  1. Back in the 90's I was fortunate to work with the most brilliant minds in the PC industry at that time, including the guy the authored the "plug & play" bios code. Unanimously, they said it is impossible for someone to gain access unless you click on an executable file, or you give them information. Opening an email will not do it, but if you click on an unknown link in that email it could launch a code into your computer.  Today, I ignore all unknown call numbers (including the Lazada and Shopee people telling me my package arrived.).

Here is what Bangkok Bank have told me:

    • If you transfer more than one million abroad, you need to go to the branch with paperwork (source of funds) and those have to be approved centrally (so this may take a few hours to complete because of the central approval step).
    • If you transfer less than one million it is “personal expenses” and you can do this yourself via iBanking (desktop), though not mBanking (phone app).

I have the mBanking app and I do not see an option to do international transfers.

I also have iBanking and here I do have an option to do a new international transfer, but it require that you first add the account you want to transfer money to, then wait 1-2 days for Bangkok Bank to approve it, and now you can do transfers to this account.

I did add my home country bank account and if I select “New Intl. Transfer”. My transfer limit is stated in foreign currency, but it amounts to just short of 1.5 million THB, so that might be the actual limit for what is considered “personal expenses”.

I have done one international transfer from Bangkok Bank, the fee was 1,250 baht and they gave me an exchange rate 0.75% below mid-market rate.

After reading this. I can confirm. Following your instructions, I set up an international account in iBanking. That took 2 days for approval. Receiving account directly to Schwab CitiBank acct., (then forwarded to my name). Approved. I will test a small transfer first before sending the rest.

While doing this, I discovered a previous international bank account I set up over 13 years ago to a small U.S. credit union (which only has ACH number). This acct. only has my name on it. So, now I have 2 approved accounts.

In the BB mobile app, it appears you can do international transfers. Bottom right corner of the app "more services". International transfers are located there. However, the "personal expense" app limit says 1 million bht, while iBanking says 40,000USD which is about 1.4 million bht.

    No they are not.

Attached list of CW first NON-O requirements which I got from them.

Bank book copy - Vientiane doesn't care. They only want certified letter from the bank. L.A. embassy wants to see bank records but doesn't ask for certified statement.

Copy of rental agreement - Vientiane doesn't care. L.A. embassy doesn't care.

Evidence of fund being transferred from overseas. Both Vientiane and L.A. embassy don't care.

I was denied an extension based on retirement at CW after working here a long time on Non-B and told I must re-enter Thailand on "exempt" or VISA and start the process over. For an extension, the only option is to apply in Thailand, as far as I know.

    Why.

Vientiane require an appointment added fact is that OP asked specific question.

    Have  a read.

Vientiane only wanted a certified bank letter and copy of passbook. CW requirements were far more extensive.  Even Los Angeles embassy only asks for local bank evidence. As someone who worked in Thailand for 20 years, I could not meet the CW requirements as my money was earned in Thailand. The OP is looking for solutions without a bank account. Just offering my experience. Vientiane appointment was easy and I was in and out of the embassy in 5 minutes.

  5. I had my root canal and crown done at Dental Hospital Bangkok near On Nut. 7 Soi On Nut 1/1 (Sukhumvit 77), Phra Khanong Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110.

They do it all the same day because they make the crowns onsite. They drilled out the tooth, 1 hour later the crown was fitted and all done. Others have pointed out there are different types of crown materials. I was given "what they said" was the new best, and the total cost was far less than what you have quoted.  5 years now going strong.

  6. I was standing next to a well-dressed Indian man with a bag full of shopping at Central on the sky train today and I said, "Good luck with that." He took a minute to understand me, and then asked me how to avoid the water madness. I said, "Run, and don't leave your room next time."

  7. Both chemical peel and laser peel have risks. My friends who have done it were very happy with the results. As for the cost in Thailand, ask the clinics around. And make very sure they are very qualified.

The expiry date of the eVisa is the date till which you can use that Visa to enter Thailand. When showing that Visa on entry you will then be stamped in by Thai border immigration for the 90 days Permission to stay that Non Imm O Visa provides you.

So in this case the OP should NOT show the eVisa to the border-immigration officer when he enters Thailand, and that will  provide him with a 30 day Visa Exempt Permission to stay stamp in his passport.  He can then after the 1 week he plans to stay in Thailand head for Phillipines, and after the 1 month he plans to stay there, on his return to Thailand THEN show the eVisa which will provide him with a 90 days Permission to stay for that Non Imm -O Visa.

OP only needs to take heed of the expiry date of his eVisa and that he should not let it expire before he plans to re-enter Thailand from the Phillipines.

Great answer. And it creates a question: If he had physically received a Visa at an embassy and has the Visa label entered in the passport. Would this situation be different? This Visa label has an expiration date on it. In other words, if he entered the country 15 days before expiration, the stamped expiration date still holds true and not pushed out 90 days based on date of entry?

  9. I had a frozen shoulder which cause me great pain when lifting my arm more than 90 degrees. I had the surgery at Bumrungrad hospital. I watched all the Youtube videos on how to solve your own shoulder problems. Waste of time. My shoulder is back to normal. I wish you the best.

    Such as?

Example: Evidence of funds must show transferred from overseas. Copies of rental agreement. Copy of landlord tabien baan. Hand drawn map of where you live, etc., etc.  These are a few of what is never listed on "official" websites. It depends on the specific immigration office. It is a good idea to contact the local office and know what they want before you get there.

I live in Laos and am considering a change to Thailand.  I've looked at the requirements for a Non-O, 90-day visa at the Embassy in Vientiane, near where I live.

I had similar questions and tried the Vientiane consulate phone number and no one ever answered from 3 days of trying. Then I emailed them here and they replied within the hour:

    consular.vte(at)mfa.go.th

Beware of hidden requirements not posted on the websites.

But the money IS being seasoned....just using two accounts with one of them always having the required amount.  Yes, you will have to provide two lots of statements, but that is all.

I have the same problem. Money stretched across a few accounts. Not sure how each office will deal with that. However, I can say for sure that some IO's will not accept money in fixed accounts. The money needs to be accessible at all times. If it is a fixed account where you cannot get your money until the expiration, immigration may not approve you. These are the rules in Bangkok's CW office. The author needs to check the local requirements.

When I sell my property in England which is currently going through, my plan was to send about 1 million baht to the Fixed Deposit Account by way of telegraphic transfer and leave it there for the required period in order to get my 1 year extension of stay.

However upon recently visiting a branch of SCB in Khon Kaen I told by one of their English speaking staff of my intention and she told me that it is not possible to transfer money into that account telegraphically and that the money will need to be sent to the savings account and then transferred over to the Fixed Deposit Account by doing a personal visit.

SCB told me the same thing. Cannot wire to a fixed account. You can wire it to your savings account. But your bigger problem is that the money hasn't been seasoned long enough. Check the requirements for extension at your local IO. Bangkok's CW wants to see a 1 year bank statement showing you had the full fund amount "x" months after your last VISA was issued and "x" months before your extension request.
