    Literally the dumbest sh!t I've heard yet coming out of Thailand.

    Have no fear gents, as I am planning a nice little native style party resort in the Philippines.

    You'll be glad you know you can stay, drink, play all kinds of games, hang out with the girls and even engage in other touristy activities, if you so choose, without all this nonsense. For much lower cost too.

    We won't even PRETEND to be a world class destination as Thailand likes to do..

    Lol

    Reference to Tiddly Winks is another deadly game that could be construed as racist besides the odd gamble of sweets ..................... :passifier:

    It's difficult to comprehend why he hasn't received Thai citizenship yet as he obviously is well integrated and has adopted a lot of typical male Thai behavior:

    the self-loathing;

    the insecurity;

    the child-like immaturity

    the emotional instability;

    the cringe-worthy servility;

    the nationalistic undertones in what he said;

    the whiny voice (although spoken in perfect pitch; although he should work on his r's)

    And I bet he's a bad driver, too.

    But on a more serious note: Has he actually ever tried to apply for Thai citizenship? Several posters have correctly pointed out that it is in fact possible to attain. With him having lived in the country for so long, speaking the language so flawlessly, having adopted so many traits and having integrated so well, I don't see why it shouldn't be granted. Unfortunately, the article gives no details.

    And if he has attempted it, it would be interesting to know on what reasonable grounds his application was turned down by the Interior Ministry reviewing panel.

    Probably, because he wasn't thick enough but even that's doubtful lol ............

    I think the saliva has to enter the bloodstream, ie through a bite. It can be transmitted by infected saliva entering the mouth or eyes, but apparently very rare.

    Unless, they're those over the top doggy types who kiss their dogs constantly, who's dogs in return lick their faces after laying about having just cleaned their nuts etc...............

    Maybe you could start with Google and look up rabies virus, transmission characteristics, then maybe a dictionary definition of epidemic. And perhaps you could finish by looking at the official rabies figures from the Thai epidemiology Department for the last 30 years. That'll keep you busy for a while. :)

    Thanks for that explanation I'm over come with emotion your so kind ..................

    I know that this thread will soon feature many people talking about abuse of the immigration system and how they should all be thrown out of the country. Fine.

    A few years back, before I hit 50 years old, I had an ED visa and it was great! I went to my classes and got a firm, if not solid, foundation in the Thai language and greatly expanded my knowledge of Thai culture. I also was able to stay in the country, paying rent and spending money while taking absolutely nothing from a Thai person.

    Yes, the ED visa has been abused; no one would argue that. But, it was also a good thing sometimes.

    I really need to talk better Thai. My 2 kids in Laos can only say' Me no speak Engrish..... haha

    as the rabies infection is out of control,can anyone answer this,if a mosquito feeds on the blood of a rabid dog or cat,can this be passed on with a bite to a human being.
    thinking about what about ticks aswell.

    It is simply not accurate to say that rabies is out of control.

    I wrote that reply thinking about the pound, after I posted it I realised it was referring to the USD and not the pound. I guess we're used to thinking in the currency of our home country.

    You do have a point though....

    Forgive me if I'm wrong. However, I seem to remember 89/90's but I'm sure some UK guy will put me right. I vaguely remember the price of sex was a mere bagatelle hahaha

    Right, how about this then, the Baht is the strongest it's been for 20 years :

    I remember being here at the time when the exchange rate was 75 Baht to the pound.

    It helps to mention which currency you're talking about when discussing exchange rates.....

    My friend, you know me quite well and agree on most subjects for many a year. Although, I think I remember 2005-2007 Thai baht against the pound was nearly or more in the 80's but knowing the mentality of TV members - I'm now openly and dutifully under attack .........................:passifier:

    Whoa there Neddy...

    Thailand can be whatever you want it to be.

    I ain’t rich, and not poor, but I do exactly the same here as I would at my home country.

    We have a nice house, go out and eat at decent restaurants, 2 cars, only 1 at home though, even holidaying here is easier, just get in the car, instead of flying for 12 hours.

    To me, it’s no different apart from being warmer than the UK...I don’t think the exchange rate will change my mind that much from living here, but if it does nose-dive...adios, but I can’t see that happening.?.

    The UK is hardly paradise itself, I feel more like an outsider there, than here.

    I live all around the Planet.Not because I want to but because of my Job. I really like Thailand having lived there for over 10yrs. Although, strangely enough never ever got on with expats who seem to think they're something spectacular and that got my goat - so to speak. Us Scottish get on with everyone and found this really peculiar ............

    That is one of the reason that you learn the local language if you choose to live there. Another good reason is that you can sort out things yourself and not be dependent of your wife/GF for the most simple things.

    Of course.
    However, don't wish to start an elongated debate although I ain't no  Mother Theresa candidate either. Life's a Bitch then you Die ..........:passifier:
