Foreign Tourist Punches Thai Driver During Heated Argument in Phuket
SS1 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Yeah let's see the full video and what happened before the attack. I'd be surprised if the van driver is totally innocent. -
Foreign Tourist Assaulted in Phuket Old Town, Prompting Safety Concerns
SS1 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
This is the scrary part.. naturally for anyone seeing this you would immediately jump to help. I would too. But as a farang, you have a great risk of surrounding Thai males misinterpreting the situation and attacking you instead. If you saw the German guy who was beaten in Pattaya, some of the attackers confessed they had nothing to do with any party but just saw it and joined the beating. -
A big part is also because of idiot drivers parking illegally, turning from the wrong lanes, lane hogging etc. the list goes on.

Just legalize it with appropriate quality controls and stop being totally retarded.. -
12-Year-Old in Critical Condition After Vaping for Two Years
SS1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
This is a good example why it should be LEGALIZED. Control it with relevant FDA approval for devices and e-liquids and this wouldn't happen. It's not a suprise you get cases like these when the market is flooded with uncontrolled poor quality Chinese stuff. -

VietJet named one of world’s safest airlines in 2025

Whoever made this claim must be unaware of the dangers of high blood pressure. 90% of the flights I've taken with Vietjet have been delayed.. 😡 -
Motorcyclist Chases Down Foreign Hit-and-Run Driver in Phuket
SS1 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
That is true, but I have heard of court cases of similar accidents where the driver cutting in front was deemed at fault. This is only hearsay though, from foreign car drivers who had similar accidents. My point was also that you can't really blame Thais for riding on the left, because they've been taught to do so for decades and even fined for not doing so. "Motorcycle is the one who caused the accident" Are you kidding? Look at the video again. Even the grey car driving correctly has to slam his brakes because of the idiot cutting across. Not saying the rider is in the right here but the car is definitely doing the greater evil. -
I'm not sure, but I have seen some stalls in shopping malls stocking e.g. most of the "NOW Foods" supplements. I'd expect the prices to be higher than online though.

I've been very annoyed with the new VAT/duty prepayment on iHerb. Previously, they used to include a "local post plus" service which gave the recipient the responsibility of paying their tax. However, during the past 10 years I was never taxed on a single package. So in practice, the tax pre-payment is now just a direct extra cost on top making ordering from iHerb a lot more expensive than what it was before. The "free shipping" is also a total gimmick. When you get free shipping, a similar amount is just added as "tax & duties" instead. On top of this, Flash Express doesn't accept certain products like Melatonin, so ordering them is no longer an option, and they have low maximum quantity/weight limits. I have found that for some items (not all though), shopping on Lazada/Shopee is actually cheaper these days.

Motorcyclist Chases Down Foreign Hit-and-Run Driver in Phuket
SS1 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
Yeah I certainly don't agree with it. But it does make sense on e.g. highways where helmetless locals are riding less than 1/3 of the speed limit; simply to keep the road clear. Also in heavy traffic situations, sometimes there is no other viable choice than passing on the left to keep moving forward. -
Motorcyclist Chases Down Foreign Hit-and-Run Driver in Phuket
SS1 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
Despite what you or the official law says, motorcyclists have been consistently taught to ride on the hard shoulder and even fined for not doing so. I have been personally fined in Bangkok at a police checkpoint for "correctly" overtaking a row of trailer trucks. According to the cop, I should have undertaken the trucks on the curbside instead. Only a suicidal person would do that. -
Minister launches emergency plan as deadly dust chokes Thailand
SS1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Just imagine if they used the same energy to stop burning here as had with the retarded Covid circus? Police arresting people for swimming in the sea or for having wine at home. Never going to forget those months of total madness. If there is a will there is a way. -
93 Dead, 575 Injured in Two Days of New Year Road Crashes
SS1 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Thailand News
I've never understood how they can determine speed as the main cause of the accidents. I mean how is it possible? Are these all cases where someone e.g. just loses control of the vehicle and flies off the road in a curve, or similar? And poor visibility.. that's a new one. Foggy day? -
Foreign Tourist Performs Dangerous Motorcycle Stunt on Koh Samui

I don't know why the police get so excited about wheelies, but no one seems to care about Thais e.g. riding through red lights? -
Motorcyclist attacks public bus with rocks, bottles in Nonthaburi
SS1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
I have almost done this a few times myself. The Bangkok bus drivers are some of the worst scum on the city roads. You see them racing every day on Sukhumvit road crossing to the rightmost lane to overtake other buses then immediately cutting back across 3 lanes to get to a bus stop. Also, the number of times I've seen them just blasting through red lights is crazy. -

What’s Better: Cisgender or Transgender Thai Women?
SS1 replied to 123Stodg's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
If they indeed are medical terms why use them in daily conversations? The term "cisgender" in particular is very cringey when one could just say "woman". Just hoping this madness stays out of Thailand. -

Yeah let me guess; medical websites from the same countries where people fight about which bathrooms to use? -
What’s Better: Cisgender or Transgender Thai Women?
SS1 replied to 123Stodg's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Please keep that woke terminology in your home country. The correct terms are "Women" and "Ladyboys".. or if more specification needed, "real women" and "ladyboys". Both are great and to be treated with respect. -
Appeal Launched for British Teacher Gravely Injured in Thailand Crash
SS1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I know someone who was at the scene of the accident calling for an ambulance (assuming it's the same accident, but based on the date, location and story, I'm 99% sure). I was not there personally but this is what I was told: The accident involved 3 people and it was late at night: The Brit was not riding a motorbike, but he was a passenger on one which was being ridden by a local lady. The lady merged onto the oncoming traffic lane to ride the wrong way to avoid having to U-turn much further away (there is a raised lane divider on this part of the road, with a U-turn further up). However, there was a local man riding at a decent speed from the other direction, correctly in his lane, who hit the lady + Brit crossing the road. The Brit passenger and the Thai man got injured and the lady who caused the mess was mostly uninjured. Very nasty accident. If everything happened as described, can't really blame anyone except the lady taking the shortcut out of laziness, which ultimately caused life-changing injuries for the Brit and possibly for the Thai guy as well. The moral of the story: never ride as a passenger on a motorbike and let someone else be in control of your life. -
Private car blocks emergency vehicle, patient dies in Samut Prakan

They need to fit some heavy duty bull bars onto those ambulances, and just give drivers like that a little push when needed.
