  1. I received info there is a SYM dealer in Kamphaeng Phet named "A.V. Motorbikes"...anyone know this dealership? As in are they a big shop with alot of inventory with a good service area or a small shop that would have to order most choices of scooters. I am interested in Joymax 300.

  2. Here's an update on my account opening. Arrived BKK on morning of 9/5/2014. Around noon my GF and I went to the branch at Sukhumvit Soi 11. Sat down with the English speaking customer service rep and told her I wanted to open a savings account to prepare for my retirement extension using the NYC branch for money transfer from my US account. She looked at my passport (entered on 30 day visa exempt) and said " You can open after you get retirement visa". I replied smiling "I cannot get retirement visa until I have 800,000 baht in Thai bank" . She smiled and started getting paperwork out of a file and showing me what to fill out! She did not ask for a Thai address but did want a Thai phone number. I told her I did not have a Thai telephone, would my GF's number suffice? "OK"......45 minutes after entering walked out with an account and a ATM card . Went from "no can do" to "OK" in 45 seconds!!

  3. Thanks for the info guys. On the BB web site it states that even on a short time stay you can open a savings account and receive a debit card. Does anyone know if they will open one in Bangkok on a visa exempt status, and if any branches are more accommodating than another? I am wanting to open an account to start seasoning money for retirement extension.

  4. I am just looking at it from the standpoint of reporting a change of where I am staying...and where to turn in the TM28. When I arrive in BKK I will let my hotel do the reporting. As I have always stayed at the same hotel, I assume they are doing this. Actually I had never known about the TM28 and TM30 until I started reading the forum and checking on the changes that are happening with immigration and planning a trip to my GF's home.

  5. Thanks guys..I had read a posting that said the TM28 HAD to be turned into immigration. The TM30 states on it that it can be turned in to local police if no immigration is close but the TM28 did not state that, just that you had to report to local police ( as in..Hey, I'm here!) and I could find nothing on searches that said one way or another.

  6. Upon arrival in Thailand I will be staying in BKK for 3 days and will put my hotel on my arrival card. Then I will travel by fare van to Pang Sila Thong, staying with my GF's family. She will take the TM 30 to the local police station as the nearest immigration is at Nakhon Sawan (Nakhon Sawan services Pang Sila Thong District). As to the TM 28, it says I need to report to the local police within 24 hours. Will do. But where do I turn in the TM 28? With the closest immigration being over 1 hour away and my GF not having a vehicle. Can form be mailed and if so, to what address?

I know the TM 28 might not be enforced sometimes, some places, but I am trying to be legal to avoid possible problems.
