  1. Take no notice of negative and condescending feedback. You make your own mind up. Get your money and your immigration status sorted. Stay relaxed and calm and see what happens.

if you have an agreement with a company or individual it is always prudent to fulfill that agreement. Otherwise you will be in breach of that agreement and unsure of the consequences.

Adult life is about being responsible for yourself.

    Good luck and stay positive.

  2. Sorry the reference to Burma is that the unskilled staff are Burmese. The cashiers are Thai graduates, most of which are very fit and nice looking. There is also an excellent IT shop near the exit. A third of the price of similar outlets.

Scoff at supercheap if you have money to throw away. They openly sell knock off gear that ends up on Soi Bangla for 20 x the original price.

Without being c**tish I highly recommend it. Good selection of Alcohol and tobacco.

  3. There are some nice Thai versions, small packets sold in every mom & pop shop at five baht for 25 gms. My favorite has a small black cat on the packet with a green band below a health warning picture of a diseased lung.

You can buy imported bacci but it's comparatively 10 times the price.

The Thais' have a local version of pretty much everything you can buy in the west just different packaging, possibly less additives and 1/3 western price.

Have fun looking - you can ask in Thai like this - Me ya sen maew dam, chai mai? Have tobacco, cat black, yes, no?

If you want to ask about Golden Virginia or western hand rolling tobacco in a store. Say - me (do you have) ya sen (tobacco) falang (western) mai (question)

  4. The joy of teaching is the teacher gets paid to be a student also. To be a student one has to be open to ideas, points of view and different ways to do things. Too think any other way but your own, is the only way isn't a receptive outlook - I mean everything worth inventing has already been invented hasn't it?

Were a student to think this way, as a teacher I accept that now is not the right time for them to study, mark them as present and allocate scarce resources to those that want to learn.

    See the point of view?

  5. I read you post and wish to share my personal experience.

Quite hot at the Thai border concerning ED visas. Immigration officers have the power to call the school to see if you have attended and if so, when was the last date you were there. if, the school tells them they haven't seen you since such and such date your visa will be null and void - the max overstay is B20,000 or a custodial sentence.

The point is not to expose yourself to attention from Thai immigration. They have discretionary powers, and as such enforcement of the law may appear to be inconsistent.

It is of utmost importance to be aware of immigration law. It can be a lottery if you are 'in the wrong'

The farang advisers incumbent at immigration offices are knowledgeable. Make sure you fully understand your immigration status.

  6. Everyone has a choice, why would anybody have kids, believe in religion, buy a mass marketed 'smart' pointless product, buy anything advertised as premium?

A teacher should inspire students and invite them to learn. Show them that we don't know anything and anyone that thinks they do is deluded. Have sympathy for negative sad people. They are a lot of fun and far to easy to agitate.

  7. Nob ed's that turn their noses up at others aren't worth the time of day and should be ignored. The art of a good communicator is to convey a message, if it's received and understood then you have succeeded. Far to many sad losers on TV.

You were just unlucky. Pick yourself up, put it down as a lesson and try again, that's what life is about. If you have the right qualifications you will find another job.

    Good luck.

  8. There are a few 'dating' sites with Phuket girls. Have met some nice girls doing this. Never got involved with them sadly, always seem to be something wrong with them. More to the point l couldn't be bothered waiting around. Easy to find dating sites, there are some advertised on TV.

  9. Look at the mess the west is in. Murdering shepherds? Messing about with kids. Eating garbage food leading to obesity, no respect or care the elderly, cheating at sport, seduced by mass marketing. Getting p***ed every weekend and having a dust up. It's much nicer here, although Thailand looks to be heading for financial trouble.

If only the farangs here realised, there's nothing to prove, you just make yourself look more ridiculous.

  10. Buried Sir David Frost last week. RIP

Everything you do here requires the correct piece of paperwork. Visa run to Ranong's a scam isn't it.

Corruption is at the root of every issue. At my workplace we have a huge departmental budget yet photocopying lesson material is restricted. The Holder of the purse strings sees it as their own personal piggy bank. If I wish to keep my nice little job I have to keep my mouth shut. Is it possible this is endemic?

These time wasting 'tests' are perhaps 'a nice little earner.' Why butcher a cash cow?
