  1. never paid for some one to be my friend/gf and never will pay.

why pay for something that is available free?

if gasoline was available free would you pay for it?

i've dated some wonder thai ladies and had some amazing times with thai girls who dont want or expect financial compensation for spending time with me.

i have friends who pay and i tell them they are idiots but they keep doing it and continue to be disrespected and let down by their female companions in a way that i never am.

oh yes, and i have had fun with girls happy to treat me and spend the money sent to them by guys.

i love it when i'm doing the business with the lady and their 'bf' calls and they have to take the call, sweet talking the guy while i'm banging away!

    thanks lads!

  2. the turkish government tried this a few months ago and ended up looking like idiots - the same way the thai military will.

basically the powers that be who make such treats dont understand the technology, users will work around any blocks as they did in turkey leaving the law makers with egg on their face.

i guess the thai military dont watch the news or they would know this already..

  4. he's. a. teenager. what do you expect?

you need to learn parenting skills, e.g.

make it clear what behaviour is acceptable and what is not acceptable.

    have clear and consistent boundaries.

never make a threat you are not prepared to see through.

work out your punishments in advance - there are so many options you have; removal of mobile phone, or stop buying phone credit, removal of tv or computer, removal of money, grounding, removal of motorcycle or money for petrol, etc.

be calm, never lose your temper and speak to him in a calm but assertive way.

    be consistent.

plan ahead about how you will deal with varous scenarios.

try to bond with him. does he like footballl or other male passtime you can take an interest in?

i work with teenagers some are great, some are monsters, you need to use your experience as an adult and some basic psychology

  5. But, but, but I thought there was that bloke Somchai the head police who said there were NO MORE FAKE CCTV cameras in Bangkok and that we would get 100 Baht if we found one?

    EDIT

Nevermind. Looks like someone beat me to it. What absolute clowns. We should start carrying bananas to hand out to these guys whenever we see them.

I wouldn't believe anything any thai said.

Me neither. It's one of the commandments to living successfully and happily in Thailand. Never trust any of them. And, it's not because they are all bad people. It's because of a culture that demands obfuscation to protect their relationships mixed with a demand to tell a person what they want to hear to avoid conflict. I just listed to whatever a Thai has to say and then do my own fact checking on anything important to me. It's a pain but it's worth the effort. Amazing how many times they simply lie right to my face.

the fable of 'the king's new clothes' again and again and again...

  6. I recently got a double visa from UK .

Just been to imperial world to extend it.

    Got an extra 30 days.

Only took nearly 6 hours .

Sent from my SM-N9005 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

crikey. what time did you go? i went the other week, arrived at 9am, waited an hour for the office to open then was finished by 11am by which time the queues were huge. pays to go early i think.

  7. i teach private students at 500 baht/hour. sure it's much less than i could earn back home but then i am financially secure and dont need to work.

i choose to work because i enjoy working. working is good for the self esteem and i meet educated, interesting thais through my work.

i also have the satisfaction of bringing students from elementary level to intermediate and above level of english ability.

i have seen foreigners selling cosmetics in shopping malls and a thai owned small restaurant near my place has a foreigner behind the bar. cant see there being much money or job satisfaction in those jobs but everyone's different.

  8. The black list threat seems pretty horrible if it's just based on their "opinion" about a person. I can see that in case of an arrest and evidence proven. Imagine if it happened to you and it wasn't true especially if you are settled with lots of property here. This kind of hard core tactic should be really troubling to ALL foreigners here, no matter how totally legit you think you are. You might think this isn't about you, but to immigration you're just another SUSPECT, and don't forget that.

    ---------------

Blacklisting and forever banning some of the out-and-out criminals can only be a good thing.

I see several people bleating about being "respectable", owning property, etc -- If they are such pillars of society they will have no problem in getting a triple-entry tourist visa from their home country, which can be made valid for over a year using the immigration office in Thailand to get the extensions, etc.

But what happens if u r respectable, owning property etc., with a triple entry tourist Visa, which I use, to come every Winter? If they now start asking questions on re-entry at the border and u tell the truth about staying at property u own or rent with your 'girlfriend', or even renting a property alone, can they legitimately say: "Well that means u r not a tourist then", and refuse re-entry. Is it legal for a 'tourist' to rent a property in Thailand.? Are we, to be safe, going to have to be dishonest and give a false itinery or hotel address?

i would assume as you have paid for a triple entry visa then you have 'a visa' and it will work as currently.

stopping repeated visa exemptions will force people to buy single/double/triple entry tourist visas if they want to stay here for longer than 30 days and as this will generate income - this may be one reason they have stopped the visa runs.
