  1. I uploaded them literally as you'd expect - QRCode 1 for the first one, and QR Code 2 for the 2nd one. Got approved without any problems.
  2. I supplied a bank statement for one calendar month.
  3. The 800,000 requirement for in-country extension has been at that figure for a decade or more ? it would be no surprise to see it increased to 1M or more. In terms of applying for an O-A Visa outside the country, I'm not sure if consistency is needed or not compared to in-country extensions of stay.
  4. I think the early adopters bore the brunt of the pain until they got the system properly sorted. it was smooth and easy for me too, although took 2 days which sounds like is the norm with UK applications where they can't verify the QR codes automatically. They do need to change it to allow pdf files though, it is ridiculous that you have to convert them to png or jpg.
  5. Wrong, it does qualify and it did. I received my Thailand pass. As is clear from the document, it is a supplementary document that accompanies your normal insurance certificate that has the start and end dates on it.
  6. I agree, no way I would share the taxi or van to the hotel. Mind you, you've just shared a plane for up to 10 hours with a couple of hundred people, all of who had pre-flight covid tests as well, so some people would have no problem with it.
  7. Got my Thailand Pass approval today. It took two days (departing from UK late December) which is pretty good.
  8. I got a 90 day Non-O from the London embassy last year. Not a difficult process.
  9. Submitted my application last night. Fingers crossed. Crazy that pdfs are not accepted and you have to convert to jpg or png. It was certainly good to know that beforehand. Despite saying on the opening screen of instructions that your Visa should be provided if necessary, there was nowhere to upload it. Just your passport page. Not even a question on what basis you were entering. I was expecting to have to upload my Non-O extension and re-entry permit. Still, I guess they can just look that up on their immigration computer system.
  10. I just applied with my Cigna global policy. I asked from them and received a side-letter where they confirm Covid cover and the amount.
  11. No exemption. Best to sell everything and buy new again in Thailand. Just bring personal items that have special significance and aren't replaceable. My view on it.
  12. I found a UPS totally useless. When the voltage dropped (but there was no cut) the UPS would start beeping away madly, switch to battery, and then the PC would power down. All the while, the power was still up, and a different PC just plugged straight into the mains keep running quite happily. So, just voltage drops kept triggering it once a day or more, and now it just sits gathering dust unused. It was an APC so a good brand, but yes one of their lower priced models. Maybe a more expensive one would have been better.
  13. The rejection because of the lack of the middle name on the NHS Covid Pass should be resolved I'd say, it is just someone being overly bureaucratic at the Thai end
  14. Ouch ! That is the same with me. So I have this complication to look forward to when I apply.
  15. Theoretically the expiry date on the QR code doesn't matter. That applies for its use internally in the UK and is not relevant for overseas travel. I read that on the the gov.uk website. But the Thais may not necessarily understand that. In the NHS App, your COVID-19 status includes a 2D barcode. The expiry date does not apply to your vaccination status. Any expiry date refers only to the barcode and will update automatically each time you go into the NHS App. Your COVID-19 status includes a 2D barcode. The expiry date does not apply to your vaccination status. Any expiry date refers only to the barcode and will update automatically. If you download and print a copy, the expiry date will eventually show as expired and will not automatically refresh.
  16. I'm grateful I'm not travelling until late December, all the bugs will have been sorted by then ! I have everything booked, have insurance etc, just a waiting game now until first week of December to then apply for the Thailand pass, with a system that should then be working properly ????
  17. I've booked and paid for a Bangkok AQ 1 day test and go, and got confirmation. It took them 3 days to reply, they've been inundated with bookings. All the pent-up demand for people wanting to return or visit. Thailand is definitely re-opening !
  18. Last year I obtained on a 90-day Non-O and only realised after I submitted my COE application that my return flight was a long time after that. My intention was to get a 12 month extension and indeed I did. I was worried that they would reject my COE but they approved it. In your situation though, I think it will probably be a problem for you. On that standard tourist Visa there is a very good chance you'll be rejected.
  19. 48 hours later, no response from the hotel. Last year their responses were very quick, so I'm assuming that they are being flooded with booking requests !
  20. I've made my booking from the link above so will await confirmation from the hotel. It was an easy choice, it is the same ASQ hotel I used last time so I know it is good.
  21. I've got a flight booked to arrive in Bangkok 24th December. I'm wondering if I need to get in early and get a test-and-go hotel booked and paid for? I'm not sure what the demand might be, and also the supply of hotels who would offer it. I guess there are no downsides of booking well in advance.
  22. I wish mine would ! You never know but I think they would want some assurance that I would not be breaking the law, which would be hard to give. I'd also have to change from a retirement extension to a marriage extension for any possibility of a work permit.
  23. Ah yes, I've always been a fan of Subaru. The Forrester doesn't have a huge amount of power, and is CVT I think ? I'm not sure of the specification in Thailand. In any case, it would be enough for me.
  24. The law seems clear that digital nomad work is illegal, but as always it depends how it is interpreted and enforced. And as far as interpretation, key also is if you consider the purpose of legislation, which is to protect Thai jobs. That is why the authorities are generally relaxed about it, but that could change at any time. We'd only really know the true situation if a case came to court. Coming to Thailand for a vacation, and mixing in some remote working is surely not an issue at all. It happens everywhere.
  25. China has some of the most skilled engineers in the world. I've no doubt about the quality of the Haval, and lets face it making a decent car is not that hard these days. I'd have no hesitation in buying the Haval if it was well-priced, drove decently, had an extensive servicing network (which it doesn't ?) and had some reasonable reviews. But my wife is a brand-snob so I doubt she'd go anywhere near one. So we have a Fortuner - Toyota have an amazing reputation for reliability and quality in Thailand. I'm a huge fan of the Fortuner, I've driven tens of thousands of kilometres in them, but they are on the expensive side. We've done over 100,000km in ours now. It has needed nothing beyond standard servicing.
