Because hotels are designed, built and staffed for that purpose, condos are meant to be used for long term living, they are not serviced, they do not have the staff or amenities suitable for short term guests, all of the condo owners pay a yearly service fee for those amenities and staff, which is based on the m2 of the condo unit, why should the majority subsidise and let the minority take advantage so that they can make short term rents and profits ?
But what if the developper has an hotel license ?

The law is clear and has been for years. No rentals under 30 days it's illegal. My condo enforced this years ago and allows only 3 months + and I voted for it at our AGM. Why? because I don't want tons strangers in and out, I don't want condo staff used for this, I don't want tons of short stayers in the pool and for security reasons.
But what if the developper has an hotel license ?!

Farang thieves do go on holiday..BUT, where they come from they are probably used to a police warning and sent on their way..
Well they ain't in farangland, so stick them in prison for a few days sucking fish heads, then wish them bon- voyage with a wai.......
in farang land...they are responsible ( ouh wait what is that word?) for their lost...they do not let an iphone unattended then "complain" that it has been "stealed". (the consequence)

I don´t get it. I was raised to react in a different way. If I found something laying like that, I would go and leave it at the reception. I thought that was common sense.
However, today we appearently heve grown ups in disguise of normal family travellers, that suddenly get a kick out of stealing.
Another thing that I for my life can´t get. Still nobody understands that there are cameras and webcams everywhere today. Stupidity out of enormuos proportions. As well as I don't get why we call that "stealing from a staff"....It looks like a "lost phone". The 1st person responsible ( ouh what a strange word in LOS) is the one who let the phone there!
Of course, it doesn't mean that the behaviour of the couple is good...- 1

the real reason is suspicion of working. Your references to Thai salaries are totally not connected to this BTW.
Oh yes.... If I m working illegally, I think I will have more chance to be able to show 20k than if i m working legally...don't you think ?! So this doesn't make any sens...

keep trying to skirt the rules and live here with little or no money
Really ?
So it s ok that the locals "live here with little or no money" but foreigner coming on Holiday should show 20 000thb ?! I don't get it...
How thai people can "look after themselves" with a (offical) minimum salary of 9000thb/ month, while a Tourist should have more than 20 000thb no matter the lenght of his stay ?! This reason is a fake reason. The reality is probably that those who give a tip to the MCT ( Money Collection Team) won't have any problem to enter the country... -
Yeah...
If thai people were rising to have a better social security....oh no wait, this is so much more important ! -
<quote>The officer could only confirm that people entering Thailand on tourist visas should be able to show they can support their stay in the kingdom.</quote>
I wonder how thai people can support their own life with a minimum salary of 9000thb ??!!! We should send them out of the country if they cannot show 20 000thb every month... ( joke)- 2

What about thai songs and video clips that show young girl dancing obscenely....where young people take inspiration ? Maybe it would be wise to look at the cause of it, where they took example from ?!

Here is his last post on his FB page : " I beg you all to please stop sharing my story. I am starting to get verbally attacked and many people talking so bad. I mean farang on some sites. Who ever started this whole thing tried to help but sadly I am so upset now. I just wanted to sell a few burgers and make people happy. Now I am like a prisoner. It's all too much. I don't think it's safer than Europe, where I currently live. I've lived in many countries, and in the Bronx, and the only place I've heard and seen gunshots is Thailand. My own weddings was cut short because of fights, people throwing tables, and the in-laws were fearing a gunfight.
I agree that I could be wrong on that one.

Where did I say that only farang drink and drive ?
You can get assistance for reading difficulties.
Here is a farang, who, because of his disdain of the law, has destroyed numerous lives, his own included.
Would he have done the same in Liverpool ? I very much doubt it.
What I mean is that there are also thai people driving reckless and drunk .... not only Farang...bad choice of words...not bad reading... Yes he would do the same in Liverpool, does Liverpool have drunk drivers ?! I think so...it s everywhere in the world that some people ( not only farang) break the laws...

I guess mathematics is not part of Thai Life ! ( still need a calculator for 57thb + 20thb....true story)

Maybe a message to the many other farangs who drink and drive over here, thinking, if I get caught, I'll pay a fine and walk away.
It would be an automatic jail sentence in the West.
Yeah you are right...only farang drink and drive...

Tourists should be required to have proper insurance coverage.
This would be "thievery". What about freedom ? Insurance are expensive, and has a lot of exception. They are the thieves!
The whole thing could be much more simple : if a patient can't pay. just send the bill to the right embassy who will follow up to the tourist in their own country...
The girl is actually lucky that she's got admitted....because if you can't pay, they won't take care of you...not like in our (my) country where they MUST take care of you even if you can't pay. ( they don't check that before anyway and if you can'tt they will find a way : monthly payement, or in 2-3 times).
I remember the story of a man, in Thailand, who lost two fingers. He came to the hospital with his two fingers in a bag with ice.
The doctors ask him which one he want back because he can't pay for both...
-
Of course, The Hospital has no right, and no power to hold their passport. This is the property of the foreign governement. (Here British)
Hospital has to give up the charge as they break the law...and could have more problem.
Does police knows the Thai law regarding paternity rights ?!
in Family and Children
Posted
I show the decision of the court that give me the paternity right over my daughter... But the policemen said
1. It s valid for 30 days.
2. I don't have a marriage certificate...
What a non sense ! The reason of paternity right is because we are not married.... Are they playing games ? Or they just don't want to give any rights to a foreigner ?
Is it normal that policemen talk in Thai and use the words: "man" or "gei" when talking about me ? This is really unprofessional !
