However, it remains to be seen how these new bull<deleted> tax grab laws will play out. If they start to implement with a vigor, then will certainly be looking at moving away. If the thai government can accept this and carry on as they were and keep in the 19th century, then good for them. I summarily ask for : 1. give an audit of government cash and where it goes .. 2. Explain why only 50+ family's can own 90% of businesses throughout Thailand without being called a monolopoly 3. Explain why almost no services, such as road repairs are conducted 4. Explain why there are no restrictions to building permits thereby completely overloading the current works as it is now? 5. Explain where the benefits of paying tax will be for foreigners, such as benefits for social security, no double standards at hospitals / local parks etc 6. Explain why there won't be any voting rights. If they want our money, there has to be some give and take, and as usual, there is only take with this mob.

That was after I visited immigration coming from the bank for the letter. as usual, they love the stress it causes, and I just cannot fathom why they can't simply post requirement updates on a webpage or even facebook for that matter, so at least some people might have a chance of having a decent visit rather than everyone clucking around and getting annoyed including the immigration people (as I saw today) I've been doing this for 20yrs and things have definitely improved, but there's no need for this if the correct info is given in advance. The mind boggles...

I know re banking, for years, SCB could not give an up to date statement, however, this is now possible from what I did today, I made a transaction from my app, and had the missus go into a bank and update the bank book which showed the transaction I just made, so maybe they have revamped the system. For sure, they'll be asking for it, which is why I made the update to lessen the usual stress levels. Also, the other curveball is the lat/ long on google maps...
-
Just thought I'd drop a line for this update as always, things have changed again, so see as follows : 1. Bank statement - Need to make sure the bank statement is up to the day you file for an extension (I use SCB, and in the past, updates would only show from the previous day, now, it will show right up to the day you make a transaction on the day, so I had to make a transfer and re-print the bank book again. So make sure you make a transaction on your bank app on the day you go to the bank for the letter. 2. Previously, hand drawn map, now changed to google maps, but you must make sure the latitude / longitude is displayed also (that is what they want). You can use your phone google map, display the co-ordinates and take a snapshot, the photocopy place has a line / whatsapp QR code to send to them and they'll print it for you if you haven't done it from home. 3. Room changed to 103 in the newer building near to the toilets, if walk-in, grab a number card at the end of the desks on the right as you walk through the door. 4. Required more copies of previous extensions, I had to print out another 10 pages, and they gave me back at least 5, not wanted. 5. Only took 1 photo of me outside the house with number. Inside didn't want. 6. There is a phone number displayed, 0954109103, maybe help to call for further info if needed. 7. I'm married and live in my wifes house, ID card / Blue Book, Marriage cert previously needed in lieu of a rental agreement, now not. 8. Guy at the desk phoned my number to verify my phone. New one. Hope this helps.

Thai Women’s Breast Cancer Cases Increase by Over 17,000 Annually
Tbone999 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I see a rise in cancer even within my own thai family who primarily eat seafood. I have a pause of concern of whether these issues are also related to the fukoshima nuclear power plant consistently releasing their radioactive contaminated water into the oceans....not to mention the smog of all the cars belching their oil (hydrocarbons are a known carcinogen) contaminated smoke into the air because of lax controls..... -
Honest immigration question
Tbone999 replied to Can samui's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
For my Retirement Extension in Phuket, I nearly fell over. Luckily I picked a date just after Xmas, there were hardly any people there. With the correct paperwork, I was out within 20min, the same the next day, handed my ticket to the guys outside, and got my passport back inside 10min, then another 15min to get my re-entry. Kudos to the Phuket Immigration, an entirely different experience I've had for years :) Well done!! -
I for one, have never used an agent, most of the time, it's at the very most a few hours of messing around. Yes, have to endure the IO's bad temper, but most of the time, I feel it's the people always showing up not prepared that causes this. I certainly wouldn't want a job of facing people showing up in singlets and see through swim attire where it's clearly stated to dress appropriately, then have someone messing around with lack of paperwork. They do a tough job facing person after person, day after day. I'm not condoning the bad tempers, but being Thailand as it is, they probably have the worst job going to be honest.

Thankyou all for your comments, at least it gives me a starting point and a few ideas to think about.

Not sure, usually AAC blocks are a mixture of components with air bubbles creating the insulation
-
This is just an initial fact finding mission
-
Would using a double brick (standard and cheap) with a foam fill work just as effective?
-
Or, has anyone built with the idea of using a double brick idea and filling the gap with foam for the outside walls?
-
I could go the way of double bricking with a cavity, but want to find out if there's anything better. The house designs around here are crap for what we need, simple is enough, but insulating is a priority
-
Not at all, I'm looking for best insulation, and from what I've been reading, the AAC blocks are pretty much the same construct, but prices vary between the manufacturers and their comes with the complication of local builders not understanding how to deal with these particular blocks. I have zero expertise in this type of construction and looking for advise that's all. All I know is, if I go ahead and build something like this, has got to be better than using the usually useless local bricks which just makes a house so uncomfortable, it's a dread to live there. All these local designs / building materials seem to be just a look fancy, living hell, so looking into other possibilities really...
-
I'm looking to build using the cheapest AAC block I can find in Phuket. Has anyone done this? If so, can you list suppliers, also I'd need a builder/company/house designer experienced with dealing with this type of material

I would like to endorse WRLife as they have come through with a claim. They are indeed fair and trustworthy and adhere to their ethical approach to insurance for everyone, many thanks to Patrick and his team for the help.

Closest land border from Phuket?
Tbone999 replied to Leveraged's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The most pleasant way via land is go to the Andaman Club for a day trip https://www.kbv-visarunphuket.com/phuket-visa-run-andaman-club/ -
Load the page up on Microsoft Edge, it'll detect the thai language and translate to english for you.
