Well, my guess is that there will be modified vaccines available in time for the next booster. We get annual flu jabs so maybe that is the way Covid is heading.

My wife agrees on that. She refuses the vaccine because a number of people she has spoken to have had long-lasting effects from the vaccines. And as the virus has mutated to be much milder, if you're fit and healthy maybe there is no longer a big risk for you. I know someone who died from a blood clot from the AZ vaccine. However I have had 2 x AZ followed by a Moderna booster and then a Pfizer booster. For me the benefits outweigh the risks.

If you're a high-mileage driver then I do think 10,000km is not necessary. For us that would mean an oil change every 2-3 months. We have stuck to that sometimes, but other times we've gone to 15,000km which I think is totally fine. For what it costs, if it was me I'd probably do the 10k, but trying to convince my wife to do that is extremely difficult. You know what most Thais are like with car maintenance... Not sure what mileage we are at now, I've been away and recently returned. We bought new and it is probably close to 160k now.

So if the OP wants it purely as an investment - buy it in UK (or elsewhere) and put it into professional storage. He's 2M baht better off right at the start.

On a Jetstar flight from Melbourne to BKK 9-10 hours at the beginning of July, masks were not compulsory and as a result a lot of people did not wear them, including the woman sitting next to me who had a couple of massive coughing bouts on that journey. I tested positive a few days after arrival and are still testing positive 10 days later even though symptoms have gone. Hard to say for sure but it seems likely that person had Covid and my standard surgical type mask did not save me, I should have had a better mask, but in my opinion if is a HUGE mistake for mandatory mask requirements to have been removed on planes. I feel so sorry for the cabin crew as well. For them it isn't just one flight.

It is possible but everything has to go right and it is very definitely risky. If your incoming flight is half an hour late say, which is very possible, then you may be screwed. I've had these tight connections before, and personally I won't do it again !

Yes indeed, and those manufacturers won't be sitting still either. In a couple of years time we will be looking to replace our Fortuner and I think there will be lots of options. Exciting times, as long as chip shortages etc don't curtail production too much.

That is why I've been using Qatar for example during the pandemic. One of the airlines that kept flying no matter what pretty much. And while air fares were stable and demand relatively low, I did get two free date changes and a refund of the return leg in one case when Qatar went onto the UK redlist and I was holding a return ticket. However Qatar prices now are incredibly high, for Aug/Sept anyway.

Yes I saw that, it just changed last month I think. Their prices seem pretty good at the moment.

I notice that for the new long term visas (mainly for those with lots of money), that 90 day reporting is not required, it is just annual reporting. Hopefully a trend..

Until oil prices drop again, we are stuck with higher prices. I do get the feeling that there is a bit of profiteering at the moment though, so maybe they will ease a bit.

Mask wearing was recommended but not compulsory. I was wearing my mask but the person next to me wasn't. She seemed well but during the flight when the lights were dimmed she had a couple of massive coughing bouts, and I thought, if that is Covid I'm screwed. And so it turned out. Sitting for 9-10 hrs next to someone who has Covid, your mask won't save you. (I can't be totally sure it was from her, but seems likely). Fortunately my symptoms were mild, I thought I just had a cold until I did a lateral flow test.

Under the Qatar flexible booking policy which they introduced during Covid. Previously I had to get the return flight to LON refunded because Qatar got added to the UK redlist. You just choose the option under "Manage my booking". The refund allowed me to buy a direct flight with Thai Airways with some change to spare.

2 x 23kg ? My allowance on my Qatar ticket is 1 x 25kg. It used to be 30kg but they have decreased it. Yet another loss in value. I've been happy with Qatar up to this point. Yes, far more reliable than the likes of B.A.

Well, they want about £450 to change my return flight from BKK to LON. About £700 for the new ticket less £255 credit for what I paid. I promptly cancelled it and will get the best deal when I'm ready. Currently EVA is about £450. Lesson learned with Qatar.

With Qatar during the pandemic I changed my ticket twice at zero cost. So I was shocked to be quoted a big price now. My thoughts were this: Price today of your original flight date = Y. Price today of the new flight date = X. Fare diff = X -Y. But how Qatar are doing it is that they credit the price you originally paid against the price of the new flight. I can't get through to the chat again at the moment, but when I do I'm going to challenge them on it. Frankly their guarantee is useless. The website tells me how much I get for a refund. I can then buy a direct one-way flight with Thai or EVA, and that is CHEAPER (and better) than what Qatar want. Highway robbers. I've been really happy with Qatar up to this point.

Grrr.... Qatar rip-off then. I'm about to contact them again my flight is 19th July and I want to move it into August.
