  1. Well, Thailand better start getting more serious about learning and actually using English. Vietnam has them beat very bad on that level. And I'm sure in other areas of education as well.

Surprising that the GDP of Vietnam is only 1/3rd of Thailand's. I'm sure the Thais are shaking in their Crocs.biggrin.png

    They should be shaking

The farming and fishing sectors are both

    Facing very difficult times.

  2. Yes, monks are supposed to go bare-foot, but, 99% of them wear flip-flops.

Monks are NOT supposed to do a lot of things, yet, they still do them.

Just understand that many of the monks that you see in Thailand are ex-criminals, just out of gaol and doing a three month penance before going back to their old ways.

99% of monks wear flip flops? thats not true, ive read a lot about it

many of the monks are ex-criminals? someone can back up that? no offense man but after the 99% uses flip flops thing you lose authority in what u say, most monks in photos asking for food in the morning are barefoot

p.d. opporna remember einstein was 26 when he proposed relativity

OP you are truly in for a shock.

Don't know what you have been reading

But sounds like you are getting your info from guide books.

  3. Some on here would like visas, PR and, why not, citizenship given for free wink.png

My opinion is that "for that kind of money" we can already be very happy with the Thailand Elite offer.

A PE visa, one year stamps, and all the other perks, for only "that kind of money" is a bargain.

I understand that not everybody is of the same opinion though... smile.png

Its idiotic that you have to show your face every 90 days, in my opinion with whatever Visa.

As far as I know, if you apply for a Cambodian one year Visa you come back in a year, not every 90 days.

    Better.

And even Western countries need for pay outs from pension or orphans' pensions, only a one time a year

-proof of live- so its possible, to make life more easy.

But you want to chew all without questioning it, ok, so be it. tongue.png

You do not have to show your face every 90 days.

You can report by post or online

  4. Just a sort of "generic" rant.

Why on earth do some Posters apparently think it makes them sound "cool" to omit letters in naming Cities or Countries?

How much more time does it take to type "Pattaya", instead of "Patts" or "Patters" for example - so common on TV???

Now we have another clown who thinks he will look like a seasoned "World Traveler" by referring to Singapore as "Singa".

    Rant over.

    Patrick

    Patrick, you forgot about Bangers

  5. I'm a UK citizen. I've been living in Thailand since 1984. I now have a Tourist Visa for the first time as I couldn't renew my annual visa before I left the country and it expired before I could return. I'm glad to know that I can stay up to 60 days without leaving the country while I sort things out. (So many documents to obtain for the "B" visa!) Thank you for answering the gentleman's question.

You can get a 30 day extension for 1900 Baht if needed, that will give you up to 90 days without leaving

  6. [..]

You will have to buy a new sim and have to change your number

May I point you to some mis-information? You will be able to receive calls, but not to call out until you register. No reason to spread panic.

Why have a phone that you can not call out on

The point is swampdonkey that you will not have to buy a new sim or get a new number.

I'm annoyed at this new rule that says i need to register again, I registered years ago the last time it became the rule but apparently that does not count.. so now I will dig in my heels and not register until I need to do so. If everybody did the same it would cause chaos and the government/junta/dictatorship may think twice about introducing such measures in the future.

Freedoms are taken away in small steps so that the public don't notice.

Are you sure you are still not registered?

I know people who registered with Ais

years ago and they are still registered.

You can send a text message to find out .
