I beg to differ. I pay more than 50k but I'm here for work and I need somewhere central and convenient. For me it's worth it. And judging by how full my building is many others do to.

Wealthy people in my experience don't use the term sucker. They understand the price and value of things. If you want to live centrally and close to work. That has a price and value to whomever makes the decision to live there. If one chooses to live somewhere inexpensive then that is a choice and most wealthy people would understand that. They usually also don't go around telling people they are wealthy either.

Yeah, a punch in the head can be dangerous.
The farang guy threw the first one, though.
Thought the first push started it. There's a bit going on that's obscured though. Looks like she copped an initial one around when the old man threw a punch as well.
Who was the girl in the red dress who got dumped does anyone know?

Disagree with you on this one SB. I know you know sound economic policy does not necessarily make it right. I think you are just stirring on this one. I can think of many discriminatory actions that would be sound but are wrong. What gees me up about this is the high tax I pay here for nothing. I gather you aren't a tax payer.

I was given this form to fill out by my HR today. I am changing jobs and applying for a new wp and extension. She pretty much told me not to put anything personal on there. I put my wife down for contacts in Thailand and my parents home address and left everything else blank. There was no need for a signature.

Priority pass gives you access to all the Louis tavern lounges in Bangkok. Also get the Bangkok airways lounge in Samui.

Easy Soi Biker your degree is showing again. Just having a little fun. A new word a day keeps the doctor away.
WOW this word misogynistic is popping up all over the place here on TV. Somebody is trying to impress us illiterates. I guess I do fall into the dinosaur category at my advanced age but a misogynistic one certainly not. Must Google that word now so I can throw it out there. Always trying to improve myself.Thought it was a decent article with some astute observations. I thought she was a little too empathetic to the small % of misogynistic dinosaurs that I run into from time to time here however.OB
It's a pretty commonly-used word - I don't think anyone is employing it in an attempt to impress.
If he want to be accurate he would use gynophobia (aversion/fear of women) in place of misogyny (hatred of women).
Used by feminists, not in an attempt to impress, but in an attempt to insult and vilify people who don't agree with them.
Nope. Misogyny is the correct word.

I liken TV to a car crash. I shouldn't look but I often can't help myself from taking a peek at the horror.

I'm guessing the numbers are significantly lower - I wonder if there are any reputable figures for number of female sex tourists?Do Western women come to Thailand for the men?
No, they go to Kenya, Jamaica and other islands in the Caribbean.
Sex tourism for women is alive and well and has been for years.
It's just not talked about so much.
I think there are a lot of Japanese women who travel to Bali specifically for this purpose. I used to live in Japan and a Friend told me there is even a magazine targeting these women. Must be reasonable numbers if that is the case.

Happy to help. You will no doubt use it yourself now going forward when you see instances of it.

Anyone wonder how a security guard can save 4K per month? Or even earn that?

I've never had to provide this information for my extension.
OB
Perhaps you are on a B extension? For the rest of us we have to provide details about funds and bank accounts to the immigration officer when applying for an extension.
Got it. Yep on a B.

Who's fault will it be when peoples accounts are plundered as a result of skips being harvested?
BS, how should this happen....it's information you have to provide anyway for an extension of stay. Don't know any case where someone go plundered because of that.

The world has changed. The path many that post in this forum took is not available or not attractive to a lot of young or even not so young people these days.

No. There are plenty of foreigners working in good jobs here. The mistake many on TV make is they think they can slot all foreigners into a couple of categories based on their own bubble and TV. Most of these folks are not regularly posting on TV however.

Yeah I'm not that keen on giving them my bank details at all.

Certainly a worrying development if true. I am in the midst of moving jobs and will have to go to chamchuri in the next couple of weeks.

I made the mistake of reading this because I thought it might be a juicy "is my Wife cheating?" thread. Alas no.

Yes if you have all the documents in order it's a remarkably efficient process. As you aren't married I'd submit as much evidence of the relationship as you can in the form of photos or evidence of you covering the hospital bills or anything like that.

I just went through this for my #2 here. There's a raft of documents you need and an application form to fill out. You can get the detailed info here:
https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Citi/Appl/How-to-apply/Application-process-for-citizenship-by-descent
Couple of tips. For some reason when applying in Thailand you will need your full birth certificate. This took me some time as I had to send off to birth deaths and marriages for it. Also they will ask for evidence of the relationship. Make sure you include photos of you and the fiancé while she is visibly pregnant and after the birth with the child. I also included credit card statements showing payments to the hospital during her pregnancy (they didn't ask for that here but they did in Singapore when I was applying for #1). Once you get the documents sorted and various ones certified (you can do this at the trendy building if you are in Bkk) I simply submitted the documents and it was approved about 8 days later and the citizenship cert was sent out to me. Once you have the citizenship cert it's pretty straightforward to apply for the passport.
