The uncontrolled "Exponential curve" is exactly what will happen in Thailand. By shutting down (somewhat) Bangkok, and not banning domestic travel, they have spread the infection to the provinces. Brace for 15 to 20 Million cases by end of May. Sadly hundreds of thousand will die.
Agreed, look at the photos of Mor Chit in another thread and all the workers in Pattaya and Bangkok streaming home because no work there. Confirmed by the GF as “so and so’s sister/brother is on the way to their family home” bla bla bla
used to feel safe here in the province....not anymore.
And the Thai way is to welcome them with open arms .....they are family and not want to lose face.

I am not a “OMG! Give me hand sanitizer!!” guy but the way the Thai’s in my country area approach just basic hygiene is crazy. I know they have lived like this for eons and their immune system has adapted, but for instance today I was at a monk ceremony for a young man and all the people that are cooking and preparing for the festivities and children are drinking water out of the same single cup by the water cooler.
Hope none of the revelers came from Bangkok with Corona!

My first car was a 1957 Chevy convertible. (It was about five years old then.) I then had a newer, used 1964 Chevy convertible, and finally a brand new 1967 Chevy Camero SS 396 v8.
I now have a Chevy Colorado truck here in Thailand. I bought it brand new about six years ago. It's been a very good vehicle, and I hope to have it for many more years.I wonder if the dealerships go, if the new owners, Great Wall, will continue to service cars and trucks like mine.
Also have a Colorado for going on 4 years and never had to do anything to it but change the oil. Bought it used 1 year old with 10K kilometers for 325,000B....great value

How do you know the moon isn’t made of green cheese? Have you been there?
The Iranians have killed many of their own citizens, and I can promise you they don’t give one hoot about the lost Canadians. You can’t take a western “There’s no earthly reason why the Iranians would do that” attitude.

I really don’t get some TVF posters. Of course I don’t know what your home country is but I know Europe and Britain have had many deaths of their citizens from extremists, many Muslim and many directed by Iran.
As far as the US, the Democrats would blame Trump no matter what the issue is.- 6

He was in Iraq and had just caused the death of another American added to the list of over 600 American deaths he was responsible for along with the thousands of others in the region and around the world. Trump has done more to protect American lives as a line has been drawn and upheld by him that I wish my own country would follow: kill one of our countrymen (the term covers all sexes and ages) and there will be serious consequences. Well done Trump.
Well said Scot. Duck your head tho, here come the Iranian extremist apologists

I did not intend to excuse anyone -- I was just pointing out that the Iranians did not set out to kill civilians. As for the “evil nature” of the regime in Tehran, I try to be careful with words like that.
How do you possibly know that? Where you in with the person that pushed the button??

Not all office have the same requirements. I would say that the majority of offices will accept the photos printed on plain paper.

Ok, here goes.
1. Filled out the main VISA app form and the extra form.
2. Chicago wants “proof of retirement “. As I am not yet getting S.S. or a pension, I used the separation letter from my previous work and that was accepted. tried to phone and email Chicago for what they would accept but never got a response.
3. Medical Clearance...Right before my job ended, I had taken my annual company required physical. Took a copy of the results to my family doc and he did one blood test and signed off. Notarized by his staff.
4. Police clearance at State Police and notarized by them.
5. Last bank statement (3 weeks old) was below 800,000 so added a notarized letter from the bank showing the current balance was above after I transferred money to get it above.
Included a self addressed express small envelope for the return of the passport. Put everything in an express envelope including a money order for $200 and 2 passport pics.
Think that’s all. Ask anything and I will try to answer. Mailed on a Thursday and received back the following Thursday.

Since you got your visa on or about the dates for the new possibility of required health insurance. was anything mentioned about insurance by the consulate?
Not required. Right before I sent everything, I checked the website to see if it had been added.

I would just like to thank Pib and John for the time and effort they take to phone call, e-mail, visit main bank branches, etc. and post the info on TV for all our benefit. The info they post about banking and transfer issues (and many other topics) is very much appreciated. The time they spend helping us all, for the good of the expat community in a down to Earth manner is exemplary.

Do all 'at home' embassy/consulates issue an OA on the rules or make their own rules is an important part of the equation.
The Thai Embassy and the 4 Thai consulates each have their own quirks as to what they require...some want papers notarized, some don't. Some want a different amount of copies of each document. The general requirements are the same I think.
I just sent another e-mail to the Chicago consulate. I will report if they answer!

I am from Arkansas and fall under Chicago's jurisdiction.
No Jingthing the tax filing doesn't have retired. I don't retire for 3 more months.

Hi OP Guy
I will be applying for an O-A at Chicago in a few months and have a question. One of the requirements on their site is "Proof Of Retirement".
I don't have a pension and am not yet receiving SS. Can I ask you what you use to satisfy this requirement? I will be doing my application by mail and want to make sure my application is complete and to their satisfaction so it doesn't get sent back!

Why do you need to give proof of retirement? To whom?
I am wondering the same for an O-A I will soon apply for at the Chicago Consulate. Proof Of Retirement is asked for. I am retired but do not have a company pension nor am I receiving social security yet. Any one that has applied at Chicago know what they accept? Sent an e-mail but they never answered.

So the L.A. Consulate accepted a visa application from someone from Oklahoma??? I thought the different Thai consulates and embassy each had particular regions of states that they had jurisdiction for.
I wonder if you were a walk in it wouldn't matter where you applied? I think I remember a recent post where someone applied at DC and it was sent back because they were in Chicago's zone.

Congrats on your success!
Can you post a blank "statement of fact" with an added notary clause like you used that was acceptable to the consulate?
