Moving from Samui to Bangkok next week for work reasons

Not sure where I want to live yet, office is near on-nut but it's a bit far away from the nightlife for me I think so want to stay somewhere near Nana for a month 1st while I get used to living in BKK and suss out where I would like to stay on a permenant basis.

I have been looking at staying at Rajah Mansion for a month but have read mixed reports, does anyone have any recent feedback on the place or could you suggest anywhere else in the area that I can stay for a month for under 13k?

High Waves? I just took the 14.30 had rin queen ferry from koh phangan back to samui and the sea was very calm.

I have friends coming over to visit me and we are heading to Samui for a week during the Full Moon Party. I have tried to find somewhere on Phangan for us to kip the night of the Full Moon Party but everywhere we have tried has said we must stay a minimum of 3/5 nights We were offered a place for one night but have since found out its 45 mins away from the party! We are only needing somewhere to kip for a few hours before heading back to Samui the next morning. Does anyone know of any hotels/b&b's in the area with availability for the night of the 9th May (2 rooms). Kipping on the beach in the 'sleep area' is not an option!

You will find it very difficult to find somewhere for 1 night, you can sometimes find places to check in early the following morning as people start to leave the island.

Why not just get a speedboat there and back?

You lot really need to chill out. So far there has only been 1 party and your moaning! And yes I live in the area and could hear the music. What's next to moan about? The thunder is too loud, the toads are too loud, the cockrels are too loud, the geckos are too loud.

If the parties start happening every week/night then you might have something to moan about! Until then chill the fxxx out.

There is a new place on the beach called Swing Bar behind McDonalds, has free pool tables and Singha is only 60b, food is supposed to be good but haven't tried it yet.

Looks like it is going to be Lamai's version of The Ark Bar.

My office have given me letter offering me job and all the company paperwork but I still dont have a WP3 (can I get a WP3 while still on Tourist Visa????)

If so can I take a WP3 and change from tourist visa to Non Imm B at the same time?

So after I have used my 90days up it wont be a problem changing to Visa status so I can get my WP sorted?

I have been in Thailand for almost 60 days, I have done 1 border run so far.

I am waiting fro my prospective employer to sort out my paperwork for my WP and so I can get a non immigrant visa but they are taking there time and I dont think it will be ready in time for me to go and sort out next week.

Can I do another border run next week so it gives my prospective employer time to get my paperwork in order so the next time I go to Malaysia I can get my non-imm visa?

I looked at rennting here but do a search at the top of the frum page for villas & there should be quite a lot of results come up with past recommendations. I like December too. Not too hot & humid.

I would like to know where about in koh Samui is the best place to stay?

I have been advised Chaweng beach is the liveliest resort.  I would lik to be as close to the nightlife as possible and right on the beach.

Can anyone recommend decent accom?  I am looking for aircon and hot water!!

I always stay at The Ark Bar, right near all the nightlife, cool tunes nice people.

It's a great place to meet people, a lot of guests at other hotels tend to hang out there. It's on the beach and has a small pool.

All the rooms are clean with good air-con check out there site here (includes menu) Ark Bar

I've stayed there 4 times in the last 2 years and apart from in April - June when the tide is quite a long way out I cant find a fault with the place.
