  1. ?

A review of a Japanese restaurant gone astray. Its a combo of Misu soup with Tira added to it. Tira is a type of dog found only in Japan :o

Very well put!. Amazing how you came up with that.

  2. Tiramisu.......You guys have no idea.....I am the Tiramisu master.

My Tiri is legendary.....It is better than the Italian masterpiece itself.

I have known females to involuntary orgasm at my Tiramisu.

    Ask my wife....

    and???

  3. Hi everybody, if you got only 3 days to spare in CM and you want to enjoy to the fullest, How can you make best use of the time in CM? For example like which entertainment, restaurant, places to visit, things you want to do like tailor a shirt, visit a dentist , go hiking or any other things.

thats a lot to do in three days. hope its not a root canal that you are looking for in CM.

  4. I realize that this is not as important as Mexican food or the best breakfast deal in Chiengmai but, yes this wild dog is unique and indigeneous to Asia. They are an endangered species and have never been scientifically recorded in North Thailand (still not) . Local villagers started to notice them for the first time in 2004. In a time when Thailand's environmental degradation is expected it is a sign of promise. The reports I get from hunters is that their numbers are increasing.

Far more inportant than Mexican food :o Why didn't you make your point sooner?

Asian Wild Dog (Cuon Alpinus) indigenous to SE Asia. This carnivore hunts in packs of five or more, and preys on herbivores such as small deer. The photo below was taken about 1998 in the Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary, which was listed as a World Heritage site in 1991

Photo from Wildlife in the Kingdom of Thailand

My dog ran away sometime in 2004 too. Could be with them. He looked kinda unique though. At least I know where to find him now.

  5. If you want a USB or SIP phone then you will need to order it from abroad... I have searched high and low and no luck.

However there are some good options available. If your using a Apple then the Imic by Griffin is a USB device which allows you to plug in a regular style headset. The device has an input and output jack and does all the things a USB phone does in terms of sound quality and removing electrical noise.

I was using such a setup and happy with the quality.. My employer sent me a SIP USB phone from the states and its identical quality..

If you need a SIP phone to log directly into a PBX then the above setup does not work for most options. If however you just use Skype or Xten etc then its works great.

Not sure if there is a PC equivalent. They Imic might work on a PC come to think of it.. But not sure.

I FOUND IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes .. here in chiang mai. After walking all 4 floors there in Pantip, Chiang Mai, I'd lost hope but the last shop I went to. I got it. Ok for those of you who want this USB phone. THe shop is named PANTIP NETWORK Co. Ltd. Its on the second floor if I am not mistaken. Lot Number 152/1. But I told the lady there that many people are looking for this thing. (no i wont be making anything there) Its a small shop specialising in networking. Brand is Artech B1. Comes in Maroon, White and Black. THere was only one maroon and I got it. Price THB1,300. Got it for 1,250. Tried and tested and works perfectly. So so happy with it man .. Thanks to skype and B1. all th best.

She just got this new stock today and I reckon its going to be sold off soon.

    Its worth the money IMO.

http://www.b1club.com/price/ for anyone who wanna see what it looks like. Its the B1.

I also need to add that at the moment, the drivers for this phone only supports Skype. According to their website, they are developing drivers that would work with other messangers such as Yahoo and MSN and would anounce that shortly. I am satisfied with Skype, so this set up works fine.

  6. Well. Use Skype a lot nowdays. Yes the option is a headset. But I rather have a USB phone. Before I go on my excursion on finding it, does anyone happen to know a shop that sells it in Chiang Mai???

Please don't move this topic to interet, tech etc etc. I think Chiang Mai people know chiang mai best!

  7. If any vehicle is detected emitting excessive black smoke, measured at more than 75 percent, that vehicle will be considered to be below the minimum standard and the driver will be fined 1,000 baht and the vehicle put off the road. Vehicle owners will be forced bring the engine up to standard and have it checked again before it will be allowed back on the road.

Now, that would have been a good idea, except that it didn't happen the way it as planned in the news release.... :o

Black smoke??? ###### it, I got fined for a truck that was emitting nothing close to BLACK SMOKE!

  8. I have been following released of digital cameras as a hobby. Tell me what your budgets are in THB of course and I'll tell you what to go for. I a member of various international digital camera forums.

Just to disagree with someone mentioning that digital cams in thailand are expensive. They are not. They are reasonably priced and prices drop rather fast here compared to UK or USA. They can even be cheaper to Malaysia or Singapore.

  9. Happen to come across yahoo domains selling at 1.99. Extremely cheap. I got myself three new ones. In case any of you are webmasters and wanna get a domain name, instead of the regular 8.99 or so.

ps. this is not spam. better clear it off in case i get banned ! :o

  10. Saw a couple of puppies today, in the market just off Hai Ya Rd, Bottom Left of Square C5 in this map.

Thanks a lot for the information.

I went Saturday and there were two Dalmatians. We purchased one.

    Regards

    suntan

How much did you pay for the dalmation? if you don't mind me asking.

I did go to a dog shelter in Sansai area on Saturday. Its associated with Lanna Dog Rescue and run by someone named Khun Joy. Met with a caretaker there and he showed me all the wonderful dogs they have there. About 40 plus of them that they picked up from around chiang mai and being taken care by them. If any of you forum members are looking for a dog as a pet and not particular about breed or whether its a pedigree or not, perhaps you can consider adopting a dog there. I spent about a good hour there and most of the dogs were just lovely. Well behaved and not tempremental.

    just a suggestion.

  11. Come on people add some houses outskirts or highway Chaing Mai 2 weeks before it needs to be done!

    :o

i don't really get your question but there was a lot of discussion here:

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=60917

if san kampheng is your choice area, then IMHO, Sivalai Village 3 seems to have the right price for a good lot with beautiful house. Absolutely no idea about any other areas.

(i am not a broker, i am not a salesman, i am in no way associated with the developers, and you are all grown ups in deciding whats best for your money, after all we live in chiang mai :D good deal!)

  12. Don't know where to start on this but I did enjoy building some model planes and cars when I was a lot younger. It was all just amatuer ways of doing it though. Regular paint brushes and cheap paint. But never had the finances then to get into this hobby seriously. Now that I have some free time (when kids asleep & wife busy doing whatever) and its not really an expensive hobby, i'd like to get into it.

what i do know is that there isnt much shops etc focusing on this stuff here in chiang mai. just wondering if any of you nice chiang mai people here are into plastic scale modelling. would like to hear from you.

    plastic scale modelling anyone???

  13. there is quite a nice indian, just above mcdonalds.no advertising anywhere really,so maybe not many people know about it.only went once but quite good.my favourite eaterie is a nice french restaurant next door to stairway to heaven on loh kroh road, visited alot and will do again over songkran when i arrive back

    Foxy,

Stairway to heaven long gone. Dunno about The french restaurant though but id imagine the ambience there might be interesting. French food with llots of "Hello Welcome" all around.

  14. My first slap on the back to Chiangmai's finest!

It would be the 'lower' back would be where I would slap :o

Do you really think that fining folks 500 baht is going to change anything?

With zero followup, everything stays the way it is, and the cops get some more money.

    TiT :D

Can't agree with you more Ajarn.

  15. They always have these checks out at the Superhighway coming in from Bangkok

Not always.. I've never seen them there. And I'm on that section of road a lot... :o

I got caught there twice. My brother in law got caught there about 3 times now and our workers, say about 5 times all together just them. And its been only there below that particular overhead bridge. You must have different timings. MOstly between 9.30 & 10.00 in the morning.

  16. I got caught twice. Once with a Nissan truck that was 4 months old. THe emission was more than allowed!. (*still shocked*).

Not playing with chemicals(acetone) though but thanks for the advice.

What's the penalty? Pull off the road and walk home, or fine & drive?

They take your driving license, give you a book in thai language about emissions and pollution, they issue you a summont and you drive wherever you were heading to. Pay the fine at the police station and get your license back. i think the fine was 500Baht.

They always have these checks out at the Superhighway coming in from Bangkok> just below the flyover going to Airport across the CM - Lamphun HIGHWAY. Not CM-Lamphun road. Near the entrance of Wat Don Chan, Caltex. Isuzu showroom.

  17. Alas, once you have made a visa run down to Penang, the Indian establishments in Chiang Mai never seem quite the same. And those in the US become unworthy altogether.

Indian food in penang, is different. Its mostly South Indian. The ones in Chiang Mai is mostly Northern Indian. Big Big difference.

And to tell you the truth. Nothing like rice on banana leaf, with fish curry soaking in it, a fried mackerel fillet, mutton masala, some pappadum and little vege to go with it. Gulp that down with some coke and it makes your day seems worth living just for food ! ..

Dosai anyone?? ###### it, we need a south indian restaurant here in chiang mai. seriously.
