  1. Video games my friends!

Who needs a wife and kids when you can get lost in a game for hours each and every day. Games like Skyrim are like virtual simulators. Much better than real life because you don't have to fork over money, and you can live the life of a virtual king!

For sex you can either watch porn or visit the Nana district in Bangkok. :)

  2. Whatever yer budget for the week, give her 1/4 to 1/3, & get her to handle some of the bills. Food is good cause she can get from the market way cheaper than you. Don't give monthly as it may all be "Needed?" elsewhere & she will likely want more. If that is not enough in her mind, you are out of yer weight class. Find one a few years older or one burdened with someone elses kids. if its still not enough go back to where ever yer from & come back with a bigger bank account, or get used to sleeping alone....

    Bad Tony

    I like your strategy Tony.

    Thanks. [emoji3]

  3. OP, as you are so tight, are you ever able to take a leak?

One suspects there are moths in the OP's wallet that haven't learned to fly yet
Id be careful putting my hand into his wallet. He probably washes out and re-uses frangers. Could get nasty.
Let's put this way if the OP is fretting over such small amounts of petty cash, wait till the subject of Sin Sot comes up, he had better book himself a room in the cardiac unit of a "reasonably priced" hospital now
What's Sin Sot? Does it cost more than $1,000 baht. Cause I'm not paying a lot of money!

  4. Hmm, the OP is trying to teach his girlfriend of three weeks, financial responsibility and budgeting, some of us having been trying to teach our wives such things for fifteen years or more and still we're not there yet!

The other striking point about what was written is the OP's complete lack of understanding of Thai culture, you're going to her mums house for the first time, sure you need to buy her a gift.

The part about the car and driver for 3.5k, silly girlfriend for doing that but doubtless she wanted to show an association to farang wealth, the issue there is 90% about "face", the 10% is likely that she wanted you to have a relaxed trip in comfort.

Good luck, you've got a way to go yet,

Its not my first time at her mom's house. In the past I have gotten her a small gift. I had been in America for the past 7 months and my girl said I should have gotten her mom something American. I didn't and she was mad at me. I told her that I will pick something out for our next trip. I plan to remedy the situation.

I'm very big on financial responsibility. I've seen too many people who have spent their way to poverty. I don't want to be in the same boat as they are in.

You call it financial responsibility..the thai called it...kee nook...kee neow.....w00t.gif
GGuys like the OP make people like me look like high rollers.

OP, have you ever bent over and picked up a 25 satang coin?

Its not like I go looking for dinner in the local trash bin.

In USA we have a TV show called cheapskates. Those people on that show make me look like a high roller. :)

  5. Naive young man I would say. another Thai girl who is going to use a farang for her needs and her familys'. Get out before you are bled dry.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

And the basis of your professional in depth assessment of this Thai girls character is what?

He's making a generalized statement. Still, we read on the web about how farang are being deceived out of their money by these beautiful Thai women.

    Maybe most are bar girls?

  7. Thai women have such a bad reputation when it comes to money, so I am always on my guard with my girlfriend. I know its not the right thing to do, but its my personality. I also haven't been in a relationship in a long while. I've only had to spend money on myself. smile.png

Thai women as a group are generally frugal when it comes to spending money. The exceptions are Thai women who date farangs.

Ah...maybe the stories that I've been reading have more to do with the love relationships between bar girls and farang.
  8. My girlfriend is a very hard worker. She works 40-50 hours a week. Its just that she doesn't make a lot of money.

I forgot to mention that we went to a soccer game last week. Free VIP seats. I didn't pay a dime. Free food/beer and a ride to the game.

    Hmm... Maybe I am cheap.

  9. Dont expect her to change anytime soon.Thai women think you are made of money,

I guess. I've read a few horror stories on how farang(s) have been duped out of their money by their Thai girlfriend.

I know it's not good to think like this.

  10. No woman capable of financial prudence and responsibility would move in with a guy within 3 weeks of meeting him.

Well we were going out for a year. It was a long distance relationship, but it wasn't like I just met her.

  11. 3500B for gas to Korat???

    Get a bus.

I can get from Khon Kaen to Bkk in my car for 900 Baht.

Any woman that says, "up to you" more than one a year is a money-grabbing ex pro. - dump her before she dumps you.

    Does she have a job?

She had to pay her friend to take us. He also slept the night at her mom's house. I thought 3,500 baht was too much as well.
  12. I need an opinion(s) on my issue. Anyway, I am currently living in Bangkok with my girlfriend. I have only been with her for 3 weeks.I told her that if I was going to live in Bangkok with her then I was going to pay the rent. I don't mind it's only $220 USD a month. We share food payment and other things that we need on a daily basis.

We went to see her mother last weekend in Korat. It's a 4 hour ride from Bangkok. My girlfriend was mad at me because I didn't give her gas money and I didn't get her mom a gift. She had to spend $3,500 baht for the ride plus lunch on Sunday. I didn't give her any money while we were in Korat.

So now we are back home and she wants me to help her with half of the $3,500 baht. I keep asking her how much and she keeps saying "up to you." Also, we went to the dentist 2 days ago and I paid for a cavity that she needed filled. That was $800 baht. Anyway, I relented and gave her $1,000 baht for gas, stay at mom's house and lunch on Sunday. I said that we split food but normally I am the one paying if we go out. She will buy food and bring home occasionally, but it's normally street food so it's not expensive.

Should I have given her the $1000 baht. I'm a bit of a tight wad, and I believe in financial responsibility. It seems like most Thais would rather spend money.

We are going on a budget. I told her! I don't think she understands yet. :)

  13. How bad is the racism between Chinese Thais and the regular Thai people? I heard it's pretty bad. I read that the regular Thais are looked down upon because of their skin color and their financial standing. Is this true?

Does jealousy exist with the regular Thais? I didn't even know any of this existed until I started reading Stickman's guide to Thailand.
