Not entirely clear reading that but assuming I have until Sept 26th to apply for a 60 day extension to my non-o multi entry that ran out on June 4th leaving me on amnesty.

If so gives me a little linger to prepare for a one year extension of stay which is useful.

I'm sure you'll get stuffed some other way. What a Joke people getting an amnesty if they went through the Visa Process. They're All heart......

Just interesting, what is name of that paradise island ?

Kyrenia North Cyprus. It's a Haven for foreigners especially Americans and people from the UK. No coronavirus practically zero crime and less expensive than Thailand. Even if it was expensive I would still live here beautiful beaches restaurants and lovely woman. Our company will soon buy lots of places in Thailand but I'm still not interested to live there permanently.

yes please, it can only get better...

Thailand is no longer one fantastic privilege place to visit or stay. For the 10 years I lived in Thailand the constant conversation on TV was about overstayers. If you happened to be one, it was a fate worse than death. Thailand as far as I'm concerned is no big deal. To implement restrictions for this and that just gets on my nerves. I do agree it's personal choice and 3 months per year on business trips is enough for me. Now Living on a beautiful island, without all that visa <deleted> and women in abundance. I believe I have found my Nirvana. I like occasionally making the odd comments on TV and reading other expats day-to-day experiences. I hate confrontational comments from eejit's  as if we have to abide by all rules and regulations implemented on tourists at the drop of a hat. Rant over have a nice day ......

  4. Hopefully, the international flights will start again soon. All my Teelak's are getting impatient telling me, they love me only, and would never go with anybody else. So I just keep sending them Western unions to secure our true love relationships. The sooner I get back to Thailand the Better. I can save myself a fortune.

    Life's a bitch........

  5. I remember my first kiss in Thailand. It cost officially 5,000 Thai baht. Me being a New Kid On The Block (Numpty). This, when Sterling was very strong and seemed like peanuts to me. Being lets say' somewhat inebriated, I couldn't even rise for the occasion. Buying two packets of seemingly powerful aphrodisiac tablets of cialis (1,000 per tab) later realised both packets where empty, so had to add on another 4,000 Thai baht to my exclusive night of Thai Love. This beautiful young woman must have taken Umbridge for my non-performance, because she then stripped my pockets of another £600 or so. Thus, once I had fallen asleep with my new love into a drunken stupor. This is why I can remember my first kiss in Thailand.....

That is actually good news. The spreading is not exploding the same way as in northern countries. It is the hot&humid&UV lowering the R0 down.

yes and my uncle has an elephant that does the backstroke. Is places like Iran not a hot country yet seen to have have have a lot more or Corona virus cases even though seemingly not even reporting to the full extent. Countries around the world are giving free tests unlike Thailand and personally I think that's disgusting considering many people could never afford to have the test

What does this even mean? He was snitched on. That’s how immigration suspected he was on overstay. What on god’s green earth does a waste-of-money BMW have to do with it? Other than the fact that the immigration officers could have been driving a tuk tuk and it would have made zero difference to the outcome.

Why not hunt them down on horseback? We have all the problems in the world. But we must Focus attention on over stairs as this seems to be worse than the Corona virus. According too to the Thai police

It's sad, granted. However we don't know the circumstances. Of course for the family it's always going to be bad, no matter what, BUT:

Some people (I am not saying this is what happened here either, just saying it is a very strong possibility) think they can behave the same way as back home, or even than their usual environment.

It's hard enough to adjust to imprisonment of any kind in your home country and culture, if you've never been, and even worse when in a foreign country, in a completely mixed cultural environment, where the barbarians (call me racist, see if I care, I am refering specifically to the types of animals listed as being imprisoned there on TOP of being from countries where the low lives are even more prone to violence and such) make up the vast majority of people.

Now if they don't manage to adjust well, and then start spouting stuff like "I'm an American, you can't talk to me like that, I know my freedumbz (yes, I AM aware that it is spelled "freedoms" and muh rightz, yeeehaw keyuck keyuck!" and stuff like that, the excrements could very quickly hit the proverbial fan. Esp. with the "death to the infidel!" crowd, that was supposedly in that jail. His nationality alone could have been enough to make him a potential target, coupled with a few stupid, stereotypical outbursts and you got yourself a very toxic and potentially deadly cocktail.

None of this makes what happened okay. However anyone who travels to places like Thailand, and is unaware what prisons, detention centers and the government's view on "muh freedumbz/muh rights" is, and then on top off that overstays his visa, or whatever else to get himself deported, then they are just asking to be nominated for the Darwin Award.

I'm sorry, but let's be real... Personally I am quick to anger, and I have a hard time not to scrap with people who are begging for it. However, I made sure to REALLY keep a lid on my usual impulses while in Thailand. Because before I went there, I looked into certain things and talked to friends and acquaintances who'd been there. I learned, that Thais don't like foreigners fighting and making a nuisance, and that even if you're just defending yourself, there's still a good chance of having 20 people kick your head in.

So when I.e. some drunk (probably drugged up) idiot was getting all aggressive with me when I asked him if he ever found an open club (as in discothek, not "Boom Boom" "Club") - I had overheard him earlier asking the waiter and other people at the restaurant I was eating at, about 20 minutes earlier -, and would continue to be that way even when I tried to calm him down, I chose to say "ok, man. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, you have a good night.", and simply walk off to my bike... Now back home, different story. But I wasn't back home. So I behaved accordingly.

If someone manages to get himself into a place like that, they're obviously not smart in the first place. I won't accuse the guy of starting <deleted> either, but I do have a hard time of believing that he was attacked and beaten like that for no reason. Yes, sometimes you just get into <deleted> in a lock-up environment for no real reason (or for something you didn't even realize you were doing, if you're a first timer)... but unless everyone is having a REALLY <deleted>ty day, because ie the COs have been <deleted> with them, someone stole their commissary, priviledges were revoked, they just got out of isolation, etc. it usually doesn't happen for no reason either.

And of course this British "gentleman" is going to leave that stuff out, to make it seem as that could happen to anyone, who finds himself in there. And how he is soo traumatized by this seemingly random, yet brutal and deadly act of violence, to a) cash in on his sob story and victimhood and b) maybe try and cash in on ptsd related benefits from the UK goverment (i.e. some bs law suit for them not helping him out of there, or claiming not being able to work due to the immense trauma, scared to go out, etc. and thus benefit scrounging even harder)....

So yes, while the story is about a sad death, it is ALSO a story about a lowlife (probably chav) scumbag, who is trying to make a quick buck with it and can't really be considered a credible source.

Sorry, I tend to write too much, rant sometimes, and also I can be all over the place. My mind works too fast for my own good, sometimes ????

You need to understand to err in here is a catastrophe as far as the armchair detectives are concerned, who have all the time in the world, waiting for some simpleton to make a mistake. Forget murder, people dying, tragic loss of life. The star prize for any thaivisa member is to attack and Destroy anyone seen to or actually committing the serious act of overstaying. This is the crux of the action  where hell kicks in with the Wrath of the expat.  These usual somewhat dormant TV members, rear their ugly heads absolutely appalled that someone one dared to breach the expat Bible becoming an overstayer. Believe it or not the world outside Thailand have quite a few million immigrants in many other countries staying longer than they should. Forgot that somebody will say this is Thailand. Yes, we need to forget other commonalities with other places around the world, me forgetting that Thailand is the core centre of the world.

    Rant over.......

What he didn't state in the article are some of the other factors for the decline such as dual pricing, scams and just ripping off the tourists in general.

People will only take that crap for so long before ... so long.

    Totally agree.

Let's be honest this den of iniquity has always been a shithole for sex-pats and dregs of society. Vietnam has now set the presidence gaining all the time on Thailand where it's cleaner, safer, cheaper and scamming limited down to severe retribution if anyone is caught. Thailand is no longer that cheap Paradise and exports are screwed by the strong Baht. The place is dying on its feet and visas etc are a nightmare in certain instances. Dengue fever is also a put off. I now live on a beautiful island and live is so much easier and only visit Thailand for business now.......

. . . . when it does a perfectly decent job all by itself.

In Paramsam a delectable little cafe served my kids and I chicken fried rice. I thought my imagination had ran riot when I noticed maggets crawling off my plate. Having summoned the MasterChef now maggets happily playing on the table, looked at me with that expression of 'what's the big deal' then quickly what seemed to be cleaning her fingers on her grubby apron, run her fat chubby digits through our food proclaiming everything was fine now. At the time the food was very cheap no more than no more than 50 baht each not charging us for extra protein.

I left in disgust bet Hey' thats Thailand.........

I am currently in a 1st world country where they actually obey zebra crossings .

    They stop for pedestrians.

    Plus no motorbikes on pavements.

They don't say Thailand has the most dangerous roads in the world for Nothing !!! Killing people walking across Zebra crossings in civilized countries could get you a very lengthy prison sentence.

Maybe the Police should put their foot down .... maybe those are the wrong words ...
