  1. Yes, we have land which my wife has been wanting to sell for quite a while, but there are no buyers, in no small part due to how Covid has hit the economy.
  2. Yes I know, but when I left it had been 120 days without a report. in my next dealing with immigration - my Non-O extension - I thought they would fine me at that point, but they didn't even mention it.
  3. Fantastic that your employer allows this. As above, just don't tell anyone at all in Thailand that you are working, otherwise in theory you could have a problem.
  4. In February I renewed my Non-O retirement permission to stay, having arrived back in January. I had left the country last year being over a month overdue on the 90 day report. I expected that they would pick that up during the renewal and fine me, but no mention was made of it at all. I must have got lucky, or else they didn't care since I'd left the country in-between.
  5. I thought that the actual rate per unit goes up at a certain point to encourage energy saving - is that not the case ?
  6. I'm planning on returning to Thailand in June. It will be interesting to see how things change before then.
  7. residential address or what looks to be a business address ?
  8. I use UKpostbox.com, works very well for me.
  9. I'm sure I've seen cases on this forum of this being done. You're obviously at the mercy of individual IOs, and it may be possible with an agent. Both are under the Non-O umbrella, the OA is a sub-type or variation. I'm not a lawyer or proficient in the Thai regs, but as I say I'm sure I've seen cases where people have succeeded with this.
  10. Is that any time during your current extension of stay period, or only near the end of it ?
  11. Correct, you don't. That only applies if say you are in the UK and present a passport from a different country to have the Visa linked to.
  12. In late 2020, that is also what I supplied to the London embassy - copy of my UK passport page.
  13. With my TUNE policy I had, the broker said that for Covid claims the insurance company DO pay the hospital directly. But for any other claim, you have to pay first and get it reimbursed.
  14. I thought about a marriage extension, and was told that because we had already been married several years that it was unlikely they would do a home visit. But I did a retirement one anyway as it was way less hassle simply in terms of the documentation.
  15. Well, I visited last year, arrived Christmas day. Did my one night test and go, and theoretically was then free to travel without restriction. However the local authorities insisted on a 14-day self-isolation when I arrived in Chiang Rai province. They wanted to see my passport and vaccination certificates, and to have copies. So there you have it. The provinces, district and sub-districts have their own rules. Had I been a normal tourist, I could have travelled freely from hotel to hotel, no doubt. But returning to a residential address, different rules can apply.
  16. Well, don't you need a certificate of residence, a Thai drivers licence and a medical certificate to buy a new car now ? Or at least 2 of those.
  17. That would be Mae Chan I assume and not Mae Jan. It is a strange translation that one - Mae Chan is pronounced "Mae Jun" as people here familiar with that area will know.
  18. Yes 180 days, and last year I made sure that I was under that with 2 days to spare. Once permanently retired though it is inevitable you will become tax resident unless you split your time somehow.
  19. They didn't require it from me, no doubt due to the Siam Legal referral letter. The fee to them was well worth it.
  20. I don't see any evidence of more racism from that, but yes diversity is a wonderful thing.
  21. How many km does it take for that to happen ? Are you saying that is the cumulative effect of several long oil change intervals or just one instance of an extreme excessively long interval of 50,000km or something ?
  22. Same here. It is a really good option and in the overall picture the price for doing it isn't that big. I entered on a 90-day Non-O, and back then there was the 14-day hotel quarantine. So time was of the essence.
  23. I think from what I've read it is one of those things that is against the law but they turn a blind eye to it presumably because it promotes Thailand (mainly). They should be paying taxes as well ?
  24. Great news. When we got our TRD Sport 3 years ago there was no queue. They showed us the actual vehicle sitting out the back in the stock yard. Maybe it was a cancelled order so we are talking about the same thing ! They are brilliant vehicles, enjoy it !
