I had eye lens replacement (multi focus) and at a different eye clinic they peeled of the retina and filtered eye liquid.
Further I had triple coronary bypass some complications but I am still alive. I am confident if you thoroughly select a specialist your chances are as good as home. Big difference even a coronary bypass can be performed within one week after diagnose. Where else in the world is this possible? Also service is 10 times better in Bangkok.

Everyone I know who married in Thailand displayed sinsot. And everyone I know who married in Thailand had it returned after the ceremony. This has been going on for 20 years. It is a ritual, that's all. If you are "paying" sinsot, refuse.
You probably mean, everyone you know who married were foreigners? I know for a fact that locals do pay sin-sot and don’t get it returned.

This is another really dumb question here on Thai Visa. The durian tree has to grow over a period of at least 7 years. That means watering and fertilizing for SEVEN years with no return. Then when it finally does start to bear fruit, a huge 30 foot tall tree might have 6-10 fruit on it. Not like a mango tree that has upwards of 50 fruit.
Correct, but I bought trees of 2 y old.
For the watering I have 3 wells and huge concrete tanks for buffer ( 2x 500m3). Pumps are 120m deep. It is a big investment but growing rice or Tapioca is not rewarding. I know the risk and worse case no trees but still the land and the wells. Fingers crossed

With so much in one fruit, don’t you fear durian rustlers during the fruit season?
we Know people with a few trees hidden in their gardens, but nothing on a commercial scale
Indeed a worry but it is fenced and there are 2 guard houses on the property. So yes it is a worry and we will need to address this seriously.

I started one year ago with 400 trees, soil can never be too wet nor too dry. The roots spread out but don’t go deep. Durian trees require daily watering and regular fertiliser.
I hope to be able to harvest first Durian in 5-6 years

From an outsider’s perspective, sometimes a whistleblower is declared enemy of the state but in this case he is a hero?

last i checked, Thailand was not a western country.
the limits and the penalties are clearly stated.
I wonder if a western country would have waived the fine and let him walk with his allowance had he been in the same situation.
what i am interested to know is if he walked through customs with the 2 bottles clearly displayed in their duty free bags of if they had been packed away in carry on. I suspect the former.
In which case he was just begging to be stopped.
If you read my story you would understand the 2 bottles were in one carton 75cl each so I was a whopping 0.5l over the limit!

It happened to me in another country long time ago, I paid tax plus reasonable fine and could keep the bottles.

Not a smuggle attempt, it was in a transparent duty-free bag hand carried. For me the rules are confusing. I thought it was 1L for alcohol such as whisky or vodka and 2 bottles if alc. content lower than 15%.
Most countries allow 2 bottles of wine. This was my honest mistake, so I wanted to inform others.

Just landed in Suvarnabhumi airport, went swiftly through immigration and customs. I bought 2 bottles of Champagne in Dubai (75cl each both packed together in the same carton)
When I already passed customs and was in the arrival hall, I was stopped by a customs officer and had to follow him to the office.
They told me I was allowed only 1 bottle. So both bottles were confiscated plus fine approx 10.000 THB or 10 times the import tax.
I could talk my way out but I just wanted to warn TV members to be careful when you bring in alcoholic beverages. Even if you would go to the red line you are not allowed to take more than one bottle but you can avoid the fine by keeping 1 bottle but the rest will be confiscated.

I was agreeing with your post, but this sentence leaves me perplexed.
I think the simple fact that people are caring is quite a positive thing, sometimes uneducated doesn't mean stupid, as educated is not necessarily honest.
Imagine Greta assisting during a brain surgery.. complex matters need to be assessed by educated people. You probably misunderstood and assumed I have no respect for uneducated people which is an incorrect conclusion. I just believe that you need specialists for specific problems.

I think most agree that we should continue the path of less pollution by improving alternative energy and yes, most if not all agree we should not throw plastic bags in the sea. And i do believe humans are partly the cause of global climate change. The question here is; do we need Greta for this?
The reference to Hitler was not to support his evil disgusting actions but the comparison how some individuals can influence the masses is valid. Lenin would have been a safer reference but with the same symptoms that people blindly believe and follow. So people like Greta could speed up our down fall rather than being a cure. The world is not a simplistic model about stolen youth and dreams but a very balanced act between politics, religion and countries. I don’t like to see uneducated people have a say in this.

And how is that?
We already are seeing migration, away from countries and regions, that don't offer enough opportunities to the people living there!
What do you think will happen, when the last well dries up, due to even longer and more devastating droughts?
The people from those regions will not just sit there and wait for death!
The right is already screaming bloody murder about the "waves of immigrants", coming into Europe or the US!
What do you think the future holds in that regard?
Reverse osmosis?

I would think twice about trying so hard to put him in jail. What do people learn in jail? They learn how to become better criminals and get more criminal friends usually. If this man is going to be in your family ...I would try a more long term approach and you would have some resentment to deal with after. Plus, I don’t believe anyone will do it for this petty thing ...the family, the police, etc.
They might take your money, and then his Mom will just pay them more. Which will probably come from you somehow.
Your intentions are good, but I believe that this type of A.. has to be removed from the family in one way or the other. He will not change for the better. The last hope evaporates because of his drinking and drug habits.

Thanks, finally someone with some good input and based on your # of post, you have some experience and rationality, you are 100% on the family thing and they have a nice home there, the Grandfather is actually really great and helpful and agrees he should have beaten the brothers ass when he was very young and starting to become a troublemaker! Also I think the Grandfather finally gets it and the girlfriend is slowly coming around that the brother is not just crazy ting tong haha but criminally insane and has no sense of reality and nothing to lose by hurting anyone, no job, no money and a drug and alcohol addiction and they need to wake the heck up, also the mother is the brothers only source of income and that is very limited and she will get most of the daily abuse! Tomorrow we will try the issue with the motorbike since the value is way more than drugs and he has to produce some kind of paperwork to prove it's his and not stolen which he won't be able to do and hopefully a little ahem, friendly donation for doing such a standup job will help get him locked up where he needs to be and should have been years ago, some time in the monkey house will sort him out when he has to deal with bigger and badder psychopaths than him on a daily basis, I am sure he will turn into a lifer eventually in that environment!
Yes, but again, let the family deal with this, don’t interfere all anger from both sides will land on you. First create distance physically and emotionally.

We have not found any aliens , because the distance is simply too big . There will be no travel at the speed of light or above .
And even the light needs thousands and millions of years to reach us . We only have this planet and other species have their's .
Life on our planet had to re-start at least 4 times because of catastrophic events. Other worlds probably had more luck and should have far more intelligent and advanced life and technology. We don’t see this, so maybe we are the most intelligent life in the universe(s)? We did a great job so far and now we are developing AI which in 100 years will be a specie on its own. Not polluting and no need for food other than pure energy. Interstellar travel will be possible as time will no longer be an issue. Humanity did an incredible job so far but we have no other purpose than creating this new AI entity which will be superior in all possible ways making our specie unnecessary.

I think this is a dangerous situation which easily can escalate. I don’t believe that the suggestion to take daughter and wife to somewhere else is going to work. I expect she will refuse to leave her family. So there is unfortunately no easy solution. My recommendation is to get out now, create distance so you can calm down and assess the situation. Evaluate your options and hopefully find a way out.
I expect the family will deal with him.

Durian is an exotic/tropical fruit.
The fruit named “farang” is guava originating from around Mexico..

Thai people call us " farang", it seems they don't meaning nothing bad with calling us a fruit name.
Durian is a fruit that most of the Thai like very much.
i suppose we can call the Thai, " durian ", a fruit name as well.
“Farang”! points to the fact it is from foreign origin wether it is people, fruit or chewing gum.(mahk falang).

You live in Thailand right? Most Thai-Thai marriages (if not all) involve a sin-sot which is not paid back.
