  1. Thailand and Thai people are open and diverse, so being straight in a Gay club is no big deal....it's 2014 ... Times have changed and people have changed...

Saying all that a Gin and Tonic is quite a Camp Drink....

Hey ... I happen to like the odd (or even) G and T.

Only when the weather is hot.

    Refreshing different.

Maybe one bottle of gin through the Duty Free ... then back to the Rum and Cokes.

    .

Sorry if I offended you, it was not intended... I like Southern Comfort and Coke ?? So not sure where I would be on the scale...

    Semi-camp. possibly retro 80's.

I like good strong bourbon myself. My partner prefers the 'breezer' wine coolers.

  2. hen perhaps Mc'ds should start showing customers giant posters of cholesterol ridden arteries, incredibly obese people etc.

How places serving animal flesh show pictures af the undigested meat left in a corpe's bowels...

    Why stop there?

Indeed. You're preaching to the choir. I favor government regulation of large food companies. They are indeed a contributor to the global obesity epidemic. I think in that case it would be more productive to go after the INGREDIENTS in their products though.

It is not an EPIDEMIC me old salt.

    Epidemic proportions just maybe.

We could be emotive and name it a crisis

A crisis of laziness and slothfullness worldwide

  3. I have my doubts that a noodle vendor would except a debit card, Great story though.

you have obviously never visited a food court.

Stick to talking about what you know.

Read through all the posts before pretending you know everything. I already answered, and quite possibly rarely visiting a food court isn't a sign of ignorance .

Cooked & Shirtelss had a simple misunderstanding of what I wrote. Quite understandable.

Will all these smart phone payment systems see street noodle stalls accepting cards in the near future?

  4. After working in the service industry in various forms I believe every word. People are unbelievable and they don't realize the only thing they achieve by bickering about pocket change is making a fool out of themselves. Poor noodle lady anyhow!

Yes, some people get off by talking down to other people. I've always felt sorry for people I. the service industry, the way some people talk to them and act. SHOCKING.

    I. surprised there's not more cases of people being bashed to death by waitress trays and the like.

Must admit ND I went postal once when I ordered a takeaway cheeseburger at McD's and there wasn't a burger inside just cheese.

Did they give you special sauce?

  5. First try to get your facts straight. The term "homophobic" was created by George Weinberg, a straight psychotherapist.

And for people who "prefer their own sex" is not "their choice"; it's not a choice at all. It's an intrinsic characteristic.

As for "both women or both men gay couples were never meant to be able to reproduce", what do you mean by "meant"? Do you believe in some invisible sky fairy who decides what is "meant" and what isn't "meant"?

You write "try giving sound reasons that 2 same sex people should be able to reproduce even though it is physically impossible". How about changing that to "try giving sound reasons that 2 different sex people should be able to reproduce even though the invisible sky fairy has resolved that for them it is to be physically impossible".

However, thank you for patronising me by writing "It does a great dis-service to those gay couples that accept that they are not able to reproduce due to their partner choice and have chosen their partners due entirely to the love of each other." I happen to be half of one of those "gay couples that accept that they are not able to reproduce". Personally, I am happy not to have children. However, if others feel that their lives would be enriched by raising and nurturing a child or children, who am I (or anybody else) to say no? Given the sh*tty ways that many children of straight couples and single parents are brought up, I would posit it's far better for children to be brought up by a couple who love, care for, and nurture the child irrespective of their sexuality and gender than to be brought up by uncaring individuals or couples of any sexual orientation.

    Great post.

  6. "He studied his receipt with a frown, then holding it high up in the air, he started berating the shocked woman about how she had overcharged him! Not just any overcharge mind you, the criminal overcharge of 20 baht! The noodles he wanted were 35 baht and she was charging him 55 baht! "

Whether the amount was 20 Baht or 20 million Baht makes no difference at all as far as I can see. It's a matter of principle.

If the stall sells small noodles at 35B and large noodles at 55B, the sign should say so plainly. It's very simple to achieve and then there can be no possible dispute.

The food court in BigC on Sukumvit Pattaya shows dual prices for most items like this: Pork Noodles 35/55, thus making it quite clear that there are two sizes and two prices. Even my local street noodle stall does the same.

The sign clearly said the prices. It was the communication the gentleman displayed giving his instructions in English to someone who speaks Thai

  7. Gentlemen, what we have here is a 'Misapprehension-Cluster'!!

In Foodcourts you purchase a debit/coupon card and then purchase your food from your desired vendor with the card.

    <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

I have my doubts that a noodle vendor would except a debit card, Great story though.

He paid for noodles with 'a card'? Difficult to believe. I can't even use my card in BigC if the sum is under ฿1000.- .

I have my doubts that a noodle vendor would except a debit card, Great story though.

No they all do as do the street stalls and buses and.............................................. alt=whistling.gif>

Do you keep your shaver in a pouch inside your man bag?

I have not tried this. I can see times an emergency shave might be needed.  Does carrying it work for you?

How do you shave the hair off your arse?

    Difficult, I could imagine alt=whistling.gif>

My arse is naturally smooth and soft. Maybe one day you can see for yourself

I don't recommend going commando in an office environment.

I would think it could add some excitement to the day.  The thrill of freedom.

  9. I get my girlfriend to carry my extras. I don't carry much though. My smartphone and wallet stay in my pocket. If I need to bring my passport and retainer case for my teeth my girl will carry the items in her pocketbook.

What happens if you get drunk and lose your bag? Or what happens if someone grabs it and makes a run for it?

You wear it with the strap diagonally across your shoulders. This avoids any snatch

    I'm sure it does !

My dear man, I avoid it daily without a second thought!

  10. I never shaved my body or went commando (no underwear) back home, but here in Thailand for several years now, I do both.

The heat and humidity is the reason why I do it here.

I use an electric 'Wahl' brand shaver for the body and do this about every 4 months.  Now I dry much quicker and my body does not seem so damp through the day or night.

I used to wear boxer shorts, but even those become sticky in the heat.  A friend of mine douses his body in talcum powder twice a day to soak up the moisture.

Ditching the boxers and going commando has reduced the dampness and made life much more pleasant down that way.

  11. Anyone who feels his masculinity is in question because he's carrying a bag needs some serious therapy.

    An excellent point!!

Not only do many posters feel it will bring their manhood into question, they also feel it will bring their sexuality into question.

I am more than comfortable with my masculinity.

I am more than comfortable with my sexuality.

Fancy being so insecure that you would feel a man bag could question such very things! Absurd!

  12. again at the risk of offending esteemed members - perhaps this should move to another forum for men being concerned about their attractiveness....

If you mean the Football Forum, this is not about sport nor fashion. Just plain commonsense and practicaility. Okay, maybe coupled with looking stylish..

    Serious question, are you gay?

    Seriously Dude??

    How is that relevant?

  13. I must admit I use one here due to glasses, sunglasses, contacts, suntan lotion, deodorant, bog roll, Imodium, keys way too many keys, gawd knows how many store cards, tablet, wallet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Back home I would never be seen with one, pockets are enough.

Went back last year and stayed at my mums on the way out to Palace followed by a nights drinking in Croydon I was asked are you not taking your bag ? Erm no I fancy coming back in one piece.

There might be some certain places back in my home country where I would not wear one either.

Here in Thailand though we all free to wear one without fear of some of a random attack by some person

  14. Good God never..........

Pathetic for goodness sake man up

man up?lol.they already did. That's why they have bags

Rubbish they are following "fashion" rather than absolutely needing it.

My old man told me something years ago and its still true today......."Fashion is great right up to the point you look an utter berk wearing it"

Dude! Things have changed since your Dad gave you the advice that you adhere to this very day. The world changes.

People now carry more stuff with them. Smartphones for example. They can be big and chucky and extra batteries or re-charging devices can be needed. ipads/Tablets. Bottle of water maybe? They all need to go somewhere.

Thailand is a hot climate. Why wear clothes weighed down with items in every pocket?

Man bags are not a fashion themselves, they are a very practical and convenient item. They can be a fashion item and they can be fashionable, but people using one are certainly not following a fashion.

  15. This topic reminds me of this picture I came across recently on Twitter, it was titled 'the most french demonstrator ever' during the recent demonstrations in Paris.

Fully suited, booted and groomed with manbag in place yet he took the time to stop and throw rocks at the police :

    attachicon.gifTheFrenchDemonstrator.png

Great photo ukrules. Action man with man bag attached.

I notice the demonstrator has what looks like a journalists note pad in one hand. Could he be the ThaiVisa News correspondent? Bkkjames even?

  16. Some of us don't like the metro sexual thing being forced upon us ,like cosmetic companys and al their creams to make youre skin look nice etc....

I myself carry a small backpack/daypack when going out for the day.Concerning laptops nowadays I-pad mini and smartphones can do almost anything a laptop can do and are much easier to carry around i like to travel light so to speak.

    Quite right you are sir!

A small backpack or daypack can be considered a man bag! Generally they are for the older amongst us, but a man bag nevertheless!
