  1. Do you realise how offensive your "If true" is ?
  2. I transferred to WISE on Thursday and they acknowledged receipt today, Friday, at 2pm. Instead of immediately transferring to the recipient...as previously...they, disgracefully, chose to sit on the money over the weekend.
  3. Congratulations on having a 4 day weekend. I Initiated the transfer on Thursday to receive the next day, Friday...as with more than 100 transfers previously.
  4. I have been a satisfied customer of WISE for over a decade. Today 14.00 hrs. they acknowledged receipt of my latest transfer payment and say they will pay the recipient on Monday at 14.00 hrs. Previously payment was forwarded immediately. Now they will withhold my money over the weekend. A disgraceful decline in service from WISE.
  5. Thanks, terryq. Will do. Honesty really is the best policy.
  6. My local immigration office mistakenly gave me permission to stay until 26 Feb 2026, instead of 26 Feb 2025. Lucky me ? Normally I would shortly stock up my bank account and in mid Feb 2025 make the yearly extension, based on marriage to my Thai wife. Should I now proceed normally or try to take advantage of their mistake ?. I guess their mistake will come to light at the 90 day report at the the end of Feb 2025. Thank you.
  7. If you are a German national your wife will have to pass a German language test for the visa. This test is not necessary if, like me, you are not a German national. At least this was the case 16 years ago.
  8. 16 years ago whilst living in Germany I married my Thai girlfriend in Bangkok..Germany wanted a crazy amount of paperwork from my girlfriend/wife. Of course you should enquire at the German Embassy, although my experience was the opposite of NativeBob's; they were unhelpful and arrogant, perhaps because of my Isaan GF. PLEASE PM ME for details of a bureau in the YWCA building near the embassy who knew all the ins and outs and translated the papers. If they are still in business, your marriage will be a walk in the park. BTW, my wife could not live in Germany; she missed her family and the Thai lifestyle. But we are still happily together in her Isaan village. Important: marry in the Ban Rak registry office in Bangkok because the embassy can quickly verify their marriage certificate and process the visa for your wife. Good luck.
  9. I'm prepared to do a lot...even accept the expense and boredom of 2 days in Savannakhet... to avoid visiting my local immigration office if not absolutely necessary e.g. the extension.
  10. Many thanks, DrJack54 and Liqourice. My plan is get the non O in Savannakhet shortly before my present permission to stay expires (far less paperwork than locally and no 400K needed). After 2 weeks I top up my account to 400K with my newly-available funds. After 2 months seasoning I apply for the 12 month extension. Feasible ? or have I overlooked something ?
  11. My 400k comes from a fixed term deposit account which matures 2 weeks after my permission to stay expires. A real cock-up on my part !
  12. Alternatively, during your border bounce in Savannakhet get the non O single entry without needing to show 400K (which you will need only for the extension). Correct ?
  13. An inspired idea. In this field Thailand already has a centre of excellence...Yasothon...which can rocket Thailand to the forefront of space exploration.
  14. This reminds me of the time I bought some travellers cheques from a random bank in London, about 50 years ago. Returning home, I realised that I had the cheques and the cash I had taken to pay for them i.e. I had been been given the cheques without paying for them. I returned to pay the bank. Instead of thanking me for my honesty, the bank staff were offensive, saying I should be grateful that they would not have me arrested for theft.
  15. If you had "looked into it" you would have found out that Thai Airways haven't flown to Vienna for a number of years. This route is now served only by Austrian Airlines and EVA Air.
  16. Free Speech seems to be another victim of this war. I have been banned from posting by DW News, the "German BBC"; presumably for not prefacing every post with "I pray for Israel". A recent video had an audience of 1.8M and only 167 comments escaped the censor. My posts on DW News have been factual without slurs like "scum". "savages" or "human animals" that I read on this forum. I regret that I cannot contribute further to this forum. I am an unhealthy 75, have poor eyesight (keyboard) and simply do not have the strength.
  17. Reduce petrol prices by 2.5 baht........interesting Reduce petrol prices TO 2.5 baht........even more interesting.
  18. I knew a rich guy who spent his summer holidays at the Hotel du Palais in Biarritz, France. He always had a suite at the top of one of the twin towers. One year the hotel deeply regretted that they could not give him the suite because both were already booked; by the Duchess of Windsor (Wallace Simpson) and Frank Sinatra. Luckily, Frank Sinatra cancelled. He never visited Thailand, probably because he enjoyed a glass of fine wine and could not afford the outrageous Thai prices for a tipple..
  19. Very disappointing. As an expert guesser, please guess for me the next winning lottery number.
  20. What are you talking about ?. Who is "he" ?
  21. So, no answer to my question. I am after an understanding that Israel has treated Palestinians atrociously for 75 years; so that Hamas is very much a monster which Israeli terrorism has created. What points have I not replied to?
  22. Booze or hash ?
  23. Here and now you are avoiding giving me an answer.
  24. "the deliberate murder of civilians" like the hotel bombing, the murder of the UN monitor and the Deir Yassin massacre which Begin hailed as a "splendid act of conquest" ?
