Not unless Baltimore asks Manila to contact you for some additional info/docs.

Now after Baltimore approves your application and you are drawing benefits, when you need to work a SS issue you should contact Manila for assistance as it will be faster than trying to deal with Baltimore.   Manila will be like your local SS office since Manila is responsible for countries in this part of the world.

Pib thought I would update you on this and ask a question .

After about 3-4 months of waiting on Baltimore to approve I contacted Manila by email about my situation and they promptly responded and said they would check with Baltimore. Promptly again, they emailed me that they would transfer the app to their office (Manila) and would update me.

Now it’s been 5 months since first applying for benefits. I sent an email on Monday politely asking if they could inform me approximately how long the process might take as I needed to make some financial decisions. They haven’t replied to this email though.

My question is do you or other forum members know how long approvals are taking in these covid times? I based the application date on the statement on MySocialSecurity that for most people approval would be in 2-4 weeks lol!

  2. Thanks so much Farang….just downloaded on my iPhone. I got my first Phizer yesterday at Bumrangrad and they gave me a card to show at my second jab in 3 weeks. This card had a 600000 number that I entered along with my phone # and was able to see all info about my jab yesterday.

Very good experience yesterday….in and out in 1 hour including the 30 minute wait time after the shot. Only bummer was traveling 4 hours each way from Kamphaeng Phet…..damn, bkk is a ghost town, no traffic which was great for this trip.

By the way, I was registered on both expatvac and Bumrangrad.

  4. Hello gentlemen-

I applied for SS on July 1 on “my social security” account. It is being reviewed and is on step 2 of 3, as I just checked the status online. It is being reviewed by the Baltimore office for approval.

I was going to use my US address but changed to my Thai address because of some wording on the application about not being in the States for 30 continuous days. My benefits will go into my US Schwab account.

Do you think Manila will have to be involved since I used my Thai address?

  5. Getting tired of instant coffee but know nothing about the machines that you add beans to and it grinds them. Doesn’t really have to do latte, cappuccino, etc. If it’s tasty I like it plain black.

Can the TV coffee connoisseurs advise?

Visa status is irrelevant. Anyone who is in Thailand, can register.

Which vaccine you will get will depend on your age/risk category and also what is in stock which in turn will vary over time.

In June, they will at best have only enough AZ for the over 60's, everyone else will be Sinvac.

AZ stocks should gradually rise after that.

Not all provinces are doing registration.  Mine just announced that exisiting appointments made via Mor Prom will be ignored and it will just be walk in, first come/first serve.

Since I spent a full day and burned many irreplacable brain cells registering through Mor Prom, I'm not too happy about this. It will be chaotic and crowded and I'll end up behind peopekl whose appointment dates were much later than mine.

But this is in my province, others may do it differently. The "guidance" (sic) from central levels has been so poor and contradictory that increasingly local officials are deciding their own approaches.

Hi  my dear Sheryl, always a voice of calm…..I am in Kamphaeng Phet anda group of about 7-8 people from the local hospital (so my GF tells me) came by about 2 weeks ago to register the household….they wanted my passport only and ,after I asked said it would be they said Phizer…end of report, let me swap some flies geeeeezzzz!

If I tell a bank, say Charles Schwab, to send my new debit card to my Thai address....do I risk having them suspend my account for no longer residing in the USA?

Or, at worst, would the bank just insist on sending my new card to a US address?

Does the activation always have to involve phone verification?

Schwab has sent me 2 replacement cards in the last 6 months that the atm ate....one my fault and one atm’s fault, to my Thai address though I have an address in the USA.
