This is interesting
That mean that 80% of the Thai bashing going around here in Thai Visa will be illegal
Just wondering if it is going to be a lot of messages removed due to violation of terms for posting?

Me Hi-So, why i have to be elected by the people Lo-So....... TIT
Off course they will get this swiftly approved before anybody react

"Suvarnabhumi Airport announced it will take action against misuse of disabled parking spaces,
after several photos of luxury cars parked in the privileged spots circulated on Facebook."
But no one noticed before.
No Thai would do such a terrible thing........ oooops no, cant use this excuse this time.....
Maybe they should try to stop it by punishing the security guys too?? they are getting 1 to 2 days salary from each of these cars....
TIT = Only money matter.....

And take advantage of all those bicycle lanes throughout Thailand. 55555
Yes, you are right......
I have several, in fact too many of these in my village up in Isaan

<script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>
Wonder what sort of duty will be incurred. Do not know of any bicycle manufacturers in Thailand, so perhaps not so much.
Riding a bike around old Bangkok is quited okay; China Town, around government house, Samsen road, Hwa Loompong, all they way to Chongnongsi. The least pleasant place is around Sukhimvit.
The bikes on there website are priced at 74000-85000 Baht
Only 3 models listed!
Some points:
1) I drive a Honda Wave motorbike in Bangkok. If you are stationery at traffic lights with a few other motorbikes for any length of time, you sure know the air from fumes are unhealthy.
2) The whole reason that Thais drive cars in Bangkok is because they want to show they are rich and stay un-sweaty . The Brompton would not achieve either of these objectives in Bangkok.
3) Most Thais do not want to walk for 100 meters let alone cycle anywhere. Enthusiastic cyclists in Bangkok would not be riding a Brompton but more likely opt for a Hybrid Mountain Bike / Road Bike.
If I was manufacturing a bike for Bangkok and typical Thai people, it would be a strong reliable simple Hybrid Mountain Bike / Road Bike with 5 gear block (12 to 24 ) with 35 mm strong city tyres. The basis is already available in even in Big C.
74000-85000 Baht Yeah sure, i take two.... Are they frigging having a laugh ??
For that price i can buy two Honda Wave....
also i agree that Most Thais do not want to walk for 100 meters let alone cycle anywhere. s
ounds like this is going to be a business success story

transferred to an inactive post at the operations centre of the National Police Office.
Geez how big is this place?
The offices of inactive post must be huge, since they are the biggest employer in this country....
But also the most secretive, since it is never mentioned on any CV nor do we ever hear anything more about those peoples jobs in this place

Yes he personally lowered the world oil prices as a new years gift to thai peopleBut doesn't the lower price of diesel come from our dear El Generalissimo as a Christmas gift and has nothing to do with the plunging price of oil on the global market??
This is a classic one.
Even in the western world we never see the consumer goods prices go down on changes of fuel prices (down that is) but if the fuel prices goes up, then everything goes up.....
this should however help the struggling bus companies with competing with Air Asia.... But.... did the ticket price go down?
Lower the prices?? never, it is high season!

Amazing Thailand. I am nearly made speechless.
I agree with so many of you that the ancient government should make that silly cow the new ambassador of Thailands embassy in North Korea!
-
Just to emphasize that the man is not a "real Thai" he is Akha. Thanks for the clarification! We know a "real Thai" could never, would never....

What a crock of shit ... who believes these numbers?
They do have a reputation for nonsense.
It did get busy around Christmas and has fallen off considerably in the last few days at the beaches. So much for high season.
I don't blame the coup as many do. If anything Thailand has never been more stable. I blame the world economy and specifically the Russian economy. Chickens coming home to roost for Putin, som nam na.
Well, the consensus amongst friends and family overseas that I've spoken to, is as follows:
1. It's far too expensive, even compared to as little as 4 or 5 years ago
2. They don't feel they will be "welcomed" or "accepted", other than as a source of cash, unlike say a decade ago
3. There's nothing here that they can't find in other Asian countries such as Laos, Cambodia or Vietnam for example, and those countries seem to welcome tourists much more and treat them better whilst there
4. The danger aspect, lots of foreigner deaths, suicides, accidents, and they just don't feel safe
5. Quality/standard of service (unless going very high end) is very low
Now, these are based on impressions they've received from news reporting, blogs, peoples personal experiences and actual trips here.
So, in summary, whatever Thailand "had", they've lost it.
It's TAT's lame attempt to counter the dismal news that was the lead item today on Thai tourism:
TIT and TAT
Off course TAT will have to "save face" by counter todays bad news cycle !
But i think that Tatsujin hit the nail on the head.... and the list is getting longer and longer.... i see many of my long term expat friends in Thailand packing up and moving to neighboring countries like Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
From a personal point, i have "only" been here 5 years, but i have seen a drastic decline in quality of life, cost of living have doubled, the friendliness is gone.... so only climate left... but that you also get in other countries too.
i know you guys will argue when i say cost of living have doubled.
i can agree that statistically prices has not gone up that much, but volume of what you get has gone down...
for example

While I truly feel sorry for this woman, i do wish the local media would give the same sort of attention to all the foreigners who are scammed by local women. Sadly, it's no surprise at all that they don't however.

#2 do we have to pay for motorbike which is registered in his name
It might be registered in his name.
But if it was taken out on a down payments plan. No 16 year old can sign for that. so someone have had to co-sign, most likely your wife did so.
please verify that.
if that contract defaults you can in theory loose house and car to pay down motorbike.
Good luck
-
This is the ABSOLUTE Gospel....I find it impossible to understand why you would do it any other way if you are paying (different story if girl works and has her own income).
"If you're gonna pay for everything at least get a 20 year old hottie, not a 50 year old single mother"

So many vehicles with LPG tanks exploding in Thailand. They are rolling bombs. But it seems, nobody is concerned about it.
Think everybody looks at it as a calculated risk to be able to run your car cheap.
I know i will never let any of these crazy's install a gas tank in my boot...

Given the amazingly bad reputation of Death Island's police when it comes to the investigative
process, a smart move for them would have been to stay 50 feet away from the crime scene,
and ask for Khun Porntip to come down to the island. Then at least the outcome, in either
direction, would have had some believability. She sold her soul to the devil on the GT 200
fiasco, but by accounts is still pretty good on forensic examinations. Does anyone know
if she will be involved ??
On the face of it, it sure looks like murder with the hands tied. But if so, why make it so
public ? Sending a message ? If people on the island really wanted to off this guy, seems like
they would just kill him and throw the weighted body in the sea. Maybe someone on the island
wants to buy up property on the cheap, so a few very public deaths would knock down
values.....I have been there, it is very beautiful. Does not seem like place to go to kill yourself.
Am curious about the suicide note. Was it written in French ? If so, could I safely assume
the police would contact the family to get other letters he has written and do a comparative
analysis ? Or is that too much work ?
TIT
Nothing new here, please move on folks

"Suspicions arose over what appeared to be a suicide when on further inspection it was discovered the man’s hands were tied behind his back"
No sh_t, sherlock!
Looks like the BIB sobered up enough to actually see that the guys hands was tied.....

The public holidays don't start until Wednesday.
However my little town North East of Khon Kaen is already experiencing large traffic flows.
Some Khuns must have the whole week off. Good on them.
Imagine whats its going to be like once the rest of the lower echelon workers get off work.
I think this year is going to be a bust for traffic.
Best regards for New Year.
Looks like a lot of people have the whole week off...
I live in Khon Kaen and the Traffic has been very bad since before the weekend....

Lets get back to the OP original question.
If one get stamped out of Thailand.... walk across the bridge/border, but don't get stamped in/out of another country and go back to the Thai crossing...
will there be any issues.??
Theoretically one have left the Kingdom of Thailand to do some gambling for example....
i know one specific border crossing was mentioned, but same could go for instance with Nong Khai too...
There is shops and casinos between the two Passport controls there too...
could be interesting to know...

Break failure, MY ASS!
Driving to fast to be able to stop for car stopped at red light,
turning to avoid collision, but due to high speed flipping round....
This sound more like a more believable story !
Problem with that story is that someone would have to be hold accountable....
SO TIT, lets blame someone else.... break failure... then no-one will need to be accountable.....

The mall’s public relations blamed the shark jump incident on a child who was seen tapping the aquarium with a toy, scaring the cute little shark.
Yup, definitely the fault of those pesky children, they stopped just short of saying it was a foreign child, and for sure no issues with safety measures taken by the mall.
Off course no Thai would do such a terrible thing....

Yes, OP is right The cost of living have actually gone up a lot over the last 2-3 years.
But as TIT you would not see it in the way you think....
The packet of cheese or butter is priced at the same as before more or less (+2-3 Baht ) but the amount you buy is a lot less... Packaging is the same size so you still feel it is same.... but in fact you will need to buy more in a shorter interval .
A very good example and proof of this is enclosed picture.
I used to stock up on CP Sausages, (4 in a pack) usually from Tesco or 7/11, buying bulk 10+ chuck it in the freezer and use when needed.
Cost aprox. 40 Baht (used to be 38 now 42) The pack looks the same as it has for years...
Back to the picture, as you can see i opened two packs from my freezer and discovered this....
Having studied this in more depth i discovered that it is not a singular event.... packet of Lays potato crisp before 65 Gram now 55 Gram cost same 20 Baht. and the list goes on...
so it is a sneaky way of avoiding getting the government on their neck by upping the prices too much, as we know that they like to try to regulate.....
so better cut the amount of product and keep prize the same....
Amazing TIT

Damn it, would foreigners please have the decency to die in their home countries!
Note to self - install CCTV around the house to video the culprit that kills me.
Yes, but off course dear Watson,
Very important.... got my CCTV set up with Cloud storage / duplication, so they can steal the box but there is at least one or two copies of the videos on the cloud and if anything suspicious happens, like i dies very sudden....
my solicitor does have his instructions....
don't you all have this????
you know the paranoids can actually be followed too..........
A Thai study on airline tickets is under way to find out air fares can be further cut
