  1. Who comes up with these ideas surely a better way of keeping tourists safe is to have police out and about patrolling instead of setting up checkpoints

This will make tourists stand out and make them targets for every scammer for miles around

And the buddy system where you are paired with a local . hmmmm are none of these robberies assaults, rapes committed by local Thai people then ?

  2. just bought a new Mitsubishi Triton double door plus fully kitted with liner camera tv/dvd, sat nav etc fitted with LPG should have been 805,000 but offer on so was given 100,000 off with a 3 year warranty. the car will lose money for the first few years but if you intend to keep it for as long as possible it will retain it value in later years ... also have a Toyota Yaris bought for 450,000 7 years ago still worth 280,000 where else would i be able to sell a car for that done over 150,000 km's

  3. I'm no psychic but i can see this ending in tears. Thailand is making the immigration process more difficult in an attempt to get rid of people wanted for crimes in their own countries

What visa do you think you are going to apply for to stay here for an extended period?

Why can't you make online cash their instead of breaking the law further and breaking probation conditions?

What will you do when you passport does expire? i'm sure the Embassy will do a fulkl security check to issue you a new passport

Thailand is a great place to live but would it be enjoyable if you are constantly waiting for the police to knock on the door?

You have probation now but if it goes pear shaped in Thailand are you ready to serve a custodial sentence ?

Your life and it's up to you but think long and hard before you board that plane

  4. again another rash decision without thinkings through Pattaya has been a sin city since it became a R&R location during the Vietnam war. Many people go to Pattaya for the nigh life take that away and many households in the north east will have serious financial problems especially because of the poor rice prices at the moment

Take the nightlife away and many tourists stop coming. okay you can say we don't really need this kind of tourist but take away the night life and what are you left with a shit hole that happens to be by the sea

And if you start on the Farang bars don't forget every Thai karaoke bar and discotheque

  5. Wow 11 years no wonder you had high blood pressure, constantly waiting for the knock on the door or nearly having a stroke each time you see a policeman no way to live over something so easy to rectify

If i was you i would have gotten a new passport before returning to the country and cleared that overstay stamp out of your life. Now every time you apply for a new visa or extension it will be seen and come back to haunt you because we all know that the immigration rule book is open to interpretation with every different officer you speak to.

  6. First things first get a new bloody passport he can't do anything without it and how he has let things get this messed up is beyond me

When he get's his new passport from his embassy he can take financial documents to them and if he has enough funds outside the country they can issue him proof of income certificate and also freedom to marry certificate (take this to be translated into Thai at government office)

if his money does not come from out of the country get the required money into a thai account now so it is in there for the required 3 months

when he gets passport leave the country pay the overstay and go to a Thai consulate in neighbouring country and get a double/triple entry tourist visa which will give him few months to sort hid admin out

Get himself legally wed at local Amphur (freedom to marry certificate needed)

Then start the non o visa process as soon

Get it sorted pain in the arse lots of running around to do but better than living his life waiting for the knock at the door by the police

  7. bigger question why do you even care it's not your life or money so what difference does it make to you

each to their own yes their are a few horror stories but just as many success stories that you don't hear about because nobody wants to hear about peoples success just their bad luck

  8. just go to the local amphur office when i built my houses as stated above building have to be a min of 50 cm from the land boundary looking at this picture this has not happened so i doubt his plans have been approved by the local land office so give him the choice either install guttering or be reported and face being told to pull the house down

  9. The situation we were in before the coup could't remain a caretaker government had no spending powers and a budget for 2015 needed to be agreed upon or face ruin next year.

The people on all sides wanted reforms and the General seems to be doing that the curfew has now been lifted the streets are quiet of red and yellow shirt mobs trying to kill each other and any bystanders who get in the way

Do i want an elected government back in Thailand? yes. but want the problems sorted first so we don't go full circle with politicians who just try to line their own pockets and ignore the plights of the Thai people

so International press etc take a chill pill
