years ago i was at don meueng airport, checked in and walking in front of the long rows of seats they had there that were inevitably occupied by thai's who looked like they weren't travelling.
anyway... the foreign guy walking in front of me drops a 1000 baht note. as i stop to pick it up a middle aged thai lady screams at me that its hers! fortunately i get to it first and return it to its owner - to surprised looks on thai faces.
it struck me that the thais thought if they had picked it up the money it was theirs.

OP you're right, sunrise tacos is shocking. ate there once, big portion of soggy tasteless chicken quesadilia. never again.
some people rave about the place including one guy in particular who writes a thailand based blog. you have to think these people have never tasted real/decent mexican food.

sounds like as long as you've have a suitable visa - not difficult - then you will be fine.
i agree that people 'living' here on back to back 30 day visa exemptions should be dissuaded from doing so.
if you cant be bothered to sort about the appropriate visa for yourself then thailand doesn't want you and neither do the vast majority of foreigners living here.

stay out of it or as a 'rich' foreigner they may well expect you to put your hand in your pocket. everyone saves face and avoids responsibility and confrontation.

she handed over 100,000 baht worth of bank notes for a customer to 'have a look at'? really?

suggest you find out more about thailand and nthai culture as i have been here over 10 years, dated many wonderful girls, had amazing times and not been asked for a baht.
fleecing naive foreigners is not thai culture its scamming.
take away your infatuation with this girl and see the situation for what it is.

i'm surprised this type of thing doesn't happen more often. thai's know the police are hopeless so the best chance they have of justice is to sort it out for themselves.

those single decker buses aren't safe. we'd better ban them.

a thai friend gave me something similar years ago, it looked expensive but i could never bring myself to wear it.
from my travel experience i find its better to be the grey man and not stand out be it a farang in a yellow shirt on monday or my football team's shirt.

it does give you a great excuse when you get caught out philandering with your gik or want to set up a mia noi just round the corner.
you can say to your beloved; but dear, i'm just embracing thai culture

the rhetoric is pathetic.
inciting people to violence is pathetic.
ignoring the rule of law is pathetic.
yet so many thai's support and follow people like this. pathetic.

arrived early, let in the building at 9am, took the escalators, never take lift in thailand, too slow.
desks opened at 10am, wasnt at the front of the queue but spotted an extra desk with really helpful 'trainee' uni students with good english running it.
docs checked, banknotes stapled and queue ticket issued.
into other room and seen in 10 minutes.
left the building with all in order just before 11am.
result.

she was a great PM and really suprised me, i didnt expect she could step up but she did.
her standout and defining moment, apart from her excellent election campaign, was how she handled the protesters. patiently she waited them out, eventually they lost supporters every week and finally there was hardly any left.
compare that to Abhisit and Suthep who gave the order for live ammunition .... and killed almost a hundred.
also the way she dealt with some pretty ugly, fanatical, hate filled opposition groups in the public.... when she responded it was with grace, dignity, unlike the ugliness from her opponents. and im sure some of that will be on display again in the responses to this post.
anyhow, well done Yingluck....
She failed as the history books will show. She spoke to the public via facebook instead of through reporters to avoid questions which she could not answer. She did not condemn violence at Trat for example. And tomorrow she will probably be shown to be incompetent as well. Plus so much more which almost everyone knows about.
completely lacking in any qualities as a leader or politician.
not bad looking though.

If they are really concerned with the visually impaired, they should really make the 1,000 baht note a totally different colour from the 100.
Make the 1,000 a really distinct, bright colour.
I've seen quite a few people mix 1,000's in with 100's.
if they really cared they would make them different sizes as in the uk

it's not difficult to arrange an appropriate visa for yourself.
and anyway it's much less hassle than having to do border runs every 30 days.
