  1. Think you will find that you can not change from ed extension to a retirement visa in country. You will either have to do a border run and return on a tourist visa exemption or visit a local Thai embassy or consulate to obtain it. Not sure what country you are from but if not a G7 country you will get only a 15 day entry from a land crossing and this will not be enough time, as in order to change from a tourist to another type of visa you require a full 14 days remaining on the exemption stamp.

  2. Ah gender discrimination alive and well in Thailand lol.

On a serious note you will need to go to the UK Embassy to obtain a affirmation to marry certificate this then needs to be translated by the ministry of interior with this you can then get married in local amphur office. When you have your marriage certificate you can then apply at your local immigration office for non o visa based on marriage

    you will need

    passport copies all stamps

    husbands I'd card copy

    Copies of both marriage certificates

    Husbands house book

    freedom to Marry translation

    map showing where you live

pics of you and husband sitting on bed and standing at front of house

    passport photos

    application form

not sure about money for female marrying Thai guy but others seem to know about that

    and lastly your visa fee

you will be given a month extension initially and told to return on certain date to collect 11 month non o.

You can get a work permit when you are married but usual rules apply

  3. i would suggest going to consulate in Laos and applying for double entry tourist visa if there is a possibility you may want to stay longer. just be prepared to show you have funds to support yourself. the immigration police have been warning people for months that the days of the visa run is coming to an end. you might be lucky and be able to do a visa run just don't count on it any more They can stop you from leaving Thailand into Myanmar as you can not get a visa on arrival. Laos they cant stop you leaving but can stop you from returning

  4. had friend whose g/f decided she wanted him to buy a car and put it in her name. he paid minimal deposit and then min monthly payments on the car. several months later he found she had another guy on the side so he cancelled the insurance and drove the truck into a wall.he left her and also left her with 700,000 baht worth of finance to pay off

  5. Get this sorted before you come or will become a hassle further down the line

Not sure how you obtained a Non O visa (Retirement Marriage etc) but to obtain an extension you will have to submit all the required paperwork for that particular visa having all the paper work from the school will not get you an extension for a Non O

If you arrive in Thailand on a Non O and need to change to a Non Ed then you will need to leave the country and visit a consul in Lao etc as you cannot change visa types in country (except from a tourist visa to another type)

you son is on the correct visa as he will be staying with you providing you have a valid extension

  6. might as well wait till his ed visa expires then leave the country and return on a tourist visa he can then go to immigration and apply for a retirement visa providing he has all his ducks in a row, problem is if he is not from a country which gives 30 days visa exempt,on entry and immigration insist on 15 days remaining on a visa in order to process new one. that means have to do a border crossing and get to the immigration office in one day

  7. have you ever tried using a roundabout in Thailand it's every man for himself they ignore or don't understand the stop and give way markings

daughter friend brought the Thai highway code she was using for her test all it consisted of was road signs and road marking pictures with their names it made no reference what the signs and markings mean and what you must do when you approach them

  8. i believe it's residency that can be applied for after 3 years of visa extensions (don't think multiple entry visas apply) then after a certain number of years can go through the long process of applying of Thai citizenship

Think Residency is still a pain and only 100 people from each nationality are approved each year

here is link about applying for citizenship

  9. If you are intending to leave the country and sort out your overstay problems, why not leave the country at Laos and travel to the Consulate/embassy in either savannakhet or Vientiane and apply there for a non B visa

You will need the school to provide you with all the required paperwork together with your degree and transcript, you will be given a 3 month visa then you can go to your local immigration and apply for a years extension

during you 3 month visa you school can apply for your work permit etc ready for you to apply for the extension

Before the trolls come out from under the bridge telling me you can not work till you have the work permit in hand yes in an ideal world that is true but TIT and the bureaucracy in this country is far from perfect.

  10. easy way is to stop cars from being assembled in Thailand (unless it is a registered car manufacture assembly plant eg Honda) this will stop people importing luxury cars to avoid tax payments, it will also unsafe cars from being put onto the roads you all know the ones two different cars welded together that just disintegrate on impact.
