  1. Im currently in Phuket and am converting to a work permit from retirement.

I understand I have to get the paperwork, go out and get the Imm B, lawyer is dealing with paperwork.

My questions are, where is the best place to get an Imm B without hassle, are there any agency runs

from Phuket and what are costs.

    Thanks for help.

    Do you mean agents?

Yes they are still around. Plenty adverts to be seen, if in the Pattaya area a walk down soi Buakhao will show some, or Google.

From an agents website just now..

No Funds  No Problem – We can Help you meet the requirements – we offer a postal service, simply post your documents to us & we will do the rest guaranteed!

That sounds like the Patts guy I have used before.

A url to my inbox would be appreciated, if you have time

    Thanks

i still have 3 months to go so i am not in a hurry. bahtsold has worked every time for me so far. sold 2 houses on it as well.

Yes, I put it on a free ad on that site. Previously sold my civic in 2 days on TV but their classifieds are down at the moment.

Will reduce price and put on featured this weekend, maybe better than free ad.

i have bought and sold many cars in thailand although i have had a work permit but i dont think that is necessary. you may just needs something other than a 30 day visa. can get some great deals on second hand cars off foreigners who are leaving thailand. like me for example, i am selling my mitsubishi triton pickup half price of a new one and only 3 years old. thai visa and bahtsold websites have many options.

Selling my Ford Escape, leaving at end of month so bargain to be had!

You got there first though 5555

At least Gatwick is near the airport,I'm out of here in a couple of months anyway just came to spend time with my ageing parents,.
Probably going to give Cambo and Vietnam a year or two to try them out,Thailand's a pain right now with visa rules constantly changing and the Philippines, well that's another story altogether with what is happening now, such a shame as I love the place and especially the people! :(

I agree about Thailand and the general population, I am seriously going to miss many Thai friends and my lifestyle here.

I suppose I have just become jaded with the so called powers that be and their transparent lack of intellect, forcing the populace into submission through  subliminal threats.

It really is weird here  the good, old British summer. One day it is 25 even up to 30 degrees and like the Mediterranean as it's supposed to be for the next three days or so I think? Then it's winter again cold ,wet and miserable I honestly don't know anywhere else in the World where the weather is just so poor!
Even as you fly into Britain and cross the English Channel you can see a thick,low-lying cloud formation covering the whole island, despite central Europe being absolutely cloud-free and beautiful sunshine all summer!
(It's my first one for 16 years and probably the last one ever, there really is nothing here for me or anyone that knows better!)

I built my business in the south, near Gatwick and lived 3 days ( sometimes 4 or 5!) in my Spanish place.

I have a small portfolio of properties in Spain so will use the sol as a more agreeable living place whilst I decide.

I do prefer tropical climates so South America/ South East Asia are my favourite places.

In the meantime I will enjoy spending time with my family.

Actually I'm here now and today it is blue, after many days of constant rain or drizzle. That horrible,Chinese-water-torture phenomenon that only exists in this sceptred (septic) isle! :bah:

After todays 90 day fiasco, I am looking forward to a SHORT time there!

I use the term short time in a globally accepted sense, not Thai centred!

So the Philippines's second largest city with a population of 5 Million out of 100 Million has a bad area then?
What next for your revelations, the sky is blue and the grass is green? :coffee1:

I am informed the sky is grey in the UK.

  9. This section has not worked for at least a week on my computer or phone.

I have asked TV but no answer.

Anybody else having the same issue?

I don't think you are a Thai basher just a teller of tall tales and a person who does not care about the truth.  Because you wrote, "(the new government) bring in new legislation and requirements, almost on a daily basis, that makes life here untenable for me."  That is a lie.  The current government has not brought in new legislation and requirements on a daily basis that would make life difficult for a foreigner.

You come across as confrontational simply for the sake of confrontation. Life in front of your screen must be extremely harsh as you appear to mistakenly quote in order to bait people.

This is what I said:  as it gets more and more restrictive, oppressive and appears to bring in new legislation and requirements,

You will notice from the full quote that your junta hugging lead YOU to tell untruths, not me.

Welcome to my iggy list, where all those beneath contempt reside.

  11. Interesting replies.

Never thought this thread would take up so much space, we have ventured from the original post to encompass cuisine and how to recognise a former hooker!!

To the junta huggers, I did make a rather general post, intentionally and I am not going into the realms of specifics.

Reading the TV rules of posting might help regarding the ability of TV to report without restriction and your own inability to even call the powers that be an internationally recognised D word.

As for those who think it was just a whinge, my ticket is already booked and I am not leaving for forsaken love or financial reasons.

I do not know where I will decide to settle but I have good options which I will keep open for now.

Although I am unsure as to whether it is interesting or not, I will post from wherever I am to describe the changes in living style, culture shocks etc.

Normally, I would see it as pointless posting on a Thai forum without living here but, for those thinking of leaving, and for those for whom Thailand is paradise it may have crumbs of interest.

I would also state that my time in this country has been an enjoyable experience that I would not have missed for the World.

Beautiful country in which I have travelled extensively and made many Thai friends. I am going to miss them a great deal as well as the many wonderful aspects of living here.

Calling me a Thai basher just demonstrates shallowness of mind, ignorance of where the country is headed and proves you do not know me!

I'm with the OP to a large extent. I'm going to Spain in October to view some rental properties. I've been here 10 years but have decided to up sticks - should Spain be OK.

Haven't read all the posts but my reasons probably reflect others.   Unable to obtain health insurance here - due to age, although I feel 100% fit. Also, I have a principled view on living in a country with an un-elected government (daft I  know - but that's me, and it will not change now). Fed up with 90 days and renewing visa's and re-entry forms etc.

However, as a fall back I have renewed my retirement visa and will maintain my rental here for a couple more months,  just so I haven't burnt all my boats completely. This was the advice an ealier poster gave the OP.

Will miss the weather, but not a great deal more.

I lived in Spain a long time and still have an ex wife and property there.

Its a good place to live in general but I do prefer tropical weather.

You will have a good time.

I dont normally read this kind of thread but I was struck by the fact you seemed lucid - not just the usual disillusioned sex tourist.I think it's quite natural for expatriates anywhere to feel a malaise which they quite can't explain - a longing for the home country and culture.

But for some on this thread it's clear it really is all about the superficial aspects. One fellow seemed to believe the superior quality in rhe Philippines of the plebby food he enjoys - meat pies etc - was a critical factor. And yes that did amuse me given Thailand is home to one of the world's greatest cuisines.

I cannot be drawn to comment on meat pies 5555

    DennisF,

you've suggested something very unpalatable to a handful of the respondants to your thread - that everything is not rosey in Thailand and that not only could you be happier somewhere else but that you are willing and able to make the move.

Is a suggestion that has really wound a few up.

You are a psychologist, you can work it out.

5555 Yep, I got it early.  Loved it!

What do you think it's like in the U.K.? There's an enormous bunch of BS waiting for you. There's no comparison.

There is no plan to stay there, just a sabbatical.

I havent made a final living destination yet but it is very unlikely I will settle on Yorkshire!

I wouldn't use the same language but my point would be the same.Having foolishly ploughed my way through the entire thread it's still completely unclear what your specific reasons are.

As you asked nicely, there is no actual specific reason for leaving. Its a culmination of annoyances and irritations I neither want nor need.

That and the current political climate.

I know people want to hear I was ripped off by a bar girl or a similar horror story, they love them on TV but I honestly dont have one!

I was ripped off by a certain department for around 2m but my own fault for not dotting i's and crossing t's... nothing I cant live with and learn from!

I wouldnt say you were foolish, you must have been entertained...a little?

Bogus.  You listed no reasons to leave beyond some vague reference to Thai suffering (ha ha). In case you missed it, the current government handily won the last referendum vote.  Keep your Farang nose out of Thai politics.  Don't try and kid the expats who actually live here.  This year is the same as the last and the one before.  If you want to whing at least have some decent whinging points that actually happened to you and not some made up mumbo jumbo about hearsay stuff.  Try, "I was wearing a red shirt and a soldier hit me on the head and I'm going home!"  See, that works and is understandable.  Thai suffering because of freedom of speech is never going to fly unless the government bans talk about food and facebook.

You really do come across as an obnoxious retard.  Have a good day.

  18. Thank you for the many good wishes, I appreciate it.

I did not want this to become a Thai bashing thread, I have loved my time here and would not have

    missed one minute.

For the curious doubters, you will have to come up with another reason, I am not moving for fiscal reasons nor am I telling untruths.

The regime here is oppressive and becomes more so with each moronic declaration. Whilst it may not impact directly on the ostrich farangs, those with good Thai friends will feel their pain and frustration.

Those that say their Thai friends tell them things  are better under this monstrous junta are fooling themselves into believing the statements.  Thai people are not allowed to criticise their hi-so masters as they now live under constant threat of imprisonment if they publicly declare their true feelings.  Under that umbrella, they are not too enthusiastic about sharing their true feelings.

Again, thank you all for the good wishes, I am not burning bridges, just starting a new chapter.

I look at my 'country of origin', I look at Thailand, I take all the pro and cons I can think of from each and toss them on my 'scales of subjectivity.'  Thailand comes up the winner hands-down year after year.  Yeah, I complain and moan about the real abject stupidity you can find here, but I can find real abject stupidity in my 'country of origin' too, in fact, much much more than here in the Land of Smiles.  Anyway, my Thai wife and Thai family would prefer if I stay.

Best of luck on your new adventures.

    Thank you.

Having a family would possibly have made a difference.
