  1. This explains it quite well:

    http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/difference-between-lcd-and-led.htm

I think that an LED TV has a better picture, but as was said earlier it depends on the Signal Quality going in.

One big improvement that everyone can make, is to have good quality low signal loss leads.

I replaced the Aerial Lead a few years back & got a much better picture. So often cheap leads don't fit the sockets tightly, which results in interference.

Mains lead are also very important - you can pay literally 1000's for them & yup, they do make a huge, noticeable difference.

  2. You need to think about what happens when you might have a health problem, coz we're not so young in body as we were.

If you've got a good reliable internet connection & transport...well it could be a lovely way to spend the next 20 years.

The OP started a decent thread not slagging off Thailand, said some great things & I thought 'what a nice guy'.

Never mind, wasn't long before several bitter members came along & attempted to ruin it.

There are many people on here who post interesting, helpful & positive things, & who try to see the good in life, despite the shoite that happens.

Then, there are the others who sound like bitter men sucking a Lemon.

I like a good lemon in the morning.

So long as it's cleanly trimmed! whistling.gif

  5. It's good to see some positive reflections & opinions.....for a change.

What amazes me though on here & everywhere else is when people say that & 'due to experience & time spent in such & such as situation' they now understand more.

Of course this is true to a certain extent as we do learn, & with this learning we also change, then we revaluate the situation based on this.

Have a good trip back, be happy & stay healthy. smile.png

  6. No one's perfect, no country is perfect....we all of us make mistakes.

Everything has positives & negatives & many people like to moan or discuss this.

But quite often what I see on here, judging by the forthright posts, is a complete disatisfaction of, & lack of respect for Thailand.

If it is so bad...why do these people live there?

Can't we all try to behave like the gentlemen many of us profess to be? rolleyes.gif

  7. Wrong. It was nest. A parrot will not have sex till the male builds her a nest. Food may be a factor or the female may be the food provider like lions. But there is always a nest, home or den or whatever you want to call it.

You really think Rupert Murdoch is stupid?

I'm still waiting for an answer to my question

Let me pose a question for you: If, as you foolishly suggest, women don't care how men look, why aren't all the fat, bald, ropey old dullards back in the West smashing the arse out of all the premium totty?

    Don't be shy now

    Coz they've all moved here.

  8. Takes work to be in a relationship regardless of the cultural differences. I have had my share of differences with the wife of 6 years mostly to do with the spoiled younger brother. The rest of her family is OK, but Nong is a 29 year old living as though he were 12. Most recently we (wife and I) had a spat about him as he's staying with us for a month between terms at medical school. I was finally able to show her examples of how every time he comes to visit we have a problem, not just with me, but with other foreigner friends too. She thought about it for a while and finally said, Nong does't know how to interact with foreigners. She said she can't talk to him as he has to figure it out for himself but at least she is now seeing it from another perspective and even said she didn't want him to come with us to the states next time we go as she clearly sees he isn't capable of dealing with non-Thais.

I still find my relationship to be far healthier than any I ever had in the states. I mainly attribute that to my growing up and not running away from the person just because of a problem.

Thus my perception of having a Thai wife is that with work, lots of dialogue and compassion, problems can be overcome.

Recent advice I was given by a friend is that if you're getting serious with a Thai lady the first question should be:

    Do you have a brother?

    If the answer is yes....RUN!!!

    Why....? smile.png

  9. They have over 20000 road deaths every year, and some farang PC guy moans about "human rights" when they have a pee test.

The brainwashing in the West is really beyond belief.

Do I take it then that you think the Police should have a free reign to do whatever they want?

And justify their methods with a crime prevention arguement?

I'm in complete agreement of the bib doing roadside tests, but why not shelter the blokes penis, so people can't see it?
