Who would be will to go on such a journey?

Many will, some are very desperate to get back, there will be many foreigners currently outside of Thailand who are married to Thais, they will jump all over this, this can be their way back in.

This also may be good news for Tourists currently in Thailand on the amnesty who don’t want to go home, leave on or before the 26th Sept and return on the 1st October.

Of course all depends on flight availability, it won’t happen if the airlines can’t sell enough seats.

I can see an increase of guys using visa agents for help or guys trying to do whatever they can to come up with the 400k or the 40k abroad transfer requirement to stay here.

Really ? Immigration will grant one year extension of stay based on 40K abroad transfer ? I was not aware of this, can anyone add further clarification of this ?

I've committed to the money in the bank method but due to my procrastinating nature I miss out by about ten days for the seasoning which is why I'm trying for the special dispensation.

Me too, dropped below the 400K so I’m all over this “special dispensation”.

I would like to know what they will likely consider under this special dispensation ? Will they relax on the 400K requirement and grant the one year extension, or will they grant a rolling 60 day extension ?

those people on non imm.'o' visa. normally would do a border bounce, i.e. cross the border then return within the hour or some other short period, who hold a currently valid visa but have had amnesty from border hops, seem never to be mentioned on here, surely i'm not the only one in this position,

Just my 10 bahts worth of opinion. The immigration see us non O holders being in the same bracket as the tourist on 30 day visa exempt stamps, this may be why we are never mentioned, if the amnesty is not extended we also have to leave.

The only difference is the Non O holders will have a higher chance of being able to extend, as a lot will have family here, wives, kids etc.

Again just my opinion, but any visa exempt stayers who had at least one extension prior to the amnesty period will find it difficult. The immigration officials will be looking to weed these people out.

What nationalities are still stranded here?

As flights are taking off again anybody can, one way or the other, fly OUT of Thailand.

In Phuket (particular Patong) there are thousands of young French/Arab guys still around who will stay for as long as they can, a lot of them are unemployed back home and are here on a free holiday, no visa runs and no need to pay for extensions.

The benefits they get from the French government is enough for them to stay here, there is 4 star hotel in Patong accommodating these guys, charging 14,000 baht per month for an apartment that was selling for 2-3,000 baht per night in Feb/March, 2 in a room that’s only 7,000 baht each per month, this will leave them with more than enough money for booze and shish-a.

The bottom end hookers that were not part of the mass exodus out of Phuket, the ones with no families or a even a home to go to are servicing these guys, probably exchanging sex in return of Sangsom and a few puffs or Shish-a.

These guys will be praying for the amnesty to be extended.

I am Belgian, and the majority of us consider only Belgian beers the name of beer worthy.

The other beers are considered as "alcoholic drink", and many alcoholic drinks are drank with ice or/and a straw.

So I drink Belgian beers without ice, and the others with.

I don't consider myself as a biker or pooftas, but as a connoisseur.

I’m not Belgian and I 100% agree with you !

Which is why I’m surprised the PEBA president is making so much noise about it, surely he of all people must know these rules will simply be ignored, without any kind of follow up enforcement by the authorities ?

Once the bars open with the exception of the bar staff possibly wearing masks, they will be operating exactly as they were before.

I am in Bangkok right now having a fantastic time. Like over the top amazing.

I think I’m the 2nd person to ask this, please elaborate “amazing” ?

In the past 3 weeks I’ve been to Pattaya, Bangkok, Hua Hin and Phuket (yes completely ignoring advice against interprovincial travel) and Bangkok was the worse one out of all places, absolutely terrible, zero action, depressing.

So what has changed ? I’m genuinely interested as Bkk was my favourite place in Thailand, but unfortunately it’s been demoted to last, at least until the nightlife reopens again.
