  1. Whatever you think about this guys personal life and preferences, he IS an icon and a fine songwriter/singer and musician.

Respect to him for continuing trying to entertain people, he is a multi millionaire, he does not need to do this.

I believe he does it out of love for music and respect for his fans across the World.

    Chok Dee to him.

  2. Race yes. Culture and behavior ... hmm.

Culture and behaviour are as diverse as race. The lack of please and thank you in Russia shocked me initially but

it is not a mark of impoliteness, just a cultural difference.

Those unable to accept behavioural or cultural differences should really stay in their own country.

It is the differences in both that make living in a multicultural society so interesting.

    I'm not a moron, dude.

I know all about Russian cultural differences. Duh. Such as the not smiling.

My grandparents all spoke Russian and made really good borscht, much better than I've had in Pattaya.

But am I correct that you don't live in Pattaya and take the baht buses regularly when the Russkies are in town?

The way they act, many of them, not all, is truly atrocious.

They push and shove to get on the buses at the Jomtien queue much worse than any nationality here.

The queue minders need to carry weapons and I kind of don't blame them.

Then they don't make space for others when it's crowded.

I was NOT joking about sitting on them. To get a seat, I REALLY do quite often need to sit on them.

And the people I sit on are ALWAYS Russians. Coincidence? Not a chance.

It's like they are 100 percent oblivious to anyone outside their group, unless they are also RUSSKIES.

    No, this is real.

The American way of describing such obnoxious brutish behavior is asking: WERE YOU RAISED IN A BARN?

Yes, dude, as I said I'm not a moron.

I know there are cultured, educated, and polite Russians.

I have worked with some of them.

    Not talking about them.

Talking about the RUSSKIE HERDS here in Pattaya.

Again, you don't live here, do you?

I get it. You want to be culturally sensitive, multi-culti, tolerant, "PC" etc.

I'm sorry. In this case that does not wash. The behavior I described is objectively very RUDE and awful. Can you even admit that?

I apologize if I have offended any Russians reading this who are not that way. I know you are not all that way. But I'm sorry, the behavior I described is simply beyond being "tolerant" about.

Thank you so much for stating twice in one post that yu are not a moron, that will remove all doubt..possibly.

I lived in Pattaya whilst I had commercial interests there (not a bar) but the daily digest of farangs in wife beater shirts and socks with open toe sandals ( mostly American, I'm sorry to say) and

stomaches that bounced lower than their knees as they waddled was just too much to bear.

How do you know they are all Russians and not from a former Eastern bloc country like Ukraine? Do you demand a passport when you sit on them?

Finally, I do appreciate your reminder of that intellectual hillbilly put down.

    Dude, have a good day.

  3. Race yes. Culture and behavior ... hmm.

  4. I can never understand the prejudice against Russians on this forum.

Of course, Pattaya attracts the Russian undesirables, just like it does the western undesirables ( if indeed you consider them undesirable because they dont

    conform to your behavioural standards).

Like a previous poster, I too have lived and worked in Russia ( Moscow and Novosobirsk) and my ex wife is Russian.

Unlike some western nations who have problems with laughing at themselves, Russians do not and are great company, much like the Aussies.

Russians ( not the cheap Pattaya crowd) are some of the friendliest and well educated people you could wish to meet.

A number of the more affluent Russians have indeed bought property in Pattaya but, you will not find them on Walking Street.

Generalising about a race of people is somewhat primitive, dont you think?

  5. This use to happen to My now Thai wife, before i met her,She was with a Thai man who would beat her after drinking. When she finally plucked up courage to go to the police after a few beatings. they came and arrested him. they put him in the Cells for the night, When he came home he beat her again, for calling the Police, Causing Her a chipped tooth and broken ribs, All the Thai police said was it's a Family matter sort it out yourself, Many times She was beaten in the street, not one Neighbour came to help her. It's Not our problem attitude, not our business, The final Thing was to give her children away, she took six years trying to find them, The last i heard he was doing four years for beating up his 70 year old mother, Maybe if he was given a harsh lesson a lot sooner maybe he would have learned to keep his hands to himself, But you usualy find People like this never stop beating women.Thailand has to start to give Thai women and girls more protection with harsh sentences for abuse to Females, also the Thai attitude should change towards women, but as we know that will never happen,

My respect to your wife for coming out the other end and to you for helping her.

I have no children but 5 sisters and only once had to intervene physically.

I cannot explain the revulsion I feel at males hitting females.

  6. Another 'spectacular' announcement that means nothing.

I feel so sad for the Thai populace.

Beautiful country, beautiful people ( in the main).

As a previous poster said, until the likes of the Koh Tao and Samui mafia are eliminated, along with their uncle protector

    it's business as usual.

    Smoke and mirrors.

    Propaganda.

    Empty rhetoric.

    In short: more boolsheet

  7. Couldn't watch it through. The guy probably watched his father beating his mother as he grew up and thinks this is normal. Had a market in small village 10 yrs ago and used to see the women come in with shiners and other injuries after every weekend when the boys got their load on. Wife says spousal abuse is pretty common, mostly among the drinkers.

Spare us the bleeding heart psychology sheet.

The guy is an oxygen thief. Man hit woman= not man.

GBH and the stamping on the face, attempted murder.

    15 years no time off.

Who cares what his father did, he has his own brain.. maybe.

  8. @ Lampang2

    4 floors, yes.

    You will miss it, yes.

    Lot of cash, no

Have a look at the defense budget.

It's not taken out of Nana.

Bribes do not count towards the state budget.

I dont think the tea money is included in the state budget.

Lots of cash for the BIB and military mafia.. YES

Local bib's don't run the country.

Never said they did. Read the full sentence.

  9. we cant have the military and the police acting as mafia can we that would be illegal wouldn't it but we do know this happens and has been happening for quite some time this chap is sending out a warning lets hope they heed it .

    That is sarcasm isn't it?

It has to be,... the chap sending out the message 'appointed ' a sycophant who spent double his declared assets on the stock market in one month!

Heed?? I think not, giggle, laugh uncontrollably, shake their collective head in disbelief, perhaps but, heed?? No

  10. If they can't stop it from the police/mafia side, they need to make it illegal for the business owners to pay. With serious penalties, such as shutting down their business, fines, and imprisonment.

    .

Then they need to do stings. Once word gets out that paying bribes will cause you to lose everything, business owners will think twice before handing out payments.

    Excellent idea

The Bankok/Phuket/Pattaya flying clubs need new members,

  11. Buy a ticket, go to the airport, pay the 20,000 baht fine and go home. I normally hate the sanctimonious responses that overstay threads in this forum elicit but you're the lowest of the low, in my opinion, if you attempt to 'hand yourself in' just to save 15,000 baht or so. It's not a great deal of money: For a 2-year overstay, your fine will work out at just over 27 baht a day. Man up, borrow the money and leave. And find out the flight costs yourself; don't be so damn lazy.

I'm always wondering how these type of people been able to support themselves for two years in a row, yet no money for a return ticket nor fine.

Nothing wrong with wondering but then, its really none of your business is it?

  12. We laugh and we ridicule but, Briggsy is probably on the button.

This current team of incompetents want a return to a totally medieval regime and the so called mafia

will be replaced by their cronies.

Our dearleader, if this was done properly, would rise in the esteem of many, including other countries governments but, alas

we all know the real purpose of this latest crackdown.

    Troughs for the boys.

If this is implemented it will certainly end in tears, if not blood.

My concern is for the collateral damage, the innocents who could get caught up in this.

The wonderful people of this country are sitting on the most beautiful time bomb imaginable.

  13. Those curry packs they sell in VM go down very well after a night on the beer. I used to get one every Monday night after the Robin Hood quiz.

You get 6 or 7 different types of curry per pack. They were cheap too, after a certain time the price came down.

We are on planet Earth, thank you for dropping in. 5555

  14. Even though I have and never will have any business with Thai loan sharks, I feel a deep disgust / repugnance whenever I see those Muak Gan Nok guys (mostly on 250cc bikes, mostly 2, both wearing helmets/masks, often gloves, long sleeve shirts, the pillion rider carrying a money shoulder bag) to an extend that I want to run them off the street. I hope all those devil's henchmen will have a life full of despair and misfortune as karmic repayment for working as debt collectors. As for the loan sharks themselves, charging 10% interest and more PER MONTH! I wish them nothing but gastric cancer, leprosy and brain tumors...

10% per month is less than some western instant SMS loans that can be up to 20% per month. Every country has debt collectors, some in the form of governmental credit bureaus. if you don't want to meet them either pay back your loan or don't loan money. I hate people who take loans and don't expect to pay them back. That's why there's debt collectors.

    Good point.

How many government credit bureaus do you know that take firearms to collect debts and shoot at people and their houses?

You have great insight into this story, please share with us exactly how you know they were not just financially embarrassed and didn't expect to pay the loan back?

Why do you hate them? Is it personal?

    Strange post

  15. My late wife had a gambling problem although I didn't know how bad it was at first until she showed me the paper with a couple hundred thousand baht she had borrowed from various loan sharks in surin....I went around and payed them all off and told them not to give her anymore so anyway she borrowed more off of different ones and then passed away from a heart attack so they come around and I told them what happened and that I would not pay as I was again unaware of it so they went straight next door to the people who guaranteed for her because now they had to pay and then they come to me begging if I could pay for them and I said no and this is what you get for doing it in the first place where they knew it was all behind my back, that was nearly 6 years ago and I've heard nothing else of it.

I would think with the money you saved you could afford some punctuation. tongue.png

Maybe he is not a native English speaker but, I am certain everyone will appreciate your trolling the threads to make inane grammar posts.

    Well done.

  16. I'm waiting for Lidl to open.

    .

    Ahhh memories!

When I lived on my boat in Spain I used to have the inevitable parties aboard.. Lidl sold a Cava at around 1 Euro a bottle.

Collecting the 10 or more crates for a champagne party was awesome and cheap ( had to get orange juice too.. cava was sheet)

Needless to say I drank only decent red wine but it was a hell of a cheap way to get a headache!!

    Lets Have Lidl.. sure!

  17. Why oh why does every thread turn to bashing the Thais??

Loan sharks are in EVERY country, in this one they are just another part of the corruption circle.

Thai people are low paid and find it hard to make ends meet... borrowing seems to them to be the only option.

Unfortunately, they usually have no collateral and resort to loan sharks fore the 'must have ' things seen on their new smart phones.

The blame here is with the nasty, insidious, grasping loan sharks whose repayments cripple people financially.

Try not to blame the Thai people en masse, it shows your ignorance, not theirs.

Walk a mile in their shoes before judging.

Put thes two lowlifes in an 8x6 for 10 years. Scum.
