  1. Child support should be up to the parents of the children to decide. I know you are trying to be a good friend but, probably best to stay out of this part. Let them decide what is best

Excuse me. And by the way, my friend is the one who asking me to please asked here... I'm not going to asked here about his situation if I don't have permission from him.

You come on a public forum to ask advice from total strangers about such a personal issue and then want to get testy with me because I suggest you should let the parents be responsible and work it out for themselves? You have some nerve!

And seriously if the father cant figure this topic out himself, he has much bigger issues in life to worry about.

Have either your friend or yourself ever heard of personal responsibility or being an adult?

I cant think of a single person who would ever advertise help when trying to decide on child support payments.

You've helped in an area for your friend now time to butt out of this business.

  2. There is a Thai embassy in Riyadh and a consulate in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Embassy website: http://www.thaiembassy.org/riyadh/en/home Consulate website: http://www.thaiembassy.org/jeddah/th/services

You should try to get a single entry non-o visa based upon marriage to a Thai before leaving.

If you don't get the visa and get a 30 day visa exempt (not a visa on arrival) you would have 15 days to convert to a 90 day non immigrant visa entry at Bangkok immigration. It would require two trips 15 days apart to get the visa/entry stamps. Your wife would have to be with you when you apply. You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank on the date you apply for the visa.

You could also go out to a nearby embassy or consulate to get the non-o visa.

The during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry from the visa you could apply for a one year extension of stay based upon marriage at your local immigration office.

Here is a general list of the required documents needed for the extension. You wife will need to be with you when you apply.

You will need 2 sets of copies attached to 2 TM7 application.forms.

Proof of 400k baht in the bank for 2 months by way of a letter from your bank and your bank book.or 40k baht income.proven by a income letter from your embassy.

Copies of your passport photo page and every page that has any stamp or visa for Thailand on it. Copy of TM6 departure card.

Marriage certificate and a updated Kor Ror 2 marriage registry (Kor Ror 22 for foreign marriages)

Copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card.

Photos of you and your wife in and around the house. One must show you both with the house number shown in it. The number of photos needed varies by office.

Map to your residence from the nearest main road or street.

Proof of residence if not living where your wife's house book is for.

Some offices may want witnesses when you apply.

UJ why would you not advise a retirement vs marriage? Not being argumentative just wonder why. The retirement extension is so much easier and less hassle.

  3. Yes there is a extension to stay based on retirement which, is actually easier to get than marriage. 65000 a month in income or combination of income and savings of same amount. Over 50 years of age of course. In a nutshell go to immigration and get a 90 day then about 2 weeks prior to the 90 day expiration go to immigration where you will be living and get a retirement permission to stay. Ubon Joe Im sure will correct me on my errors. Very simple process

  4. Do u travel alone or with a bunch of local? Do u have private transport waiting for u? Do u stay within makati? It's makati not makati city. Have u Try walking alone at night from ayala ave to burgos st. ? Have u try walking around chinatown or 168 etc. Try it. Try walking from. La cafe (old) name up and down the street. Try walking from la cafe to makati. It's a long walk. Yry b4 u defend the unknown

Where did I say Makati City, please tell me? rolleyes.gif

And yes I've walked all over Manila at night,Makati,Malate,Burgos Street we use to walk there from Makati Avenue where my buddy used to DJ at Time nightclub and Chihuahua (he's Latino so did Salsa nights there!)

To the Bronx Bar one of the few still open on Burgos Street at around 5-6:00am and guess what...we had a wonderful time,no problems,no attacks, nothing!

Because you are native Phillippino YOU will have no problems going around areas or taking foreign friends around but foreigners may have problems. Thailand has 65 million people---Phill has 100 million. Beaches are even nicer in Phill but Thailand gets almost 30 million tourists a year---the Phillippeans less than 5 million. Why ? People don't want to visit poor dirty looking country where they may be kidnapped and they see armed guards at McDonald's ,banks , malls and many other places. Do you see that in Thailand, Vietnam or Laos? And you know that the country sends their Dr's nurses, school teachers ect overseas to make money to send home because of the poor conditions in Phill.

No in Thailand they just attack and kill tourists. Quit being so ridiculous in your post.

  5. On an unrelated note Myself and the spousal unit went to a national park close to Khao Lak....guess I was handsome today as they let me in under the Thai price.

Now back to topic there is no rule or regulation that says a civilian cannot get access to a Thai military installation. I for 11 years working for the US military as a civilian contractor got regular access every year during COPE TIGER and COBRA GOLD exercises. If you have business there you get access. Military installations in Thailand or any other part of the world are not tourist areas and as such do not warrant civilian access anytime a Tom, Dick or Jane wants. 555

  6. WHY the <deleted> do you think you have the right as a foreign national civilian to set foot upon another country's military installation or piece of equipment is beyond my imagination???

And then to come here and try to bash Thailand is again soooooo typical of a group of posters here.

Civilians have whatever right a military deems appropriate, NOT what a civilian wants.

  7. If you are looking for income verification source, yes it is good. However, you wont need it at the embassy as they do not check when they produce your letter.

I don't understand... Why would they not? Also, the police check. Will my local city check be sufficient? One more, do I need to be in Thailand for 30 days to get the retirement visa or can I get it within 14 days if everything is in order?

Hey thanks! I really appreciate your help

If you are in Thailand no police ck required. Where you are when you apply makes all the difference to your requirements

  8. OP I went back and reread your posts and have to admit I failed to understand those "both" were opportunities and NOT different overstays. I apologize and stand corrected for both of my posts referring to you as having committed multiple overstays. You in fact, have only completed one 7-year overstay.

    Thank you sir!

    No harm.. no foul.

Honor is restored and you have my respect in making this apology.... much appreciated ;-)

One thing I hate about many TV people is that they wont admit if they are wrong. Im not like that and wanted to point out the fact that I was and wanted to apologize to you in public. I dont condone what you did but, I was incorrect in my quoting and saying you did something when in fact, you did not.

You now have a clean slate, dont muck it up again [emoji12]

  9. There is no option....you dont get a say so....you will be deported and banned. And for the record this was at least the OPs 3rd admitted overstay. Same excuses, different day and OP

For the record,... it was NOT my "at least 3rd" admitted overstay!

This was my one, only, and last overstay. Where you read your "facts" into my OP is beyond me. Preferential reading can only be assumed!

size=3]For the record, whilst I would confess to there being at least one or two prior occasions when I was able to clear the overstay and leave, those both came well after several years had elapsed and so I was just waiting for the most suitable opportune moment, which happened to coincide with the rumblings of the current 1 – 10 year ban legislation that has been applied.

    Right here buddy!

You are nothing more than just another person who thinks immigration rules dont apply to you....I count THREE overstays of your own admission.

Excuses, excuses....and using the "poor me" card by writing your family into the post. You KNOWINGLY and WILLING overstayed. No sympathy from me

So you can't read and you can't count,... that seems to be a common trait amongst expats in Thailand so I have noticed.

... and I was so much counting on your sympathy,... of all people,.. if you had shown some sympathy it would have meant so much to me... NOT!!!

Dude, YOUR OWN WORDS you say "whilst I would confess to there being at least one or two prior occasions when I was able to clear the overstay and leave, those both came well after several years had elapsed and so I was just waiting for the most suitable opportune moment, which happened to coincide with the rumblings of the current 1 – 10 year ban legislation that has been applied.

This is YOUR POST, NOT MINE. you admit to not one but "both" which means TWO.

  11. Overstay of 8 years in Thailand? You should know better than come here and ask for advise as to whether you need the help of a lawyer.

    No sympathy from me.

I didn't see the OP asking for your or anybody elses sympathy, do you?

He is simply asking for advice not lectures but of course the TV brigade just can't help themselves

No sympathy whatsoever. This country, as do all countries have immigration laws in place. They are there for a reason. If you cannot abide by those immigration laws, then you are commiting an offence. In this case, an 8 year overstay. And you wonder why the Thai Government are getting stricter?

And by coming into a public forum and admitting such, you are opening up TV to problems. On this thread alone fine upstanding farangs have admitted to 5,8, and 10 year overstays. SMDH
