There are already 30 day extensions for those that cannot travel to their home country or cannot get a new entry by doing a border run.

You need a letter from your embassy requesting it.

Thanks. But does it mean i must travel down to Bangkok once in every month (assuming this lockdown isnt stopping anytime soon) just to get letter from embassy and apply another 30 day extension at chaeng wattana?

You know that people live outside of Bangkok will want to avoid Bangkok since this covid hits harder in Bangkok.

  2. Thai Government announces total lockdown of country, and you are one of the holder for Tourist Visa 60 days, and you had just extended your Tourist Visa to another 30 days.

Does this mean there is no way to extend anymore of Tourist Visa? Because i assume that Tourist Visa 60 days can only be extended once for another 30 days, then you must apply for another Tourist Visa outside of Thailand? (Visa border run is not possible too)

Will there be some kind of leniency for short-term foreigners during the time of global pandemic?

I really hope Thai Government would not take such extreme measure as to completely lockdown the country like China did.

  3. Hello,

Anyone know which building in Chaeng Wattana can i translate Thai Birth certificate & Thai Marriage Certificate into English then get legalized?

How long would the process take? how much would it cost for each page/sheet?

And are there any intermediaries translator or legalization services in Bangkok? Somewhere very close to BTS, just submit thai documents then get back in few days later, fully translated & legalized?

    Thank you.

Book an overnight vacation to Hua Hin.  Then visit immigration at Blue Port Mall.  If you avoid the morning rush, there will be just a handful of foreigners present... you might even be the only one. You will be in-and-out in 10-15 minutes.  AFAIK, for tourist extension you can go to any immigration office... just give the address of the hotel or Airbnb you have booked.

At CW, as you know, once you get in that back room you will packed with thousands of others, all waiting & coughing. They do check your temp before entering the immigration department, but that is scant protection.

Thank. But during this period of Covid19, Chaeng Wattana is still packed with tourists?? I've been reading in Bangkokpost that majority of tourist spots all over the world are much lesser of visitors, and i'd assume CW Immigration should be much lesser people too.

And when we arrived at Don Muang Airport, about 2 weeks ago on Saturday at 11.45AM, there were very few visitors on queue line of Immigration. Our flight was not even at its 35% seat-occupied.

Nothing is needed other than what I wrote here plus the application form.

That is the only location in Bangkok. There are offices in the surrounding provinces though but you need a address for them to apply.

They are screening people before allowing people before the enter immigration Chaeng Wattana. That should reduce the risk somewhat.

I forgot to ask, how much the cost to apply for standard tourist visa 30days extension?

    Thanks

    1. The earliest you can apply for the 30 day extension is 2 weeks at most immigration office.

Chaeng Wattana is not the only office in the country where you can apply for the extension if you have a local address to put on the application form.

You could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife and family.

The have not started the 3rd stage of the controls yet.

    2. Early morning is best time to be at Chaeng Wattana.

    3. To apply for the standard 30 day extension of the 60 day entry from a tourist visa is a copy of your passport photo page, visa, entry stamp and TM6 departure card. You wife does not need to be with you when you apply.

To apply for a 60 day extension you wife would need to be with you. Copies of your marriage certificate, copies of her house book registry and ID card. Plus the copies needed for the 30 day extension.

You need a completed TM7 application form with a 4 X 6 cm photo attached.

Thank you. For standard 30 days tourist visa extension, do i also need 4x6 photo, copy of marriage certificate, house book registry, copy of her ID card & passport too?

Other than Chaeng Wattana, where else in Bangkok can i apply for standard 30day tourist visa extension? I assume Chaeng Wattan will be packed with foreigners all day long and that situation will increase the factor of Covid19 infection, thus i'd really prefer to avoid such risk if possible. Maybe smaller quiet immigration offices somewhere hidden in Bangkok?

    Thank you

  8. So I & family have arrived in Bangkok since last week. I came with 60 days tourist visa. My return ticket date mid of May, which mean i have to extend my tourist visa to another 30 days.

    Question:

    1. When can i extend my current visa? (I've only been here for a week) should i wait until the next 30 days? Today i've just read that Thai Gov has officially announced phase 3 public health awareness due to new case of Covid19, so i am thinking to apply for extension as earlier as possible before the city is in complete lockdown (like those in South Korea & Wuhan)

    2. My pregnant wife (8.5mo) & 2 kids are coming along to Chaeng Wattana. They are Thais and i bring them just in case those officials ask for visible proof (they did ask for proof back in 2016, i had to went back and picked up my pregnant wife then returned to ChaengWattana just so officials could see). So, when is the best day & time to visit Chaeng Wattana? Considering all these air pollution and Covid-19 virus, we would really prefer to go when there are less people and less queues.

    3. What documents (original/copies) must i prepare? So far i have copies & original marriage certificate, original house book where my wife born, copies of passports & id cards of wife, i have not made copies of my passport & entry visa stamp yet but it can easily be done, and currently we live in Bangkok hospital guest house for 3 months until May so what kind of document must i ask the hospital to provide? Anything else of documents i am missing out?Do i need to provide copy of return ticket? Do i need my latest photo 6x4? How many? Background color?

Anything of useful information is very much appreciated.

    Thank you

  9. In Chaeng Wattan complex, which building/gate/floor should i tell my taxi/grab driver to drop me?

My purpose is either to extend my 60-day tourist vise for another 30 days OR apply for 60-day spouse visitation permit, whichever possible given my documents and situation.

I remember back in 2016, my taxi driver had to take me around chaeng wattana and finally he dropped me at BUILDING B, GATE 2, then the visa extension was on 2nd floor.

Is it still the same place? Or has Immigration section moved elsewhere?

    Thank you

I promise I will try to ask in a very, very polite way.

Please research the damage all this VERY HIGH amount of pollution can do to your kids and unborn child.  This could be life-changing.  Is going to BKK really worth it?

I wish you the best, please research pollution.   This isn't your normal amount of pollution, this is some of the MOST TOXIC IN THE WORLD

I appreciate your concern. Like i said, we came in 2016 for medical purpose and this year we have to come back again for 90 days of stay. Back in 2016, it was okay to breath.

Yes, i did my research and i need extra input from expats who actually live in Bangkok.

Optionally, we could also live in ChaingRai/ChiangMai during 90 days of stay but according to my research, these two provinces are worse than Bangkok.

Believe me, if it were not necessary, we would not even think to return to Thailand during these months.

  11. Next month of Feb, I & Family (wife + 2 kid+ 1 unborn) will be arriving in Bangkok. We will live in Bangkok Mission Hospital top-floor guesthouse (i think it was on 5th floor, open space rooftop with 2 guest houses) for 90 days. We did the same back in 2016 but at that time the air quality was "better".

Recently I have been seeing news from bangkokpost livefeed, and most of them are about air polution in Bangkok with Lampang and ChiangMai had it the worse.

Anyone living around the vicinity can share how bad is the dust level/polution from February onward?

ANy suggestion what kind of mask should i be looking online now?

Am i expecting worse air quality just by living on the top 5th floor? Or should i request the ground guest house?

    Thank you.

Correct.  Thai Embassies/Consulates are governed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They often are not familiar with requirements of the Immigration Bureau which is the agency that grants extensions of stay.

I didnt know that Thai Embassies/Consulates are not really part of Immigration Bureau. But at least i feel there's hope to not spending more money to travel out of Thailand for 24-hour period. I wasn't sure which country i should spend a night on if i must leave The Kingdom on the 89th day.

  13. 22 hours ago, lopburi3 said:

Who is a different government department than immigration and provided the normal 30 day allowed extension to a tourist visa entry information which he has some knowledge - you are not extending that visa but extending your permitted to stay on basis of visiting Thai relatives and for that a 60 day stay is allowed (nothing to do with the routine 30 day extension of a tourist visa entry).  Extension of 60 days, if meeting the spouse/child requirement, is available from any entry one time only.

    wait, i dont really follow.

So my Tourist Visa which has 60-days of stay in Thailand i can use it to apply for "different" permit to stay for another 60 days? instead of extending the validity of visa itself? So you are saying when i go and meet up one of the immigration officer at chaeng wattana, i shall request him/her to grant me a permit to stay for 60-days for visiting spouse instead of asking him to extend my visa to another 30-day? Do i get this right?

And all this request for stay permit can be done in Dept of Consular Affair Chaeng Wattana building B gate 2 for the cost of THB 1900? (I recall the cost somewhere between 1200-1900)

  14. To update about the possibility of extending 60-day Tourist Visa, i just got on the phone with Thai counsular in Bali. He said that 60-day Tourist Visa can ONLY be extended to another 30 days, then i MUST leave The Kingdom for at least 24 hours, then come back in and get free visa 30-day.

I dont know if what Ubonjoed said can be done (extension 60 days) on 60-day Tourist Visa or perhaps he meant Single entry Non-Imm O, or maybe this Thai Counsular has no idea about 60 days extension on Tourist Visa?

Has there been anyone here visited Thailand with 60-days Tourist Visa and then tried to extend it to another 60 days without fly out of Thailand?

What happened if i only get 30 days extension on Tourist Visa (total 90 days), then i do border run but return back before 24 hours? Do i get arrested or denied entry? Or do i receive just 14-days additional visit?

Sorry for asking too much. I need to prepare everything before this long trip and unable to get usual single entry non-imm O visa has put my mind unease.

  15. Okay, as this topic gets even broader opinion about Single-Entry Non-Imm O vs Tourist Visa 60-day, i would like to clarify what my doubt is (i believed Joe had explained but some members were having different opinion).

I know Single Entry Non-Imm O has validity of 90 days upon arrival in Thailand and can be extended at Chaeng Wattana for another 60-day at the cost 1200 baht or 2000 baht? Yes, i had done this kind of system in the past years, maybe 4-5 times since 2009 so i am very much accostumed to this (i even had all documents ready -- except the copy of entry stamp on my passport). My last Single-Entry Non-Imm O sticker was dated back in January 2017 and in that year of 2017 i lived in Thailand for about 4.5 months.

HOWEVER, last few days ago i was denied Single Entry by Thai Counsular Bali & Embassy in Jakarta due to insufficient fund of having 400k baht in bank account for the past 2 months (i'll be honest, had i known the requierement for SINGLE-ENTRY NON-IMM O had changed, i would have deposited USD 15k in my local bank account since October rather than having it on cash. But i need the visa by January 2020 and having deposited the amount starting today is useless as it will not meet the 2-month bank statement requirement). I know 400K deposit was only applicable for MULTI-ENTRY Non-Imm O in the past.

Therefore i asked if TOURIST VISA 60-day can be extended to another 60 days at Chaeng Wattana because i only need to stay in the Kingdom for just 110 days, or about 3 months and 2 weeks top. I could do border run but Ubonjoed said that i could apply for extension 60 days stay without having gone to Cambodia/Laos/Myanmar.

Getting SINGLE-ENTRY Non-Imm O visa is no longer a valid option for me. I will have to apply to normal Tourist Visa next month before fly to Thailand.

I am thankful to people who help and shared their knowledge regarding this matter.

Thank you for correcting me, so for an ordinary entry based on tourism, you mean that you can extend with 60 days for a single entry tourist-VISA?? For a 60 days VISA extend with 60 days??

    glegolo

Thank you for clarification. I was confused about the possibility of extending Tourist Visa 60-day with another 60-day but it seems doable as long as i can provide all required documents.

  17. 5 hours ago, ubonjoe said:

You can only apply for extensions at a immigration office. None are issued by the police.

If you are living in Bangkok you would apply at Chaeng Wattana.

You do not need take the entire family with you. Your wife is enough.

You will need your marriage certificate and a copy of it. Copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card.

Copies of your passport photo page, visa, entry stamp and TM6 departure card. A completed TM7 application form with a 4X6 cm photo attached.

You will need proof of where you are staying. Something from the hospital would be enough.

Thank you very much for thourough information.

I think i have everything ready but one, TM7 form? what is this? where do i get the form? Is it given at Chaeng Wattana or must i ask upon arrival at Don Muang?

And is there any specific background color for photo ID 4x6cm?

Again, I really do appreciate for your vast and shareable knowledge regarding Thai immigration system.

You can certainly get a 60 day extension of a tourist visa or even a visa exempt entry.

From the police order for extensions.

    image.png.6c5371e51d470969a184f7f5822a24ef.png

The 14 day entry at land border crossings was eliminated almost 2 years ago. It is now 30 days.

Thanks. I didnt know that the government has reverted back to good ol' 30-day border run. I thought 14-day visa border is still a thing.

Based on your attachment, do i have to apply 60-day extension at the nearby police station? Or just visit chaeng wattana and bring along my thai wife and kids? What are the required documents to apply that 60-day extension on tourist visa?

I'll bring copy and original marriage certificate, copy and original of birth certificates of my kids, passports, id card of wife, do i need to bring house certificate where my wife lives? Or just document from hospital will suffice (we will live at hospital guest house for 110 days)? Photo ID? Anything else i miss out?

Thank you very much to lighten up my confusion.

a single tourist-VISA can be extended by 30 days at local immigrtion inside Thailand..

    glegolo

Thank you for reply. Any chance i can extend it again to another 30-day after apply for 30-day extension? I need to stay in Thailand for at least 110 days (and i believed single-entry non-imm O is the right and perfect visa for my situaton. 90-day plus 60-day extension at Chaeng Wattana for less than 2000 baht fee, but now i have no time to deposit 400k baht for 2 months).

I wouldnt mind to apply for normal tourist visa 60-day, then apply extension for 30-day on the 59th day in Thailand, then i will re-apply for another 30-day extension (or maybe 2 weeks are enough) on the 89th day in Thailand without fly-out of the country

  20. 32 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:

This is on their website. http://www.thaiembassyjakarta.com/en/consular-services/non-immigrant-visa-o/

"3.1.4 Applicant’s bank statement showing at least THB 400,000 or equivalent in other currencies for the past two months."

Odd Bali says 6 months. They normally follow Jakarta's requirements.

Perhaps best to change your travel plans to another embassy or consulate that does not ask for it.

You can apply for a 60 day extension of any type of entry to visit your spouse.

Do you mean that with normal Tourist Visa 60-day i can get another 60-day extension at Chaeng Wattana office? I remember Tourist Visa only gets max 30 day extension then i must travel out of Thailand (either by border run or plane). But maybe i got it wrong all these years? I've always believed that Single-Entry Non-Imm type O is the only visa where i can get extension 60-day at Chaeng Wattana or 14-day via border run, hence i avoided applying for normal tourist visa everytime i must stay in Thailand longer than 100 days.

  21. So i've just hang up the phone with rep of Thai Embassy in Jakarta and Thai Counsular in Bali (I phoned both of them just to cross check).

I've been doing Single-entry Non-Imm O for as long as i could remember but to my surprise today i was told that now both Single-entry and Multi-entry Non-Imm O (marriage based) require 400.000 baht bank statement. My flight ticket is scheduled Feb 2020 and all travel expense of 430.000 baht equivalent had been converted to cash USD.

Is this true? Thai Embassy in Jakarta told me that bank statement must be 2 months but Thai counsular in Bali told me the bank statement must be 6 months at minimum. I'm speechless and perhaps some legal experts here can tell me what is going on. I know Multi-Entry Non-Imm O must have 400k bank statement but Single-Entry???

I was suggested to apply normal tourist visa 60-day then extend it at (i dunno where but border run and/or chaeng wattana), but to my knowledge normal Tourist Visa 60-day can NOT be extended for 30-day. At most i would be getting 14-day extension with normal Tourist Visa. For medical reason - baby-delivery -, i need to stay in Bangkok for at least 110 days (which will synergized with Single-Entry Non-Imm O 90-day + 30-day extension in Chaeng Wattana).

Any information/suggestion pertaining my case will be very much appreciated.
