While the increase is disturbing, 97 cases out of a population of 70 million is hardly a reason to run up the red flags on tourists coming to a tropical beach, who probably have similar odds of catching something sitting in their damp, cold, rainy homeland. (It's that "at least 97" that gives me pause)
I suspect 100x as many tourists come home with one of the other STD's. That doesn't seem to slow them down.
I don't want to be a drama queen, but you do realize, that you can be infected without going to see a doctor . Its only people there has been in the hospitals is tested and properly very sick there is in the statistic. You have to calculate this factor in
If this mosquito has been biting 3 or 4 persons, as this type of mosquito does, then its 97*97*97 a bit more people and then new cult mosquito out there will bite again

Again again again, opposite statements from other news articles. I never trust Thai PBS news articles and really don't understand TV using them as source.
He suggested that the EU’s disease control and prevention centre should base its report on the data of the World Health Organisation.
I think they do
Another statement in newspaper says opposite
Big jump in number of cases in Thailand
QuoteBetween 2012 and 2015, an average of just five people were recorded as infected with the Zika virus each year. But in the first six months of this year, at least 97 people in Thailand have been diagnosed with the disease. And over the past week, new infections have been detected in Chiang Mai, Chanthaburi, Phetchabun and Bung Kan provinces.
QuoteDisease Control Department chief Dr Amnuay Gajeena, however, sought to allay concerns yesterday about the Zika threat in the country.
"We have implemented the strictest measures in controlling |the spread of the Zika virus," he |said.Amnuay added that Thailand had not seen the prolonged spread of the disease in any affected area and the number of patients was not overwhelming.
Quote"Because of mosquitoes, it's quite hard to eradicate Zika virus once and for all," Chiang Mai's public health chief Dr Paisal Thanyawinichkul said.

With all the economic problems they have in UK after the voting and talking about leaving, they are never going to leave EU. Politic, new faces and the option changes. There must be a reason why no action taking yet. Just talks
This says it all
QuoteThe former UK shadow work and pensions secretary has added another twist to the already complex issue by vowing to block formal negotiations with EU leaders until the British government offers a second EU referendum or calls a general election to approve its final Brexit deal.

Funny, because Yesterday he says this in another newspaper

Nomits not a joke.

There is a whole world of news and information with just a few clicks of the mouse and I am afraid that TVF is nowhere in the top 500.
I get my main news from the BBC, my local papers, other forums etc which is of far more use to me.
I posted the link because you were complaining that it should have been there and it wasn't. Whose fault was that if it wasn't TVF. If you were really interested in the photo you could have done the same as I did. In fact I had already seen the OP on the BBC news website 5 hours earlier, saw the photo and read the text and passed on.
Your dont get it. . Its not a joke. TV wants to be the best news source, that why this invester Got it from George and was in the statement, but you Can google it, its just 5 to 6 click away with you mouse

Do you know how easy it is to find things on the internet using Google as a search engine?
Just for you but don't show anybody else.
5 or 6 clicks with my computer mouse and there it is complete with a story.
Well it seems like you do not understand, that making and publish a article with a Photo as main source, there is not there, is a bit funny. You do know TV wants to be the best News source for foreigner here in Thailand, so it should have some quality

And where is the Photograph

He say this blasts unlikely to impact on Thailand’s growth rate or GDP
I really don't understand this.
Its absolute great for Thailand, if the country is immune to this, other countries has problem when a tragic like this happens.
I understand that policymakers and economists, says the economy is expected to be barely scratched after a string of bombing and arson attacks, and the economy is immune to the bomb attacks and GDP growth is expected to outpace 3.3% forecast this year.
The government also says It's not necessary to launch any new measures to alleviate the impact of the attacks because tourists are sticking to their plans to visit Thailand, even as other article says the opposite.
I understand is necessary to keep up the good news, as Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said the blasts were unlikely to cause any drastic impact on the economy.
So the economic is immune from bad news, it seems like it.
Yesterdays baht retreated in the morning, when the marked opened, but turned firmer to 34.60 versus the greenback. The strongest since July last year.
Roong Sanguanruang, director of global markets analysis at Bank of Ayudhya, said the baht was Monday's best performer in Asia
My question is.Does this mean that after 11 bombs in Thailand, on very famous tourist destination, killing tourist, the world and the marked just want to buy more bath, as revenue from tourists accounts for 10% of GDP and contributed 2 percentage points to the 2.8% full-year GDP growth in 2015, because is a good investment right after a attack on tourists places in Thailand??
I hope somebody can enlighten me here, because i don't understand it
And then the yesterdays stock marked. the Thai shares also faced a wild ride. down first, but gain about 1.1% from the lost to marked close
I don't understand this...... or maybe some invisibly hands keep on helping Thailand.. i don't know

What could possibly go wrong?
Nothing it seems. Even the GDP Gross domestic product rose 3.5% year-on-year in the second quarter this year, compared with 3.2% in the first quarter, with growth in the first half of 2016 at 3.4%, so maybe this is a part of it about SET index is up

We all may end up eating our words if the figures from the Stock Exchange of Thailand are anything to go by.
This morning the SET is showing that Thai investors are not overly concerned by the weekend bombings. After an expected shaky start at opening, they are proving quite resilient, having the SET (at the close of the morning session) up 5.31points above its closing value last Thursday.
By comparison, the day after the Erawan bombing last year, the SET fell 36.13 points, and then a further 64.55 points a few days later!
Yes i agree. I must admit im a bit surprised. The SET Index is raised 1.1% in a few hours. So the world don't see any problem. The bath is up 0.2% btw

Luckily the Hotels Association usually tells it like it is and that trumps the BS from Popcorn and Co.
As ever, and I include a couple of friends who have small restaurant / bar businesses , the refrain is " so where are all these tourists then ? " but the Minister and TAT still produce ever increasing figures.
They tourist is coming, but Chinese and Asean members there don't use many money. I was reading analyze of Thailand economy for some weeks ago, and in the conclusion was if is was not for the public spending and Tourists the grow GDP in Thailand will only be 0.6%.
So if the only positive figures of tourist going down it will hurt the economy hard and the elite in thailand
Of course i understand why the positive spin it needed to keep the tourist dollar to come, but indeed also why the exchange rate has to be like it is, because of the fewer high spending tourist

I was in Bali right after the first bombing. In Phuket within a month of the Tsunami. In Egypt just after the riots started. Actually saw the protests in Tahrir Square. I was there and so were other determined travelers. But these places were practically ghost towns. And for good reasons.
It doesn't matter what one person says. Hotel occupancy rates will tell the true story. Sadly, not this government.
I'm agree. I should had writing more. 1.class Propaganda starts in all medias, to be sure this will be forgotten very fast. All the positive article is popping up everywhere and explained

QuoteDavid said he planned to visit the North today and then travel to the South despite the bombings.
He added that he was not worried about the unrest because he had witnessed political turmoil in Thailand before.
Now on his second visit to the Kingdom, David said he was used to the unrest after first visiting in 2006 when a military coup overthrew the elected government of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Despite the coup, he said, he still enjoyed travelling in the country 10 years ago. -

It is no surprise that Thai authorities go out of their way to rule out Malay-Muslim separatists as potential perpetrators of the string of bombs in the upper south on 10-12 August. It is after all what they always do.
A story with title - Bombs, facts, and myths in southern Thailand And Truth shouldn’t also be a casualty after Thailand’s 10-12 August bombings.

Maybe not for ever Max, but at least for as long as the Thais are prepared to accept it. In Thailand, the 1% of people who choose not to play by the rules are the same 1% who insist that the 99% should do... That gives the 1% a natural advantage, which the carefully created Thai culture of compliance and not rocking the boat exacerbates.

I agree not forever, but suddenly a more difficult time. Interesting article in the UK newspaper Independent http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/thailand-votes-by-public-referendum-to-make-its-government-even-less-accountable-to-the-people-a7177526.html
