Thanks to those who’ve responded so far!

The reason I want no-drill installation is because I suspect that it’s the handyman who is entering my house!  He’d be the one who I’d normally ask to install it.  And although I have a drill and could do it myself, I don’t want to tip my hand.

My budget is low to medium-end.  I’ve already ordered a different door lock, but I want to catch this guy in the act!

If you suspect someone entering your house, you can buy a light bulb camera, or a hidden clock camera and such like from Lazada.

    Not expensive, and no drilling.

  2. You're living in a foreign country, and maybe don't entirely understand the culture or the language.

The foreign population is very transient by nature, and bars in every country in the world are full of drunks.

My advice would be for you to join a gym, or a golf club, or a running club, or a local round table.

Even though I'm not a member of any of those places myself, I imagine you would at least meet some people who are not just here for short time, and it will give you a better pool from which to find the type of friendship that you're looking for.

For now though, you will just have to suck it up...

Stay home and stay safe ????

  3. I'm also considering going solar on a planned new build.

Apart from a few solar street lights in my drive, I'm also pretty much a novice.

I've been mulling over a hybrid system, eather with, or without batteries, tied to the grid via a phase one hook up.

At the moment, I'm on phase 3, and my energy bills are very expensive, so won't be going down that road.

Anyway, while reading a story the other day in the bkk post, a pop up add appeared for a solar company in hua Hin.

They said they will serve anywhere in Thailand for the same price.

They seem very professional, so I saved it to my home screen, and will be giving them a call in the future.    They are called hua Hin solar solutions and their contact link gives you their Facebook page.

    There's also a tel number 0640528172.

After plenty of ups and downs with workmen in this country, I've decided that when choosing my solar system, I'm not going to do what I've done in the past, and that's compromise.

    Not with electric.

  4. I'm also not an expert, but I've had success with bread, fishing on the bottom with a weight, and on the top with a float, and cought a lot of catfish using moo tord.

And like a previous poster said, spinning can be good here, especially in rain season when there's lots of small fish in the water, the big fish are on the lookout for a snack.

Also, it may be the time of day that you're fishing.

Early in the morning or late in the afternoon are usually the best.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but just thought I'd throw it in

  5. You'd be cutting off your nose to spite your face, and the manager, or the bank won't lose any sleep over it.

    Just suck it up.

Yes, Thais can be quite insular, but they can also be very warm.

Sometimes it gets me down being a stranger in a foreign land, but at the end of the day, it's better than th UK, and you could always use a atm.... They can be very friendly to foreigners ????

  6. They sound like local earthworms.

They like to surface when it rains.

Last year, I noticed quite a lot of them heading up my wall from my border that contains plants. Don't know if they come from the original ground, or the black soil that I added, but I was happy to see them anyway.

  7. We had exactly the same issue as you over a week ago.

We've swapped our bigger pump over to a small one, and give it to an electrician who normally does jobs for us.

He is in the process of replacing the numerous rubber seals that these pumps have.

A quick look on lazada showed set of seals ranging from 200 to 600 thb.

Were expecting it back any day now, and it won't be a second too soon as the stand in pump is very noisy.

Apart from the seals, another recommendation would be to replace the bearings. Those two jobs should keep your pump working until it looks like an antique.

  8. I had a chinchuck short my treadmill motor once.

A Thai friend put me onto a local shop who rewound the coil.

From the outside, I wouldn't have knew what the shops purpose was, so maybe some research with the help of a local Thai might help?

What speed internet and what test speeds do you get.  Remember most of the nation is using internet day and night now so usage is way higher than normal.  Have no idea of your IPTV source but if outside Thailand, as it probably is, that will greatly reduce speeds.

And this is not just Thailand - USA is almost at a crawl most places and YouTube has reduced all video to lowest quality to even be viewable.

I recently changed from 3bb to true because every month, before my bill was due, I would get an annoying log in screen on my TV.

Now I'm with true, I noticed the picture quality isn't as good, and sometimes freezes.

One thing that might help, is when you connect to your WiFi, make sure you choose the 5mhz and not the 2.4.

Unfortunately, I don't have the option with my very old mag box, but I think you do with firestick

  10. Both the plants you ask about, purple, and yellow look like the same as a pink flowering plant that I have growing up a trellis, and over the top of my gate, about 3m high. It's a climber, and very evasive, but it's also very welcome, as it looks and smells great.   Sorry I don't know the name, but if you take a bit, give it something to climb up to get the best out of it.

  11. Have you heard of ola9tv?

Its not available on app store or play store you have to Google search for the download.

That should keep you from bouncing off the walls.

If you Google search, type ola9tv apk download.

Another good app is cinema hd.

Again, Google cinema HD  apk download.

If you have android, add android to any search, or ios if apple device. All free viewing.

    Stay safe

  12. I don't know much about downloading from sites, but why don't you stream your favourite shows instead?

If you have an android device, Google search cat mouse apk download android.

Find a link for a download and download the apk (app)

Install, then open, then happy viewing.

You may have to allow install from unknown sources in your settings.

Another good apk (app) to download is cinema HD, or nova TV.

On those 3 apps you can watch just about any show or movie , and the best for live tv IMHO are mobdro, TVtap, or my favourite, ola9 TV.
