when they are terrified.

    - People never get out of the house when there is obvious danger there (ghosts, murderers etc.)

    - Any apartment in Paris will have a view of the Eiffel Tower

    - Airplanes are always quiet enough to hold a deep conversation

    - People wear the same clothes for days on end and never need to shave.

    - All movie babies are born HUGE, usually the size of the average two month old.

    - In an office all the phones are ringing

    - police only have one case at a time to handle.

    - Plain girls always wear their hair in a bun and wear glasses and as soon as they take off their glasses and let their hair down, they're gorgeous

    - Cute animals never crap or pee.

    - Cars involved in accidents explode violently.

Whenever the hero is being chased he will always head upwards usually to the roof of a tall building where he will be forced to either jump or face his attackers.

    - The guy with the bullet-proof vest never gets shot in the head or arm.

    - Villains have no problem renting a helicopter complete with pilot who doesn't mind shooting total strangers, or being shot at.

    - All movie mothers will prepare a breakfast, usually consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon, etc. Dad and the kids will invariably arrive at the table 30 seconds before Dad has to leave for the office and the kids have to catch the school bus. Each will have time only for a sip of coffee/juice and/or one bite of toast. There must be enough food left over in these homes to feed an emerging nation!

  2. RASSADA: Banya Wosongkram, 20, a young laborer from Khon Kaen, died after being stabbed by his lover during a drinking session at a worker’s camp near the bridge to Koh Sireh on January 31.

The incident occurred while K. Banya was drinking with two friends and his lover Siam Raisanguan, 32, a married woman from Kalasin province.

Lt Col Ampolwat Saengreuang, Inspector at Phuket City Police Station, said, “Banya was sitting drinking with two friends, then he called the woman to come over, saying that he didn’t have any money for dinner.

“[When the stabbing happened] the group had already drunk two bottles of lao khao [rice whiskey] and were on their third. They were joking around about cheating and the man said ‘if I’ve cheated on you then you can kill me’.

“Siam then grabbed a fruit knife lying nearby and jabbed at K. Banya with the 8½-inch blade. The knife went into his chest,” Col Ampolwat said.

“The woman then pulled out the knife, causing the cut to bleed profusely, and screamed ‘Don’t die! Don’t die! I was only joking!’. His friends took him to hospital, but he died on the way,” he explained.

When police arrived at the scene, Siam was still standing outside with blood on her hands. She did not know that K. Banya had died, he added.

Despite claiming that the stabbing was an accident, Siam was charged with murder, Col Ampolwat said.

  3. Labs need a lot of exercise and from my experience suffer frequently from hip problems.

They are very loving so do not make good guard dogs as they are too soppy.

As the duck said a poodle would be a good choice in a small garden but I would go for a good 'ol mongrel Soi dog. check out www.soidog.org or equivalent in Bangers. Good luck on whatever you choose and know that people with dogs live longer statistically due to stress release.

  4. From the BBC today:

"Apple has told iTunes users to "wait" before upgrading their computers to Microsoft Windows Vista, saying its music software may not work properly.

The company said it is aware of several issues including problems playing purchased files and synchronising data.

Apple's support website said a new version of iTunes for Vista should be ready "in the next few weeks".

iTunes allows computers to synch data with iPods. Vista, the newest version of Windows was launched 30 January.

    Compatibility issues

Apple outlined the compatibility issues and suggested workarounds for those already using Vista in a support document on its website.

Some problems listed were: failure to play music and video purchased from the iTunes store; poor animation performance; and a failure to automatically synchronize media, contacts and calendars.

Apple has also offered Vista users a downloadable tool that will "repair permissions for important files," but does not specify the precise nature of the incompatibility.

According to Associated Press newswires, the company has sold more than 90 million iPods since October 2001.

    Microsoft response

Microsoft has a team working with Apple to make iTunes fully functional on Windows Vista, Adam Anderson, a Microsoft Windows spokesman told AP.

He added that the company did not believe these issues were a reason stop using Vista.

When Vista launched, Microsoft said more than 5,000 hardware and software products were already compatible with the operating system.

Both Apple and Microsoft declined to comment on the issue further."

For me Vista is a poor imitation of OSX which has already been around a long time and is about to get even better with Leopard - but then I'm a Mac guy.

  5. For me I can only think of one thing that stands out: The loss of democracy and with that the loss of political stability and international recognition as a modern nation. I'll leave it up to each and everyone's political persuasions to decide for yourselves if this loss happened in September last year, or gradually during the last few years under the previous PM, or that it was all merely a democratic facade from the get-go; take your pick. But the result is that Thailand is not (and perhaps never was) a nation to bet your life on, to make serious investments in, or make a living in long term.

A lot of the posts above seem to deal with a particular place that changed. I'd say that's only natural; you can't expect to go back to Paradise-X and expect it to have stayed the same; you will need to go find your current paradise.. Same with 'too many farangs'. Where, Sukhumvit? Chiang Mai even? Sure.

    Cheers,

    Chanchao

Good intelligent post Chanchao - I agree - I miss democracy

  6. A dustman is going along a street picking up the wheelie bins and emptying them into his dustcart lorry.

He gets to one house where the bin hasn't been left out so he has a quick look for it (unusual I know), goes round the back but still can't see it so he knocks on the door.

There's no answer so he knocks again. Eventually a chinese bloke answers...

    "Harro", says the chinaman.

"Alright mate. Where's your bin?" asks the dustman.

"I bin on toilet" replies the chinese, looking perplexed.

Realizing the man has misunderstood, the bin-man smiles and says "No mate, where's ya dust bin?".

"I dust bin on toilet I told you" says the chinese man.

"Mate" says the dustman... "you're misunderstanding me... Where's your Wheelie Bin?"

"OK" "OK" , says the Chinese, "I wheelie bin having wank"

  7. There was a discussion about the "arrival lounge" at Suvarnabhumi in another thread.

I just arrived with TG domestic in business class, and are now sitting in this so called "Waiting Lounge" waiting that the checkin counter to open for an international flight. This lounge is located between Domestic Departures and TG International First/Business class checkin rows.

Nice good seats, but no refreshments or toilets. No free Wi-Fi, so I use GPRS/EDGE.

Boring place, but now I have seen it....

[Now moving downstairs to restaurant area for a Chang session and some food]

Recently had to fly from Phuket to Issan on urgent family affairs and caught last flight out of Phuket with early morning connection in BKK.

As we had our child with us and we had to overnight for 6 hours+ I asked if there was any lounge where the boy could sleep in. Told the answer was no! We ended up in the Sky lounge bar where I drank all night just so as my son could sleep. :o

I Had a laptop with me so tried to get onto WiFi.

Needed a Name and Password for AOT network. Out of boredom I typed in "test" twice and it worked! Had a 2m download which is unheard of in Phuket. Spent the night watching videos on youtube.
