So this investigation boils down to 2 things only and you have to hang your ht on one of only 2 possible pegs:

Peg 1. This investigation has been conducted by the most inefficient, stupid, banal, brain dead set of moronic

OR

Peg 2. This is a complete coverup coupled with corruption to protect the guilty.

Does anyone know if the phone records have been investigated ? I know in other countries this is looked into along with bank transactions. I do not know how the Thai police operate so I would be interested to know if this happens in Thailand.

Thais talk the talk but never walk the walk. All international companies should follow Carrefour's lead and ban all Thai seafood products indefinitely. Until Thais show real action arrests, and programs with enforcement and managerial control to curtail this despicable slave trade. At the end of the year we will be able to look back and see the results. My money says they will have done some walking. I am waiting to see. Talk about an overreaction. And yes, you do get rape and murder at rave parties back home. When I was growing up there were three murders a day in Los Angeles. I'd say things in Thailand are far more safe than they are in major western cities, where there are murders every day and most of them don't even get any type of news coverage. I think the problem is here we have older retired people who are probably basing their opinions on the safeness of their middle class communities for like aged people. The Full Moon Parties, raves, etc attract younger and less coddled crowd which will attract seedier types of people and be a bit more dangerous.That having been said for the thousands of people who participate in those things, the number of incidents is not out of place with what you would have in other parts of the world.

That's not in any way to downplay the significance of the Koh Tao rape/murder. It was a terrible crime, and I hope whoever was responsible pays for it. But as far as danger is concerned, the full moon parties seem to be about part of the course as to what you have everywhere else in the world. People's desire to "protect people from themselves" is just a way of controlling other peoples lives. If you don't want to participate in this sort of thing, it's more than understandable. But by the number of people who do, there is obviously a lot of people who do. You shouldn't use this incident to push an agenda.

This must be a coincidence.I have a large paddy field behind my house and there were people out there this morning spraying some sort of chemical.My wife said to close all the doors and windows I asked why.Her answer was they were spraying to kill the birds,stop them eating the rice.I have lived here 12 years and never knew this,apparently it is very common.She told me she has been sick before from this spraying.I wasn't surprised about just finding out as I am used to the lack of information forthcoming from almost every Thai.I would like to know what they are spraying,if it kills the birds it must be harmful to humans.

To me it seems to counteract their concern about pollution.

Many a worker is laying on a bamboo table either at home OR at the farm if many were in the actual field weeding, tending the birds would not be present.

simple things like a white plastic bag tied to a bamboo every 10 meters would deter birds. Also birds eat other pests that eat rice, but Thai have to blame something not themselves, so they spray to kill everything-even to poison themselves.

They do the planting and harvesting by machine,it's not labour intensive and I think they average about 4 crops a year.
