  1. I think it would help it they made Lazada and Shopee make it clearer that the products are coming from China. Only yesterday, I bought something for 47 baht on Lazada through a Chinese seller. I did not realise it was an international seller until it was too late. Now I have to wait longer for it and these new changes will mean a lot of work will be required to collect an extra 3.29 baht.

Bike going too fast.. It's  scary  being a passenger with any Thai driver, when I'm a passenger in my  (Thai) wife's Car  I see the Car in front  Brake lights come on, for the next 3 or 4 Seconds  my Mrs still has her foot on the Gas pedal until I shout BRAKE, yes she's watching the road &  her sight is normal  under other  conditions,     it  just seems   their Brain does'nt register quick enough as seen in this accident...

It's interesting you say that. I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few accidents here are caused by back seat drivers shouting at the drivers, causing them to slam on the brakes then get rear ended, due to a non existent hazard.

In regard to this thread's video, the rule of law and rule of the road appear quiet different. He did what I see every single day here and nobody bats an eyelid.

    i like gifts

    i'm ok about sharing food

my family is extremely important to me

this one difficult as i'm happy snogging in public

i have been known to have a bit on the side.

am i so different from other foreigners here?

    1. Are gifts important to your love for someone? Are they integral to your relationships?

2.Sharing food, fair enough. I don't have any problems either, but I wasn't /am not arguing that we are different on all counts

    3. Do you do what your mum and dad want you to do rather than doing what you want to do as an adult? If your parents did not like your gf would you dump her?

    4. The more I live here, the more difficult I find pda. I get a lot of stares anyway living in an area without many westerners.

    5. Did your gf/wife accept to you having a bit on the side. Would you be okay with your lady having sex with another man?

Ultimately, the answers to the above make little difference, but for me there are some points I can accept and others not. If she expect gifts in return for love, this is a transaction, not a relationship to me. If she did what her parents wanted her to do rather than what we as a couple wanted to do, once again, end of relationship. If she want to bend over for other men on the side, once again it's not gonna work with me, but we all have our own boundaries.

Phuket immigration puts a 90 day notice in the passport with the extension stamp.  And Normally, in the past, the 90 days is 90 days from the extension, at least in Phuket. Immigration has done this  Every year for 9 years.

I Always check my passport before leaving immigration to make sure everything is ok before I leave.  This year there was no 90 day slip in my passport, and when I asked, I got this little hand written note on a post it.   (see photo on above post).

I understand your situation a lot better now. Based on what she gave you, I'd be pretty confident that you'll get the email reminder in the first or second week of May. If you don't, then as you say a trip there seems in order. I'd take it easy for now though. Sabai sabai

People tip because societal pressure, aka herd behavior.

If nobody knew if we tipped or not, nobody would tip. If you deny this you’re delusional. People tip to make themselves feel better. They do t care about anyone else. They want to fit in. Our entire society is based on herd behavior. Covid taught us this without a doubt.

In general I agree with what you have said in this thread, but I think some people do care, hence the go fund me donations. You get sweet FA in return for your donation, but you do it to help others. My wife regularly gives small amounts to people with injured animals too. There's zero recognition for doing so and it doesn't help our lives. I know the thread is about tipping, but tips and donations in my mind are very similar.

Singers 100-200 baht, one of the biggest myths about Thais is that they do not tip, they tip millions to singers. Biggest one I saw on stage was 100k from one person.

Good point. I also tip singers around 100 baht. Even when doing karaoke in larger groups some Thais like to tip. I got just under ฿1,000 in tips last time I did karaoke, but normally I'll get about 200.

  7. I use it at least every other day. It can be a short beep if I want them to pay attention to something, traffic lights for example, and a longer beep if someone caused me to slam on my brakes or avoid an accident. Other times, like in Paya Thai last week, I started with a short beep and progressed to a long beep as a driver decided to park next to the sky train line to let a guy out of the car. What should have been a 10 second drop turned into about a minute. Oh and when driving in hilly regions I beep my horn to let cars know there is someone coming in the opposite direction round blind corners. That's what they do, so I now do so too.

  8. There is an app in playstore called 'Traffic D เดือนด่าน' which could help, not with a lawyer, but Thais report check point locations to warn others. It will highlight them in Google maps for you if you can't read the location in Thai.

As others have said though, it makes little sense to drink drive in Pattaya when there's taxis available. Rather than drink drive, I prefer to stay at a cheap hotel near where I'm drinking and drive back in the morning instead.

The test showed .79 milligrams percent of alcohol which was over the legal alcohol limit of .50. Could anybody translate this in a comprehensble way. For me it would be expressed in a number of 33 cl beers during  a specific laps of time.

It's impossible to say the time due to other factors such as weight and food intake. Generally though it considers the number of beers within an hour and then you subtract 0.1 for every 40 minutes of drinking. He looks quite short and not very well built so I'd guess 160lbs. He could have had 5 small beers (33cl) in 2.5 hrs and get that reading.

Regarding zero being the safe limit as others have suggested, I had one large bottle of beer this evening with my meal and drove home 3 hrs after starting the beer. I see nothing wrong with that as I was well under the strict legal limit here. Yes I wanted another beer, but it's not worth the risk. The law is the law. I personally feel zero is unreasonable. Every banana or slice of proper bread you eat contains a very small amount of alcohol. Alcohol free beer even contains alcohol.

He said he only kicked her because he thought she was Chinese, and would not have kicked her if he’d thought she was Thai …. if you don’t understand the racism in that, nobody will ever be able to explain it to you.

And why are you defending this odious, entitled bully ?

I generally have no problems with the other things you have said about him as they don't carry the same weight as labeling someone racist.  I 100% agree that he is an odious, entitled bully though.

Maybe you haven’t acquainted yourself with all aspects of this case; he initially said that he didn’t know it was a Thai national that he kicked. He said he thought it was a Chinese woman … how’s that for racism ?

And BTW, have you got anything on topic to say about this issue, or do you just troll threads to see if you can find any comments to criticise. With the thread 7 pages old, your comment to me appears to be your first one.

I don't see how assuming a Thai was Chinese in the dark is racist.

Regarding calling me a troll for commenting on your abusive language toward him, I think the matter speaks for itself. I'm not going to stoop to your level.
