Man Held For Killing British-Thai Youth Over Drug Deal
kennw replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Look at what we know so far. Male dead, 16yr girl missing the accused is a convicted sex offender, He says drugs are involved, BUT this sounds like the usual made-up excuse rather than admitting self is wrong. I hope not but I suspect they will discover a second death. -
I also live in a condominium and for many years have had two landlines TOT now called NT plc. Both lines stopped working so I complained, they said the problem is in your condo building get the technician there to fix it. I replied I pay you so you fix it. Our technician fixed the problem only for it to happen again. Repeat the process and fixed again. The root of the problem is apparently that TOT/PP own the external lines but not the lines inside the condo and management demand that TOT/NP pay a service fee to use the internal lines. Due to the hassle I decide to cancel one of my land lines and took the original receipt for Baht 3000 deposit (security deposit in case of non payment). At first they told me "this is the installation fee" I stood firm and eventually they agreed to return my money but am still waiting 6 weeks already. Stand firm with them.

The bad actors in Thailand’s cannabis industry
kennw replied to george's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
Why dont you just say only pot produced in Thailand can be sold here, but why stop there? why not every product sold here can only be sold if made in Thailand and even then the two tier pricing will apply, and alcohol will be banned so that every sinner must use pot, And no limits on pot daily sale time such as there are on alcohol. -
After several bad experiences with Shoppee (wrong items delivered, not as advertised, blocked on chat) Have blocked them now and will never use them again

The main problem is motor bike riders themselves, the way many of them abuse the road laws, it's only a matter of time.
-
But mostly motor bikes, if you are going to ride one make sure you have adequate insurance. Common sense.

Thai man fined and sentenced to prison over craft beer review
kennw replied to snoop1130's topic in Central Thailand News
Get rid of them or make them consistent for example "Pot can only be sold during the same times that alcohol can be sold", lets see how the politician pushing Pot would handle that one. -
Transwoman fined for dancing naked on Bang Saen Beach
kennw replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Sometimes some of the trans bring it upon themselves and bring discredit to others who have genuine need. The current reported even is a case in point. -
Complain is ok but also have some sympathy for the less well off Thai's who live in rented apartment and rooms. The landlords regularly charge them 8 to 10 baht /kWh not the MEA rate of 3.2 baht/kWh even though their monthly usage is less than 150 units. It's an illegal practice but no enforcement TIT .

And good luck for even trying to get health insurance at that age. Most dont want to know you the rest want an arm and a leg, circa B15,000/month

Govt Urges Public Assistance in Tackling Air Pollution Issue
kennw replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
So the authorities want our assistance, they could start by establishing a hot line where people could text, email or phone in to report instances of pollution. The could start by making the trucks that exit a land clearing site at km 15 on Bang Na Trad highway, clean their wheel before entering the roadway. At times the dust cloud is like a fog, local residents and businesses are all covered in fine dust. Where is it again , opposite to the Thana City golf course entrance. Apparently the residents have complained many times but that area is Samut Prakan juristiction and the building site is operated by a major finance co/bank, developing a moo ban estate. -

Air Coolers, does it work ?(the one where you add water and ice)
kennw replied to renegade2000's topic in General Topics
These "coolers" work on an evaporative principle, trickle water over grid and blow air through the grid the air evaporates some of the water and cools itself in the process. The problem in Thailand is the humidity level is already high so very little evaporation of the water trickling over the grid takes place so very little cooling. However if you do use one open your doors and windows and keep a fresh supply of air blowing over the grid, otherwise the recirculated air will become fully saturated (100% humidity) and no cooling can take place. -
Bangkok taxi driver condemned for ripping off foreign tourists
kennw replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Never changes? Correct. Aussie guy 4 years ago wanted to move from a hotel corners of Sukhumvit and Asoke to NaNa, about 1 km taxi prices ranged from 600B down to 300, he tried 6 different taxis, ended up having to take the B300 because it was the cheapest.
