The move, which could block $1 billion in oil shipments per day, is likely to send oil prices soaring.
It will come into effect pending a final decision by Iran’s Supreme Council.
If anything good comes out of President Trump's mistake, it will be the end of the American people's support of Israel.
Do you really believe anything that Iran announces? Probably more likely the opposite will be the reality. Iran is Trump x100 when it comes to spewing garbage. I just ignore what the latter vomits and look at his actions and results. As of today I think Trump is doing OK and Iran's leadership are terrible humans.

This so-called deal with China is astonishingly short on details and we all know why that is. Apparently it amounts to allowing Chinese students to study in the US in exchange for China doling out a few rare earth minerals here and there. China always had the upper hand in this, as the US overreached and they desperately need these minerals.
Let’s be honest—this isn’t a trade “deal,” it’s a tactical climbdown. The U.S. just ate a hefty serving of humble pie, and China served it cold.
Beijing has exposed a core vulnerability in American strategy: economic and industrial dependence. Rare earths aren’t just commodities—they’re the backbone of U.S. defence systems, AI, and semiconductors. China controls the global refining chain, and this “deal” simply buys time—it doesn’t change the leverage.
The implications for Taiwan are stark. Despite relying on TSMC chips to power its military edge, the U.S. is structurally handcuffed. You can’t credibly defend a democratic ally when your missiles, radars, and drones need components processed in the aggressor’s country. Trump’s rhetoric may be loud, but his actions will be limited—he won’t jeopardise Wall Street, the tech sector, or midterm optics to defend Taiwan.
On social media, Trump declared: “WE ARE GETTING A TOTAL OF 55% TARIFFS, CHINA IS GETTING 10%. RELATIONSHIP IS EXCELLENT!” But a White House official, who was not authorized to discuss the terms publicly and insisted on anonymity to describe them, said the 55% was not an increase on the previous 30% tariff on China because Trump was including pre-existing tariffs, including some left over from his first term.
“We have no idea what the rules are,″ said Rick Woldenberg, CEO of the educational toy company Learning Resources, who is part of a lawsuit challenging Trump’s authority to impose the tariffs. “The U.S. found it needed to back off the restrictions it had thought would generate leverage,” he said, “and in exchange, they get merely a promise by the Chinese to dole out critical minerals a bit more quickly.”
Veronique de Rugy, senior research fellow at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center, dismissed the London truce as “a handshake deal … It can change at any time.”
Let's be honest - you don't have a clue what the deal entails and neither do I. Do you have inside info that the rest of don't have? The Chinese aren't talking and Trump's ramblings about the deal can't be taken seriously.
If I had to guess, the deal will include substantial tariff increases (20% higher than when Trump took office) and a relaxing of Chinas rare mineral exports. The USA will pivot away from needing China's rare minerals over the next few years and China will fall from the top trading partner it was just a year ago to out of the top 3. This isn't going to end well for China and the USA will suffer in short term. This is my big guess 🙂

Really? You can't actually believe this nonsense. We can't question the government during health care emergencies and even question if it is an emergency which Covid was not IMO?
What type of fragile person feels that governments should control our lives when they decide there is an emergency? Reality check governments have and will do terrible things. The liberals back a few decades were non-conformists and now they get wet over being told what to do.

You're obviously one of these people that has no idea about cannabis use.
Oh well...
Should we ban alcohol too?
I am or was and quit for personal reason about a year ago. Cannabis is fine and better imbibed with edibles that even further reduce the inconvenience other may experience. Some really get agro over the smell of weed and it is their right.
THe main issue have with weed is ease of use and how prolific it has become in daily life for smokers. Could you imagine if you replaced joints with a fifth of alchohol. All the young crowd constantly out in public sipping at work and all around town. Pot is IMO better than alchohol when you compare casual drinkers but many weed users have become chronic smokers and this is disturbing. Some can do it with no consequences but people are foolish to think most don't suffer in some manner.
Long ramble and not sure what the answer is but the "it is better than alchohol" response certainly takes a little more reflection than your response above. BTW, alchohol is terrible for a person but I for one do enjoy it but try not to need it! Currently 1 week sober because the alchohol desire was too controlling and that always eventually causes me to take a break.

The vaccines were the reason why people stopped dying in the tens of thousands and why the economy was able to recover so quickly. Vaccinated people were less likely to be hospitalized and were able to recover faster than the unvaccinated. The healthcare systems were collapsing until the vaccine was introduced.
THe vaccines probably prevented millions of deaths but not 100% sure. We could have just locked down all old unhealthy people, diabetics, and obese while the rest of society lived a semi normal existance. Childhood obesity skyrocketed during the lockdown and hasn't stopped climbing. Lockdowns were terrible and weren't needed for this virus.
BTW, the global economy didn't recover quickly. Are you from the USA? Most the world has struggled since the Covid.

So here we are then, lads, watchin’ what used to be the big dog of the West, the land of bald eagles, blue jeans, and tosh about freedom, now lookin’ more like an old geezer shoutin’ at puffy clouds. After the war that ended in 1945, America was king of the hill, right? The birth of the Industrial Revolution, the middle class, space exploration, all that jazz. Now it’s just a punchline with nukes, like your drunk uncle who can’t even figure out how to scroll through TikTok videos, now tryin’ to DJ with 3 turntables at a wedding, talkin’ over the tunes and pressin’ all the wrong buttons.
Mates, then along comes Trump, turnin’ the Oval Office into a pound shop circus tent. Bloke’s idea of diplomacy is shoutin’ “FAKE NEWS” into a mirror and chuckin’ tariffs ‘round like confetti. You got Yanks with small businesses takin’ it up the wrong ’un, while he’s bangin’ on about how China’s “desperate” for a deal. Desperate? Mate, China’s plantin’ flags on the Moon and launchin’ satellites the size of toasters, while your lot’s still tryin’ to ban books about feelings and arguin’ over who invented soy milk.
Some mug at the gym yesterday, all stars and stripes on his singlet and a neck like a tree stump, tells me, “Trump’s bringin’ back strength. The world respects power, mate.” Power? Bruv, the only thing the world respects right now is noise-cancelling headphones to drown out your lot. America used to build futures. Now it’s buildin’ memes and tryin’ to pass ’em off as manifestos. One geezer even tells me, “Trump’s the last real man on the planet.” I said, “If that’s your benchmark, laddie, I’d hate to see who is in second place.”
And now the knock-on effect’s spreadin’. Canada’s swung complete center left, Australia’s gone full tradie nationalism, and all of it traces back to Trump fartin’ populism into the global aircon. Man’s like a political norovirus at the end of a wrecking ball. One sniff of him, and even your nan’s startin’ to blame immigrants for petrol prices. So much for the land of the free. These days, America’s just exceptional at makin’ a mess and pretendin’ its art.
So go ahead and stick a fork in your bloody pot pies, lads. The American Empire’s not just crumblin’. It’s already packed up its dignity and moved in to its mum's basement, again.
Maybe so but you are basing this off of what other than a stupid rant. Compared to most countries America has been killing it the last 15 years. The EU and GB have been in the toilet.
I do think Americas leaving the rest of the developed world in the dust over the last 15 years are numbered. Too much debt and Trump might be the final straw but maybe some of what Trump is doing will be beneficial. WTFK...

My knees have been feeling weak after resting for a year now. I was sent to do x ray and the doc concluded I have arthritis.
Weird because I have no pain, just weakness in legs after sitting or sleeping. Often the knee just has to "click" and it will be back to normal.
I asked ChatGPT and it said arthritis unlikely....more like crepitus.
Should I trust AI or Canadian doctors? AI also mentioned arthritis misdiagnosis can mage things worse by doing incorrect exercises.
I would go to 10 specialist for giggles if I had the extra funds to blow. You will get 10 different opinions and then you can randomly pick one. I have tons of experience doing the above until I realised they are just guessing most the time and are too busy to really dive into your specific issue. I have had them tell me the craziest things.
You have been resting for a year? That is a joke right? Start moving and improve your range of motion. Elliptical, rowing machine, walking... People are always looking for doctors/pharmacists to fix what we are perfectly capable of resolving our self most the time. Do you really think a doctor knows more about your body than you do? Definitely exceptions but I rely on myself first but realise there is a time and a place for a specialist.

And the squirt gun brigade of doogooders that sprayed those not wearing masks. I was running and got squirted by a very fat old lady that should have been home avoiding contact with people but she was clueless because nobody was allowed to state the obvious. The odds of dying were exponentially impacted by how unhealthy you were and many vaccine tyrants refused to discuss this obvious truth. Strange and disgusting times.

After some shouting, I saw the woman spraying their pet dog in the face with a high powered pressure wash. The man then came out and started beating it with a stick. They own 5 dogs that are left out all day in the 40 degrees sun.
At another house the road used to flood when it rained. The neighbor left their dog out in the flood for 3 days. It was locked out and wading up and down the road trying not to drown. Years of abuse. It died later that year.
How about you? Do witness animal abuse on a daily basis in your town?
The stick beating sounds excessive. Do you expect them to keep their dogs indoors with AC? When it floods our dogs are left outside also. They have no problem surviving. Weird post.

Bag of 4 dropped in our yard 3 years ago. I remember thinking the same. In the end we tried to feed them milk and tuna. We were clueless and 2 died the first 2 nights. The other two survived and the wife never had cats. She fell in love with them. One disappeared 2 months ago and surprised they lasted in the jungle that long.
Feed it and see what happens is my recommendation. The other cats may kill it or it survives.

In Thailand, the average household debt has reached a record high of 606,378 baht, up 8.4% from the previous year. This increase is primarily driven by rising living costs and slower economic growth. The average monthly debt payment is 18,787 baht, with a delinquency rate of 71.6%. So they are happy until payments are unable to be made and then they just default.
Was that a typo - 71.6% delinquency? 7.16% seems possible. The world just seems to add unfathomable debt with no real consequences since the financial crisis. I have given up trying to forecast the repercussions after being wrong for years.

No, that's not the case, you only think it is. Go about your business, accept that not everything in Thailand is going to meet your criteria of what is right and get on with it. With concerns like this you'll have a heart attack within weeks. Let it go man.
Agree, simply weird how some people get off deriding Thais and it is ironic in this case. He is insulted by Thais looking down on tourists smoking weed. He also compares two well dressed Thai business men to tourists smoking. One stands out a little more?
BTW, he will never let it go but will just store in his noggin with all the other petty things Thais do wrong. Whatever floats your boat I guess but seems like a pathetic life.

I've noticed about a 15% increase on most items since inflation reared its ugly head in late 2021. Not really that bad and amounts to about 3.5% compounded annually. Went to the USA and it seemed much more of an issue. Restaurants here are a little more expensive but in the USA it ridiculously expensive. In the end my spending hasn't gone up at all and am under budget 9 out of 10 months.

Iran orders closure of Strait of Hormuz — putting one-fifth of world’s oil supply at risk

That sucks for China which much of its oil going through the Strait. Not much of a factor for the USA. China will put pressure on them not close the straight and if they do probably won't last. What oil future prices doing? Think they are up 2% - yawn...
