Awright!!! I'm sorry if someone has already posted what i believe to be the most common sense powered reason why she's not been allowed to show up but I don't have the time or inclination to wade through 8+ pages. Nongkhai borders the capital of Laos, PTP and UDD have a reputation for (AHEM!!) buying support,
She shows up + a load of bought, drunk, none to keen on Thailand anyway young Laos lads = A recipe for violent disaster
You don't need to be a soothsaying mystic to see this been a likely outcome. The Govt saw this and nipped it in the bud.
End of story

No need to conscript when you have plenty of off-duty servicemen with experience working as guards for the PDRC.Just ask Gen. Prayuth when the need arises. That way the soldiers can get double pay.
as opposed to off duty cops working and actively supporting (providing arms) to the UDD I suppose.

The sheer arrogance of these guys never ceases to amaze me, they act like they're doing you a favor by providing a taxi service and then when you in clearly spoken Thai ( and not some b***erdized version of Laos) give directions on how to get to your destination which means they cannot f++k around trying to overcharge you with the excuse of the distance they would've covered and therefore don't get their thieving rip off price, they get all shirty and in your face (if you're lucky). I am so glad they are getting a hard time from this current administration, it's been way too long over due and all of the above applies to taxi drivers as well.

Please try to keep up with things the Shinawatra led PTP made populace promises and then did not deliver on them. The NCPO says things and then delivers on them even if they are not popular. They are also cleaning up the mess you people left the country in. It is a time consuming job. The present estimate of completion is over a year away.
Who were you in your last incarnation? You post like calgaryll.
Yingluck was unable to deliver because of Yellow Shirt obstructionism,...which the Military does not have to deal with. Yingluck went out of her way, over and over, to include the Yellow Shirt egomaniacs. Look at the Reconciliation Forum of 2013,....Suthep spit all over it,.
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/aug/16/thailand-denies-paying-tony-blair-fee-forum
Suthep is a 100% obstructionist of everything not of the Bangkok elite.
Suthep and the anti govt protests were non existent before the amnesty bill the original protesters (apart from the Guy Fawkes mask assemblies) were against that bloody amnesty bill and during the time of the initial protests Oct last year there was little doubt that they were anti govt however they were most certainly anti amnesty bill protests first and foremost I remember Abhsit at Samsen train station receiving a rock star standing ovation and Suthep was nowhere to be seen. Because of Yinglack's (Thaksin??) determination in shoving that bill through parliament by any (illegal) means necessary she caused the whole movement to gain momentum and morph into what became the biggest street protests/marches this country has ever seen. Yes Suthep didn't want to compromise but Yinglack has only herself to blame. That bill was an abomination in its scope and all for one breathtakingly selfish reason. Bring back Big Bro, and you expect people to reconcile with PTP and some members (and tellingly not all) of the UDD etc... after they tried and almost succeeded in pulling that one off. Ordinary decent law abiding Thais (NOT elites/Hiso) could and will never reconcile with a group of individuals who basically wanted to empty the prisons just so one despised individual could return back to his native country and I don't blame them!

I'm on the other side of this fence. For those never being in the scene its easy to call it stupid. I grew up street racing. Its sort of a passing. Some kids grew up being book worms, some play school sports, others did nothing, some learn how to tune and race cars and motorcycles on the street.
Going out and picking fights with people who don't look like me, and setting hobos on fire, and stealing cars for joy rides are rites of passage, too. I, too have fond memories of stuff I did that could have ended up as tragedy for innocent people. Young, dumb and bulletproof, we were. Yet, not all of us survived our teen years. (Most of what we did involved drinking until senseless, before, after, and while driving)
If the participants want to kill themselves, so be it. If it puts bystanders at risk, it needs to be stopped. Cordoned off areas and tracks are a great idea.
holy sh*t! you set homeless people on fire. Christ I thought I had some bad stuff to take to the grave.

How many suspended sentences can one man accumulate before he sees the inside of a jail? This fat b#astard seems to enjoy a blessed existence. He can do whatever he wants and it is all whitewashed. I am simply speechless.
Oh dear ! Oh dear. You must have been absolutely devastated when Suthep had to resign his ministery job to avoid jail for giving govt land to Hi-so mates and enroachment and Palm Oil scams amongst other crimes.
"exposing in the public the illegal wiretapping of phone conservation between former PM’s Office Minister Pol Maj Gen Peeraphan Premphuti and Mr Viraj Chinvinichkul, former secretary of the Supreme Court and Mr Phairoj Vananuj,"
Rest assured old sailor this is just the beginning of a whole heap of charges including the treasonous secession of the north east and the north from the rest of Thailand, inciting violence and even a call for civil war (Nattawut) that these 2 <deleted> are facing and as for Suthep sure he's no angel but the corruption charges mentioned in your post pale into insignificance in comparison with the antics these 2 again <deleted> have gotten up to in the last year or so.

I don't doubt that at all , but to be seen to be punishing the , for want of a better word, losers , of the last political wrangle may not be the best of strategies if they want some kind of lasting accord
True, oh so true. God forbid that the courts are seen to apply justice. Would be bad strategy, or as former CAPO head Pol. Capta'in Chalerm said "violence might break out if not the 'right' solution was provided"
I know it doesn't suit your agenda but Chalerm did not say "violence might break out if not the 'right' solution was provided".
This is how that particular comment was recorded by the media;
"Labor Minister Pol Capt Chalerm Yoobamrung, who is also the CAPO director, expressed his fears that violence could break out if the premier was found guilty of her charges regarding the unfair transfer of former National Security Council (NSC) chief Thawin Pliensri and corruption in the government’s rice pledging scheme."
Quite different to your version isn't it? There's a reason for that, the second version is not a lie.
Talk about semantics

Personally I have been waiting for a specific date from the Immigration, an amnesty period for people in overstay trouble here.
I (and not my friend..) have been saving up money for my ticket back home and the overstay fine. Now when I finally got it, I wake up to these news.
I am not writing to discuss the actual overstay, just saying I have had a reason for doing so. I have not been involved with any criminal activity whatsoever here or back home.
I am just a man falling in love with my wife here in Thailand several years ago, and have been doing everything I can to stay with her and our kid.
My income has been up and down, and during the down-times, I just postponed the visa renewals for a while, hoping to fix it when my income (from renting out two condos in my country) where up and going again. The later it got, the more expensive it became, so here I am.
Reading the posts here the last weeks, I have been trying everything I can do pay my fine, and get a proper visa once again.
But this stranded today.
Now I will obviously get a 3 years ban when I leave for my home country to fix this problem, so why leave?
A ban from seeing my wife and kids for years, are not an option.
I will probably get caught in the future, and deported, but for now, I just can not leave.
This will probably apply for many of the overstayers now. It will be just a mess.
And everything could easily have been avoided by setting a date in the near future, or having an amnesty for a short period of time.
These new rules of punishments has just been in the open for a couple of weeks, NOT for months, as someone say here.
And how many of farangs read thaivisa.com? Not everyone, believe me.
For most of you, we who overstays for different reasons, are trash, and you want us out. Okey, I can understand that, but have in mind most of us has never done enything wrong in this country besides overstaying, We of course want to stay legally, but not all of us have the right age (retirement), or the right amount in the banks. Many of us will not meet the right requirements in the future either, when they are clamping down on back to back TVs and visa excempts.
Myself, I have spent my good share of my own money in this country, and are not the trash you think you are talking about. And many of us have it the same way.
The result of these new rules getting immidiate affect, is that we will not get our visas right. And we will just not leave, when a ban is awaiting us anyway.
You are NOT trash. The people who like to write that at people here, are just very unhappy, and very lost as to how to feel good about themselves. You are NOT trash!
I wish you and your family the best
Thank you for your concern, John.
I know my actions can get consequences when I overstay, but I am really surprised that I can`t get a chance to make it right.
That is really bad news for my family here, and could easily have been avoided by the immigration.
We are many in the same situation, who just want to make this right, and stay here legally.
NO WAY are you trash mate and it may be somewhat cold comfort but you are most certainly not alone
Keep the faith

These NCPO requests (the other one about conveying something) are really kinda understandable, they have been given an undeserved rotten press (J.Head etc...etc...etc.....) by the western media ( and it seems only THE WESTERN MEDIA) and with very few exceptions just about every one of their policies since they started 23-05-14 have been of benefit to the Thai people and westerners living here particularly in BKK. They are just asking for a bit of slack to be cut. Again totally understandable.
Benefit to westerners living here. Please elaborate...
Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
Simply put maxme:
Streets safe from bombs bullets
Sh**ar*e taxi driver rip offs reduced
Roads safer
less corrupt cop scams
No protest sites and marches ( which I didn't necessarily disagree with ) blocking roads and causing traffic jams
and there are more....

It's not exactly definitive proof but it sure as hell is a sign that Thaksin really doesn't give a sh** about anyone but himself. Hell, he even dropped his baby sister in the ----. Remember those skype calls when she (In tears) begged him to let her resign and he apparently screamed at her to remain in office and look where that got her, Poor Cow and as for Nat, Jat and the rest I am damned sure the leaders at the moment wouldn't let them go the W.C without an armed guard (Quite rightly so) even if they were invited which pointedly they have not been. Wake up He DOES NOT CARE about you red supporters and he never will.

This situation is kinda a win-win for the NCPO, if she goes and doesn't return she will be found guilty in absentia on one or many of the present and future charges she faces and will face and the current rulers will have deleted another one of the Shinawatra brood from this land of smiles. If she returns (and she could, I will say one thing for Yingee she has shown more spine than her older male clone) then the leaders will have the satisfaction of putting one of the Shin family members through the justice system and finding her (undoubtedly) guilty. And if this scenario occurs IMHO she'll get some type of pardon. Shrewd move by the NCPO all round.

So a former PTP member complains about reforming the rtp (or should I say Thaksin's bootboys).
-
To be honest this is pretty lame and childish stuff. I remember when teaching up country ( I won't mention where) a few years ago it didn't happen everyday but it was still common knowledge to put a wrapped bottle of Johnnny's best on the teacher's table with the students name in a card and that student would get top grades.

Don't bother General. I ran into these cobra gold types a couple years running 10+ years ago in Udon. The only Thais who'll miss them are bar owners, their staff and short time hotels if you know what I mean

Possibly someone should have told them that a couple or three years back and enforced it.
The Code of Conduct has been in place since 2010 (http://www.acfs.go.th/standard/download/eng/GMP_rice_mill.pdf) so the Warehouse and Silo owners have no excuse that they were not aware of the best practises for storing rice.
So you are saying the PTP Govt did not enforce this code of conduct? Did not conduct proper and thorough inspections, one would even say lied about many inspections that where supposed to be completed with the news we hear today?
Even though all the while warehouse storage (for rice and rubber) space increase 4 fold during their abbreviated term
If you had read the link I provided you would have found out that the Code of Practice was "promulgated by Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to be used as guidelines for the development of rice production system at the farm level" and that it was a "voluntary standard in accordance with the Agricultural Standards Act B.E. 2551 (2008) to promote such agricultural commodity to meet its standard on quality and safety."
If you're that desperate to find a stick to beat the PTP with, fill your boots.
and there is a wide selection of sticks too choose from

OH the irony A politcal party called people with a heart calling for the death penalty for a relatively minor criminal offence. What next indeed????

"Thais needed to be well prepared in their skill sets, both professional and language skills, particularly English"
Yes absolutely yes so why is Thailand one of the lowest paying nations in ESL teaching in SEA. You can make about 30 to 35 US an hour teaching IELTS in Vietnam here your very lucky to get above 500 Baht and why is the task of getting work permits/visas an expensive and unpleasant one (ever dealt with a immigration/consulate official in a bad mood? Jeeez your short term and long term personal life and career future are in the hands of a racist with a lousy attitude)
Older brother thing???
Never happen in order for Thais to achieve this they must ditch their undeserved and unjustified superiority complex (Thainess I believe its called )and be honest about who they are and the country they live in

An irrelevant story about a non-event that has no bearing on the current situation -- a perfect junta news story.
As I have stated previously..I am not a Thaksin fan but only a fool would ever discount this man from returning. Its takes the word of one and Thaksin will return and the worlds of those who are trying to change the political landscape will live in fear. A certain pairing will reek havoc on the current elites. Thaksin is a man who wants revenge and he is not alone
That certain pairing you mentioned (I'll call a partnership) has about as much chance of happening as a partnership (physical and sprirtual) between myself and Miss World. And these days particularly on Sunday morning after a Sat night on the p**s Quasimodo looks at me in the bathroom mirror.

All serious law breakers should be brought to book, but all the killings and injuries came about because of anti democratic street protests when the leaders of PDRC deliberately fomented violence in the community
Now the country is under military rule again. The ideal of a democratic Kingdom once again on the back burner
Is Thailand a better country now than before the protests and the 'coup'?
As someone who doesn't mind living under any system
as long as it generally affords security and a peaceful existence the current scenario is fine with me, but there will be many 'libertarians' who must find the current situation intolerable
Mostly foreigners post on this forum it seems.
How would you feel if, every time you returned your favoured political party into office, the opposition organised protest after protest until the government you elected were forced out of office? Angry? Complacent?
Judging by many of the comments I have read on here it wouldn't take long for the 'red mist' to descend
The protests would have never happened if it wasn't for the amnesty bill prior to that happening there weren't hardly any protests just a few guy fawkes mask wearing incidents. And if it wasn't for that amnesty bill the democratically elected PTP would almost certainly still be in power, the farmers would still not have been paid. That amnesty bill was just way too much for decent honest ordinary Thais (even some reds) to take and they acted accordingly.
