Does anybody know why Thailand is called Thailand???

  Why did they drop the name 'Siam' and call themselves Thailand. Personally I think they should go back to the name 'Siam', as it just sounds more exotic!!!

Have you thought about your living accomodation???

   Foreigners in Siam can only purchase 'Condominiums'!

You CANNOT own a house or land. Unless you buy the house or land and put it 100% in your wifes name, and then sign a  form saying she bought the house/land with her OWN money, and that you have absolutley NO claim to it what-so-ever!!!

   Up- country there is NO condominiums for sale. And do you really plan to 'rent' for the rest of your life in Siam???

  And surely you aren't even gonna think of buying a house/land and putting it in your wifes name are you???

Well these guys are so stupid its unbeliveable. I mean we had 'gullible jullian', and his magical suitcase full of diamonds, which magically turned into 4 kgs of pure heroin.

  And now these 2 clowns. Im still amazed to see that people are so stupid to go to Thailand and get involved in this scam. The penaltys are so severe, that it just amazes me people still do it!

  Well I hope these guys enjoy ladyboys, and long hot sticky days and nights sleeping on the floor. Coz thats what they will be doing for the next 9-10 yrs, until they can transfer home!

Well if you loaned out 1 million bhat, and it wasn't repayed, then loaned out another, and another. On top of paying off the mortgage, to a property you will never have any legal rights too. Well it just goes to show that a fool and his money are easily parted.

   Sounds like the entire family took you right to the cleaners! And Im not being cold, but if you were that gullible, then the family deserved every penny you stupidly gave them!

   Oh word of warning, when taking back-hoe to the house. Make sure you have armed bodyguards, and are wearing full body armour.

  How can you as a regular visitor to Thailand even consider leaving the country with anything (yes even if it is a person). Now Imagine if that person got caught taking 'HERION' out of the country! Then you would be involved and be totally f****d, and now doing a 100 year sentence@Bangkwang.

  Well as for the threats etc, just move to another area. And hang out@different places. If the Thai mafia ever get a whiff that you intend to grass them up, you will end up dead, or one day you might get stopped by police and they might just happen to find 2 or 3 kilos of herion in your bag (know what I mean). Fancy getting involved in the first place. Getting involved with Mafia from whatever country will always end in tears. Your best bet is to leave Thailand for a couple of years, then go back and start a fresh somewhere else.

  Don't even think of grassing, as it aint your country, so its none of your business.

  It still amazes me to this day the amount of idiots who send money to all these thai girls that they meet in chatrooms etc, and on the internet etc.

  No wonder the thais think we are a bunch of idiotic walking ATM's, when fools do things like that.

Just tell them u have a degree!!!

   There can be many 'FAKE' degree certificates bought in Thailand, especially on Koh san road (many english teachers in bkk have bought these!!!).

    Basically in Thailand, you are a nobody without a degree.

But remember that the Thai degree is only about the same value as A-levels, or College graduate in the UK and the rest of the west.

  For a Thai student to start a Degree course@university in the UK, they first need to have a Degree from Thailand before they will be accepted on the course, because their degree is of little value in the west.

  So don't worry about it, just tell them you have one, and if they ask for a certificate, just go to Koh san road, and buy one! (100's of other foreigners in bkk have done the same).

Well I saw this and thought I must give my 2 cents......

     OK firstly if I were you, I would take your website 'OFF' the internet, and forget about your brother being released from Prison. Firstly, there is a case 'Alan John Davies', out there in BKK, and the thing that has hindered his possible release, is the fact that family etc, have been putting up websites for the world to see. This action enrages the Thai authourities, and 'WILL' harm your brothers chance of early release.

  Do all the campagining you like, but get that website 'OFF' the net.

 Secondly, about your brothers case........well..........he has got 'NO chance' at all. Im very sorry to say this, but here's how it looks.  Your Brother is caught@BKK airport with Herion in 'HIS' suitcase. OK when he checked in, he awnsered 'YES' to the question...........'did you pack your bag yourself', and he awnsered 'NO' to the question, 'are you carrying anything for anybody else'!

 All of which are logged on to the airlines 'check in' computer.

 Not only that, but your brother WAS '34 yrs old' when he was arrested, now this is hardly the case of a 'gullible young teenager'. Also you must see this the way myself, and the Thai authorities, and most of the people reading about your brothers case see it.................which is............who the hel_l would be so stupid to take a suitcase through customs without 'CHECKING' it yourself 'FIRST', to see if it really did contain diamonds, and nothing else!!! And to do this in Bangkok of all the places in the world............well.......the mind boggles! The whole thing sounds a bit far fetched to me Im afraid.

Every month the Thai courts hear similar stories 'oh but I didn't know that was in there, even though it was 'ME' who checked that bag in for the flight, and 'YES' that is my suitcase'.................yeah whatever!

  I know, its just not fair is it, its wrong, what a great shame the other guy got caught, hmmmm funny how 'HE' got off in Vienna 'AFTER' he grassed up the whole firm back in Bangkok, and gave details of their next assignment. No wonder he was released. Let me put it to you this way, IF your brother had taken a flight to Heathrow airport in London instead of Taiwan. And if he did get out off BKK sucsessfully, but was unfortunate to get caught by 'British Customs' in London.

Do you really think he would have got away with it here, giving the story he did..............NO of course he wouldn't, and for 4 kgs of pure herion, and going not guilty@court (no jury in the world would aqquit him), he would recieve a sentence here of 15yrs!!! But...........because he got caught in Thailand where the conditions are terrible, well...............shame.  

  Your brother, at that age and especially since he was working in Thailand, should have known 'better than ANYBODY' out there not to go to airports, doing smuggling jobs for people 'WITHOUT' checking the suitcase he is carrying 'FIRST'.

   Don't worry, he wont be executed, but you just better get used to the idea, that his death penalty will be commuted to a 100 year 'life' sentence, or if he's VERY and I mean VERY lucky, he could get 50yrs (but he would have to plead guilty to get that). And at the moment the Thai govt, and even the Thai King, are getting fed up of the ammount of foreigners who are 'stupid', and smuggle drugs out of the country, and the King himself has called for the courts to be tougher on Drug Smugglers, especially the foreign ones. Your brothers case couldn't have happened at a worse time!

  You will have to face reality, that your brother will never have these charges dropped, and it will be 9-10 yrs until he can transfer to a British Prison, and he will have to wait (because of his age, and the fact he should have known better), at least another 10 yrs after that before he will be released.

 Sorry to be the burden of bad news, but you will just have to get used to it.

P.S. I read somewhere that the BBC filmed you out in BKK, for a programme about the British Embassy there, could you be kind enough to tell me when this programme will be on T.V.?

If I were you I would completley forget about the idea of going to the mother with interpriter, and saying what you think, coz if u do that, the whole family/village will turn on you, and you could very well end up with a knife in your back, and being buried and forgotten about!!! If you are going to take this route, I would take some 'farang' bodyguards, who will be armed!!! And Im not joking either!

    Don't even bad mouth the mother to another member of the family, no matter how much wrong she has done, Thai ppl regard their mother/father like gods!

   OK also I hope you NEVER give the brother ANY money at all. It will be spent down the local booze shop. Or on a  gambling  spree. It seems like the whole family are deciding to go into early retirement, and you will be footing the bill.

  OK also I hope you are sending the mother NO money, if you are sending her 4000bhat a month, you are mad, and are just being used. 1000 baht will feed 40 people in issarn!!! So....1000 baht will feed mother for 3 weeks, and that is if she eats out@restraunts everyday. If she cooks@home, 1000 baht will be more than enough money for one month. So I suggest you cut your payment by 3000 baht. Because when your money arrives it will just be given round all of the family, so really you are supporting the whole crew.

   Unfortunatley the village/issarn Thais are very lazy, and if they can get out of work, they will. And the daughter will be used to get this from gullible farangs, i.e. YOU.

  No matter how much money YOU have yourself, it's YOURS and not THEIRS!!!
