there's one of these recycling places right next to a small hotel near where i live. i always though it might be dodgy...

sure, thailand can be expensive but it doesnt have to be. my mate insists on eating at restaurants along sukhumvit where the food is less delicious and much more expensive than that available 10 minutes away where i live. you can find a good quality apartment at a reasonable price no problem. i guess if you want to spend your time in bars and need to pay for a lady to pretend she cares about you then you will find the thailand expensive. open your eyes.

if nothing else works out you can send me a usb and list of movies - i will download from TPB. just message me. do it all the time for my sister.

ordered some expensive frames from an optician (because they weren't in stock...) they would arrive next week. a bit of a hike to the shop but i thought it was worth it as the optician spoke good english and we had a clear agreement. went back as agreed the next week, he seemed surprised to see me and of course... mai mee. no reason why. no apology. i guess they just hadn't bothered to order them. i bought some cheaper ones from another shop.

completely missing the point. there have to be some smart, logical, educated, capable people in thailand... some people who actually care and want to do something about the carnage on the roads... but where are they?!

do tourists really come here specifically for songkran? or do they just happen to be here during songkran? before i lived here i had no idea about songkran. is songkran really that widely known about outside thailand?

Yep...... but once again the festival fun will be overshadowed by the fools in parliament.
Thai culture, like nostalgia, just ain't what it used to be.
nah, as usual the festival 'fun' will be overshadowed by the morons on the streets

1998 packed in my job in my mid thirties and travelled around the world for two and a half years. best thing i ever did. discovered a wonderful thing called 'freedom'.

in the vast majority of cases it means they want money from you
in my experience any girl who has a decent or semi-decent job never says this. it is a warning sign that a girl is after the easy ride and probably not prepared to work and is probably lazy. there are of course exceptions but i have and would avoid any girl who says this.

was the item of clothing vastly different to what she usually wears? or different to what thai girls of similar background to your gf wear?
thai's love to play the thai culture card to suit their purpose; thai lady never have sex before marriage, thai lady not have baby if not married, thai lady not hold hands with man, thai lady not free sex (whatever free sex is?!) and so on... the task you have is to work out what is actually going on in her head. good luck with that.

'Over 30 activists submitted a petition to the agency to call for a strict enforcement of the Alcohol Control Act in a bid to reduce mortality rates during the holiday.'
crikey, there are more than 30 people in thailand who care enough about drunk driving to do something about it. quite a result.

Best Beaches in the World 2014: TripAdvisor Announces Top Destinations
Here is the complete list of the top ten beaches for 2014:
1. Baia do Sancho, Fernando de Noronha, Brazil
2. Grace Bay, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
3. Flamenco Beach, Culebra, Puerto Rico
4. Rabbit Beach, Lampedusa, Italy
5. Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island, Australia
6. Playa de ses Illetes, Formentera, Spain
7. Anse Lazio, Praslin Island, Seychelles
8. Lanikai Beach, Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii
9. Rhossili Bay, Swansea, Wales
10. Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres, Mexico
Does tripadvisor actually go to these places or Tourism Authorities just send in photos. I have never seen a Thai beach look so pure and pristine as those on the website. Absolutely no dog, rubbish or the cluttering of deck chairs.
TripAdvisor has zero credibility. Anyone can log in using any of a 100 or more pseudonyms and proceed to promote or discredit and service or facility that they choose.
If all the staff at TAT logged in using various false identities, they could readily promote all of Thailand's beaches into the top places...!!
It would be better if they did straw polls in all of these countries, the results would be hugely different.
'If all the staff at TAT logged in using various false identities, they could readily promote all of Thailand's beaches into the top places...!!'
yea, but that assumes a certain level of 'smartness'...

i was in thailand in the mind 1990's and stayed on some fabulous beaches. i never see beaches like that in thailand nowadays.
if these thai beaches rate so high i think it says more about the lack of quality beaches elsewhere asia.
my sister lives in north of sydney, as you drive along that coast you pass beach after beach that knocks anything thailand has right out of the water. (pun intended)
if only the thai's could see the benefit of taking care of their beaches. but they dont.

i asked the gf she replied; There are 3 brands. Baigon, shanedrive and shieldtox. shieldtox is the most popular.

given that most thai women look younger than they are she's probably about 50!

you get the first 24 hours of an overstay free - but after two days you pay 1000 baht - i overstayed by 12 hours last month, the officer wrote 'overstay less then 24 hours' next to the departure stamp in my passport. that's it.

if its real its daft
if its a joke it's just not funny... unless i'm missing something...

bit hot for walking around bangkok at the moment
-
it takes quite a few thai men to beat up a monk...
could you imagine a priest being beaten up on the street in your country?
people talk about how respectful thai's are...

yea, there were some guys up bamboo ladders messing around with the electricity cables near my place the other day. didnt appear to be there in any official capacity, had basic tools and no safety equipment. they lived to tell the tale and the power stayed on. they might not be so lucky next time.
