  1. We've had a few apartments done out from a Lady in BKK. I'll ask the missus and PM you the number. This was pre-covid so I don't know if she is still in business, but very happy with the condos she did for us.

Price wise she was excellent and service, measurements, selection, fitting was excellent.

I call fast and hard currency crash by then - same as Sri Lanka.

    What Thailand or China?

Thailand seems to be getting away with it(been saying the same for years and years). China - check your shorts or TV - they're made there - U.S. anti Chinese propaganda.

Sri Lanka - love the place, but a bit of a swerve-ball. Where did that come into anything ?

You need more depth to your "predictions" with reasoning.

You keep digging        - those "couriers" from whoever delivering whatever... you shouldn't mention drugs so much....

    Stick to alcohol..

    Meant as a joke ????

Agreed, most Europeans will now concentrate on Europe where there are nicer beaches and better nightlife.

It will only be Nov' onwards when the majority start to think of warmer shores. Even then I doubt they'll entertain Thailand with the current requirements.

I want to get back(have condos), but I won't return under the current requirements.

Outside of your room is…. Wait for it……common area.
Check what’s permissible in the bylaws.

Again - so in Thailand people do not take their shoes off and leave them OUTSIDE the apartment in the COMMON space. WAIT for it - most people do that & is expected !

What does annoy me is people that don't know Thai traditions ????

Next time you go for a massage please don't leave your Doctor Martens or pointe shoes outside in the common area ( not owned by the shop ) please ????

Get the debit card offered by Wise (Transferwise), put both your home currency and thai baht on the card, then use that card in Thailand to get money from cash machines. If you use up all the money,  transfer more to the Wise debit card using the Wise phone app and your regular account back home.

My missus is back in BKK now. We got a wise card(UK) to test out.

When she tested it in the ATM it said there was a 200 baht charge for the transaction - she was withdrawing a small amount - a few hundred baht -  as we only planned to test it's use. Is that the standard charge?

Ive made a mental note to never buy a condo.

I own several - and you're completely right in doing so - you're much better renting, esp' if you're a frequent traveler or split your time between Thailand and "home" ????

There are many responsibilities and they are a tax on your time and wallet - let the Landlord take the stress - do the maintenance, pay for issues and pay the maintenance fees.

If an owner is leaving shoes out--and decorating the public hallway with his plants--then he is in the wrong place if both are against the condo rules.  As another poster said, if you want to do that check the condo rules first before buying or renting.

I feel it's important to have strict rules and enforce them.  One pair of shoes in the hallway can lead to a half dozen or more scattered around. One person's idea of what is tasteful is likely to clash with someone else's.  An attractive plant in a nice pot in the hallway might sound ok.  But, what happens when the plant pot leaks and stains the floor?  Or, the resident decides that since one plant is ok, why not have 5 or 6?  And, let's add a plant trellis while we're at it.  Better to say no and enforce it--the resident can practice his green thumb in his private unit, not the public areas.

The pots and plants outside my apartments are artificial. I wouldn't put a live plant outside that needed watering.

They add colour, depth and warmth to the corridors.

I'd prefer that than a set of doors  like a cheap hotel.

You are quoting for direct flights.  I travelled with Etihad over the Christmas period for less than £600 and again in March with Qatar for £451.

Flights in June returning July today (no crazy layovers and with hold luggage):

    Austrian Airlines £570 Agent

    Lufthansa £584 Agent

    Qatar £590 Agent

Problem with agents, is if something goes wrong your generally screwed. It's a matter of table tennis of the agent and airline blaming each other. You sitting in the middle unable to plan.

I would never book through them ( Did once to SA via BA and it was a nightmare)

Great if all goes to plan, in these uncertain times, I'd prefer the better odds of direct with the airline.

I scanned them onto a memory stick.

I suspect this is the issue causing the quality issue - scanning deteriorates quality in some instances.

Like other members I took a photo with my phone and it was accepted for my passport renewal.

BTW, if you then renew your driving license they'll use the same passport photo within x years

Once again someone not reading the article in full. The very next line should enlighten you:-

"...............and a group of bouncers went into stop trouble, or so they claimed.

In the end CCTV caught them causing it as fists flayed."

And yet in another post someone said that there were no Thais involved at all - AND THEY WERE THERE! ???? (Pity they didn't take a video to contradict the CCTV footage!)

Maybe there were so many incidents - one was simply confused with another down the road - simply happening all over the town ????

I am looking for similar. Found safetywing.com

Buy by the month. Its not cheap... age 60-64 is about £100/month with US$250k medical coverage.

I'm looking for something similar too for later in the year.

That seems expensive for what is very small medical coverage. I'd pass on that as it's way too low.

I think most of us are just looking for medical cover - not so much the travel insurance cover.

Again the lowest medical coverage is showing at £4 million again...... 99.9% bonkers for Thailand as I'm sure most agree

FYI, re this if you're saying this is too high, you may need to think again.

Staysure(https://www.staysure.co.uk/) - the largest UK travel insurance company now brackets Thailand in with the U.S. in it's top tier for costs.

You used to have worldwide excl - USA(&a few Caribbean others), Thailand is now included in that top-tier group.

Next group Worldwide excl' the above ( USA, Thailand..).

    Europe..

I didn't understand why, but there must be an insurance cost reason. And the cost to the worldwide premium is quite a large %.
