"British Embassy security procedures require that all visitors are searched before entering the premises. Mobile phones will be collected at the Embassy gate but the British Embassy and local guards are not liable for any loss or damage. In addition, you will NOT be allowed to enter the British Embassy for your appointment carrying any of the items below:

" * Any other battery-operated or electronic devices such as computer tablets, digital diaries, pagers, cameras, audio/video cassettes, compact discs, MP3s, floppy disks, laptops, or portable music players.

" * Any oversize shoulder bags.

" * Any oversize handbags, large back-packs, briefcases, or suitcases."

"Simplicity itself" is not how I would personally describe calling the British Embassy on the dog and bone. It is an extremely time-consuming process involving the need to navigate your way through a complex automated menu system which makes finding your way to the centre of the Hampton Court Maze a doddle in comparison!

Far easier, I think, to click on the following link:-

    https://www.gov.uk/world/organisations/british-embassy-bangkok/office/british-embassy-bangkok

where you will be presented with the following information of particular relevance to this thread:-

    Tells you no

Any oversize handbags, large back-packs, briefcases, or suitcases."

But it doesn't tell you if you can leave them somewhere before you enter.

Be nice to hear from them themselves wouldn't it.

  3. Hi I have an appointment with the embassy in the afternoon.

I will come straight from my hotel to the embassy then after return straight home,

Am I allowed to bring my small bag of luggage (small rucksack) and my mobile phone with me, and is there anywhere to leave it at the embassy for 30 minutes during my appointment

    I did this last month.

If you have received the Affirmation form from British Consul by email and printed it (assuming you applied online), and booked the online appointment, you only need to visit the Embassy one time.

Here they will double check the details and you will sign and swear. That is it, does not take long.

By the way, I would recommend to take the additional (paid) option to have certified copy of Passport, unless you are certain the Amphur does not need it. This can be done in same appointment.

Also suggest you book the Amphur registration in advance if you haven't. We found weeks of waiting, until we decided to use an agent, then we got it done same day we received the Legalised translations back from the Ministry of Foreign affairs.

Obviously ignore the last 2 paragraphs if you have it all sorted, just trying to save you some stress..

Just one other thing do you think it would be possible to apply in person and pay in cash when you apply in person then return after they give you an appointment.

Reason is I don't like paying using debit/credit cards over the internet

You need 2 months deposit ,it's a little incentive for the tenant

to take a bit better care of the house and furnishing, and also

in case they leave without paying electric, water etc.

Even 2 months deposit does not cover potential damages that

    tenants can cause.

    regards worgeordie

Is 2 months deposit still legal
