The 2000 baht fine is not the maximum but that is standard fine done for being late or not doing them. I am aware of people not doing one for a year and only being fined 2000 baht.
The max fine is 5000 baht as written in the immigration act.
Thanks Joe. My official address is in Phuket where I should be reporting but I have been staying in BKk for the past few months, to stay on the right side of the immigration can I do my 90 day report in Bkk ? Or is this not advisable ? -
I have also missed my 90 day reporting and I am now 84 days over, is the 2,000 baht the maximum you can be fined, or does this increase the longer you leave it ?

None. I just fail to believe how a mandatory Covid test for foreigners in Phuket can be 500 baht, but a voluntary vaccine will be free.Only time will tell.

What the Thai government is actually saying:“Expats are free to get the jab in Thailand, you do not need to go back to your home country to get it. Please feel free to call into your local hospital who will inform you the cost.”

This is a repeat of what we seen during the new year holiday weekend in January, this weekend is also a long weekend (Monday & Tuesday is a holiday).
Thai government are closing restaurants to deter people from gathering, also to deter people from making trips to Hua Hin, Pattaya etc.
My guess is restaurants will be back open again on Wednesday when people return back to work.

Expats in Thailand to receive COVID-19 vaccinations free of charge
Yes, and we have never yet seen the Thai government go back on anything have we ?Although I hope I am wrong I do not believe this will be free for all expats. Maybe work permit holders yes, possibly Non O visa holders (married or Thai family) but not for everyone.
The Thai government will already be considering who will qualify as an “expat”, and who will not.

If foreigners in Phuket are being forced to pay for a Covid test, you can pretty much guarantee they will be charged for the vaccine.- 7

Clearly not enough farangs crossing the bridge at night, no opportunity for the racists to fleece 500 baht out of them.

I’m not sure what frightens me the most, the Thai governments prejudice towards foreigners, or people who believe the prime minister was fined for not wearing a mask.- 3

The vaccination drive is all a show. They’ll vaccinate all of the locals, declare victory, invite people to come back, and then quietly begin importing unvaccinated people to the island to staff the businesses.
You are indeed 100% correct, the vaccination drive is all a show however, they will not be importing staff on the quiet, there is already a work force of Thais in Phuket who are ready & waiting to start work.
The arrival numbers in July (if it even goes ahead) simply won’t be high enough to need more workers.

Currently anyone entering Phuket is required to do a Covid test on arrival, both land crossing and air, what we are seeing now is simply a rehearsal of what they plan to do in July.Upto now this has been a successful rehearsal and will surely be used in July to snare any arriving job seekers.

Every idiotic plan that has been floated has flipp flopped or died.
And this one is different?
Who in their right mind is going to add yet another non refundable air fare to their credit card?
Aside from the low cost carriers just about every airline now is offering refunds on new bookings, or flexible tickets allowing changes with no fees, some are offering both.
Just don’t book Thai Airways and you will be fine.

Yes you are the only one who has a time machine who has just done a trip to Phuket in the future.
I’m very keen to know, what was the weather like ? I heard it rains a lot in July ?

Reports are there is no testing being done at the land border. Can anyone clarify, or does anyone know someone who has entered Phuket by air in the last 24 hours who has been asked to do a test ?
I really believe this “news” should be clarified first before the Thai bashers take the bait.

Guys, before you all turn this into a 20 page Thai bashing thread, there have been reports on another thread that may indicate this to be fake news, not the pricing but the actual test itself, some have reported that they entered Phuket yesterday and were NOT asked to do a test.
The Phuket authorities have in the past been guilty of threatening restrictions on entering the island, each time turning out to be false, this could be their latest attempt at what is simply deterring visitors.
We are only 2 days into this, let’s see if people have in fact been asked to do a test, maybe some people can report on here if they have, or know people who have.

Not according to these stats. Some provinces are down on cases, CM quite significantly.
Panic over everybody, doomsayers can go back to their sad lives of misery and doom.

Having known several women who have done that, I know that most of them take out a loan of 10k baht from the village moneylender to make the move and establish themselves in the new location. As you say not something they would do without a guarantee of work and a quick return on their investment.
Sure, back in the glory days they would not think twice about borrowing 10K from the local loan shark. It was pretty easy back then as it was guaranteed work on arrival, most of them also had a friend or family member in Phuket who had a room they could share, now it’s a completely different story. What you also need to understand is a very large portion of Phuket workers In the past came from neighbouring provinces, such as Phang-nga Krabi etc, if in the unlikely event there is a shortage of workers it will be people from these places filling the void.

You don't get it and obviously you don't know how it works in Thailand
They will not come here only if they are sure there is enough work for them
they will all come to try their luck, because they are desperate at the moment !
It's exactly the same thinking with the lotery tickets, people don't buy it only if
they are sure to win, they buy it because they think maybe they will be lucky enough to win
So they will all come, most of them unvaccinated, and then when they see
after few days\weeks there is no enough money to be made
they will be back to their villages, maybe carrying the virus
Living & working in the travel industry in Thailand for 18 years says I should know a little bit. And I can tell you with 100% certainty you are completely wrong.
Moving 1,000+ kms to Phuket with the hope of finding work is not like buying a lottery ticket. To buy a lottery ticket any Thai can walk 5 mins down the road and buy one for a few baht, your average desperate Thai will not risk gambling the cost of travelling to Phuket, then gamble the cost of renting a room and paying a deposit to a landlord on the hope they will find work.
It won’t happen, and if you think your average poor/desperate Thai will take this gamble, it is you who knows nothing about Thailand.
Again there is enough Thai workers in Phuket to cater for what will be a very minimal amount of tourists, and the desperate workers in Essan will be fully aware of this.

Now what is your plan to handdle the hundred of thousands of the unregistered workers (Including the illegal burmese) flooding to the island (By the road or by the sea) from the other parts of Thailand as soon as the foreign tourists are back?
They don’t need a plan, because there will not be hundred of thousands of workers flooding into Phuket.
The Thai authorities have already estimated there will only be around 150,000 tourists visiting Phuket from July to Sept, that’s only 50,000 per month.
Very small and insignificant numbers, the current work force who have remained in Phuket will easily be able to manage this.

I don't understand the negativity of the Thai expat. I have lived in many countries and only in Thailand I see such negativity.
I don't get it, I have met some of them and they seem to otherwise be nice people.
They are thinking of giving you free or discounted tickets, You should love it and say Thank you, Yet almost everyone responding , had something negative to say.
The question was often asked. Why do they make all these proposals?
That's their job. They are politicians. They make proposals. Some are adapted, most are rejected. The only difference here is that many of these proposals are publicized. What's wrong with that? don't you want to know what is going on in government?
PS: I feel bad for the moderators who have to read all this negativity. Listening to people complain all day must weight on their psyche.
All these negative comments you are seeing are not from expats, they are all from frustrated tourists who are not able to visit Thailand.

I am getting confused by all these proposals and suggestions.
Only for tourists going to Phuket? If yes,why only those going to Phuket?
Not everyone likes this place.????
Because Phuket will be the only place tourists can visit between the months of July and September.
Anyone who doesn’t like Phuket can simply wait till October when the rest of Thailand opens up.

No need to panic everyone, Bangkok has seriously ramped up testing over the last few days, just about every Thai I know here has either had a test, or has a family member who has.
I’m actually hearing the percentage of positive tests per X amount of people tested has come down. Sorry I can’t back this up with a link unfortunately, although I did try to find one.
